Prius (2010-12) :: Distance To Empty Gauge Inaccurate?
I am having some issues with the distance to empty gauge. Every time I've filled up the car it has say approx. 550 miles (when tank is completely full)..
View 8 RepliesPrius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Fuel Gauge Started Blinking And Miles To Empty Reading Pretty Low
I have had my PIP for just about one month now and I have only filled up twice. This car is awesome! I noticed when I filled up the last few times that the last block on the fuel gauge started blinking and my miles to empty reading was pretty low. However, when I filled up the tank, it only took around 9,2 gallons. Doesn't this car have a 10.6 gallon tank?

This has been happening consistently where the trip gauge on low fuel goes from 40miles to zero mile in a matter of seconds. I've never seen where it goes through the gradual process 30->20>10 > 0.
View 9 RepliesCorolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Fuel Gauge And Distance To Empty Accuracy
I had a 2006 Corolla S 1.8L automatic with 232,000+ miles that was taken away too early by two other cars making a sandwich out of it. It was still getting 32 -37 mpg consistently and about 370 - 390 miles per tank at least before I'd look for gas. I just replaced it with a '13 Corolla S 1.8L automatic and average out near 28 - 32 mpg (but it's winter). My issue is the readout on the gauges. I've got a 120 mile round trip for work daily (all highway). On the way home yesterday, gauge showed 1/4 tank and distance said 85 miles (enough to get home).
At about 26 miles left, yellow light came on. At gas station 19 miles left til empty (or so I thought), yellow light shut off and gas gauge went back up slightly off E. Filled her up and it only took 10.2 gallons after topping it off a couple times after the pump shut off. Distance traveled was about 320 miles on that tank so around 32 mpg. I'm o.k. with that but I thought these had the 13 gallon tank like my '06? Were there still 3 gallons in there and the sending unit may be bad or am I missing something? BTW car only has about 6600 miles on it as of right now.
Camry 2012+ :: 2014 Touch Display - Distance Until Empty Function?
I've recently upgraded my wife's car to a 2014 Camry; Our problem comes with the touch display; since this was her car, she sat with the guy at the dealer while they showed her all of the cool touch functions, while I was outside and talking with my brother-in-law. She swears they showed her a function on the display that would show her the distance until the gas tank was empty, but she was unable to find it afterwards, when the low gas level light came on. I've read the manual, and poked and prodded the display trying to find it myself, but I've had no luck either.
How to find the "distance until empty" function on the display? Is there a tutorial available on how to use the display from Toyota? I'm sure there must be one, but I haven't been able to find it.
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: After Replacement Of Battery Distance To Empty Won't Working Properly
I replaced the battery in my 2011 Sonata. After the install I reset the radio, clock etc. and everything seemed to work fine electronically. The car was very low on gas and when I filled it later that same day the "Distance to Empty" display in the dash only read 271 miles after fill up. Typically when it is filled it reads 550+ to empty. After three tank fulls the display now reads 375 when filled up. Is there a reboot for this function? Does it have to be done by a dealer?

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Miles To Empty Reading Not Consistent After Filling Tank
This just gets stranger by the month. I could have sworn when I first got this 2011 Sonata that the console read 341 after filling it up for the first time. I thought it had said that after I filled it the second time (just after Hurricane Sandy - yes, before the long lines - I was lucky) and it read 329. On those occasions the console had read approx 67 & 69 miles to empty. I know I filled it with 87 the second time around. The first time may have been with 89. And when it stopped at 14.x I thought to myself, hmm, didn't it fill to 15.x the first time? Weird. So I went on with my life.
This past weekend it read 50 miles to empty and so I filled it again with 87 (same gas station I should point out). And just like the last time, before this time, it filled with 14.1xx and read 288 miles to empty. It just seems to me that "Miles to Empty" has slowly gone down. On the third filling I believe it may have read 303 to empty.
Is it me? I am imagining things here. Could have that much sludge/dirt/whatever it my tank because of the gas station I visited or the 87 and not 89 that I have been putting in? Oil and filter were changed in mid October and then again in mid March. Thats about to happen again on the 28th but also to have the required NYS Inspection done. What should I say to them if anything? Could I have picked that crappy of a local area gas station?
Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Fuel Gauge Needle Reading Empty After Filling Gas Tank
I just filled up my gas tank and when I turned on my car the gas light turned on and the needle read empty. But before I put gas, the gas light wasn't on yet and. Was at 1/4 of a tank. Maybe I filled it up too much and it'll resolve itself after the gas goes down?
It's a 10.5 if it matters.
Chrysler - 300m :: Gauge Will Randomly Drop Down To Empty / Low Fuel Light Turn On Then Go Back To Correct Reading
MY 2000 300M has a problem with the fuel gauge. When over 1/2 a tank and just under the full mark the gauge will randomly drop down to empty and turn on the low fuel light then go back to the correct reading and will do this over and over again. my mechanic has looked at the car believes it's the sending unit. Just wanted a second opinion before I spent the money for a fuel pump module for the car.

This continues when I drive the car as well. It drives me nuts!! See video for better representation of what I am talking about. Maybe it's the pump for the coolant pre tank but I don't see how this could be normal. This is my first prius, other than this noise the car is excellent.

View 3 RepliesPrius (Gen 3) :: Miles To Empty Not Accurate?
Where the Miles to Empty Display seems out of whack? Filled up my car last night and it gave an estimate of 508 Miles to Empty. Drove 40 miles in 2 different trips one of 8 another of 32 and the display is down to 442. Is this a common occurrence? I'm assuming its just because I didn't get as good of MPG as the computer was expecting but on the exit screen when I turned the car off it said I averaged 51mpg on the 32 mile trip and the 8 mile trip was 70mpg. I'm not "concerned" about it but it does throw me off and makes me think I might not be getting as good of MPG as I am being told on the exit screen.
View 19 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Outside Temperature Reading?
So, this may sound strange but from the get-go of owning my Prius I have always sort of doubted the accuracy of the outside temperature reading. I am not totally worried about that part, as I don't really care about the reading, but I would love to understand something. When the thermometer reads the temperature as "37 degrees" it displays this bar that states it as such. The same bar where it notifies you if you change the temperature or volume via the steering wheel. So, I guess my question is , is there something specific about that number or is it just a quirk of my individual Prius? Also, it is worth noting that no other temperature causes it to display this message, only 37 degrees.
View 6 RepliesPrius C Fuel :: Low MPG Reading - Reset?
I bought a Prius C package 4 in Silver with Black interior with 16 inch allow wheels yesterday, I really like the cool technology and the look of the car. I bought it from a dealership roughly 160 miles from my home. Once I purchased it and was driving back on the Florida Turnpike, I first started of getting 43mpg, I was in the higher green area of the Eco meter, basically I was pushing the gas pedal and it was reading roughly 90 percent of the Eco meter is being used, I was driving at 78-83 mph. After an hour or so, I checked again and to my surprise it was reading 32.2mpg, I was really concerned, and slowed the speed, but it didn't change the mpg at all. After another 15 minutes, the mpg raised .1 every 2 minutes or so until I got home and parked my car I was getting 35.8.
This morning I woke up, got into my car and started driving for about 20 minutes, it is still reading the same 35.8. This is with me driving around 50 percent of the Eco meter
I'm concerned, is there something I'm doing wrong, do I need to reset this mpg, if I do, how do I do that.
Prius (2004-09) :: Car Won't Start - HV Battery Empty On MFD
I had my dead 12V replaced two weeks ago with a new OEM batt. The car had been working fine until I parked it in the garage four days ago. There was a single bar of HV charge left at that time, at least according to the MFD. Today it's stone dead, not even a single beep or a blinking light. I've attached a working 12V battery to the jumpstart points under the bonnet and the dash came alive, but the car would not start. The HV battery gauge on the MFD had no bars, and the shifter indicators were all flashing.
Is my HV really dead? Would it really take only four days to discharge completely and take the new 12V with it? Perhaps the OEM 12V was faulty and another 12V battery (not a booster) is not enough to jumpstart the car?
