Prius (2010-12) :: Bluetooth To Work With IPhone And Hands-free Talking And Listening?
How does the Bluetooth work with the iPhone and the hands-free talking and listening?
View 5 RepliesGen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Nav Displays Talking, Won't Connect Phone
So all I wanted to do once I got my new Prius was set up the bluetooth. What a nightmare! Got the phone to recognize the car. Tried to upload the phone bock from my blackberry and all I got was a display saying "talking" . I waited and waited and gave up after 15 mins as I only have 50 names in the book. Now the radio isn't on when because this stupid "Talking" is on all the time. When I verbally dialed a number I tried with the 1 at the start, then without, but the area code and then no area code, and still no dial....
I have had the car 5 hours and if I could pick it up and throw it I would.
Prius C (Audio/Electronics) :: Talking Prompt On Car Dash Display
I've been using Google Maps on my iPhone 6 through my Prius C1's bluetooth for years, and it's 99% reliable. But only if I'm currently playing music from my phone (using the built-in Music app). If I pause the music, all the turn-by-turn directions invariably come through sounding like a shitty quality phone call. The "Talking..." prompt on the car's dash display also appears, so I'm guessing the car thinks I'm making a phone call, even though I'm not.
This wouldn't be that bad, except that every time a direction prompt sounds, the music pauses for a few seconds, playing through the shitty quality phone mode. This sounds awful, and is the main reason I want to find a solution to this problem. But it's not the only issue.
Strangely enough, if I start a navigation in Google Maps before I get into my car, the bluetooth will treat all the audio coming from my phone, including music, as a shitty quality phone call. The only way to fix it is to shut down the engine and reboot the entire car.
I've done a little bit of experimentation with Apple Maps, and it seems not to suffer from this problem. But I've been using Google Maps for ages, I'm using to the UI, and I trust it a lot more than Apple Maps. I'd much prefer to continue using Google if at all possible.
Gen 2 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: 2005 - Navigation Stopped Talking?
Maybe it was something we said, but our otherwise bulletproof 2005 just stopped talking. We had an unfamiliar mechanic pushing buttons to reset our oil change notice recently, but other than that we are clueless. We have checked the usual "voice on" commands but seem to be lost on this one.
View 2 RepliesPrius C :: Buzzing Noise Through The Speaker During Call
I cancelled out my bluetooth because of a buzzing noise heard through the speaker when talking to people. A person on here had said they disconnected theirs and then set it up again and buzzing disappeared. I managed to disconnect it and followed the owner's manual to reconnect it but it keeps saying no device found.

View 6 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Whirring Buzzing Noise When Off?
This is strange. Twice in the past week I have gone in my garage at night, and my Prius'10 is make a buzzing whirring noise. Without touching it ... it's just sitting there making a buzzing noise. This is hours after using the car.

I have a new Prius c with 500 miles on it, it streams bluetooth audio beautifully but the phone calls are horrible. Just though I'd check here before I take it to the dealer.

Prius (Gen 3) :: High Pitch Buzzing Noise When Driving
I hear weird buzzing noise when driving it. It sounds pretty high pitched.
My Prius is a Gen3 2015 model 2.
Prius (Gen 2) :: 2005 - Buzzing Noise From Under The Hood At Start Up
I have a 2005 Prius with 57,500 miles on it. Some times (not all the time) I get a buzzing sound from under the hood at start up. This noise is a buzzing sound, not the usual whiring sound. This buzzing will continue until the ICE starts. It seems to happen more if the car has sat for a couple of days or the morning is cold. Once the buzzing has stopped, it stays stopped for the rest of the day. I do not think that it is the brake pump since it continues as the car backs out of the garage (on battery) and the brakes are off, but stops at ICE start a few seconds later. Could this be the inverter cooling pump?
View 3 RepliesPrius (Gen 3) :: Buzzing / Humming Noise From AC Fans - Is It Normal?
Was the warmest/hottest day of the year here so far and my black Prius had been parked in the sun all day. When I came to drive the car the a/c came on full power to lower the cabin temperature.
However, from the front of the car the two fans were making a really weird buzzing, humming noise (but were both spinning at high speed). Now I know a/c fans work flat out sometimes but I have never heard a noise like this before on a cars a/c. It almost sounded like the noise a jammed lawnmower makes, or some of the old lifts/elevators doors make. Almost an electrical buzzing noise of a solanoid but it was coming from the two fans.
Is this normal? Was it the fans or maybe the compressor or both? The a/c was working fine and was ice cold. When the cabin temperature reduced the noise reduced a disappeared with it. However, I did manage to repeat it by turning the a/c internal fan speed to full on a low temp setting.
Prius (2010-12) :: Whirring Or Buzzing Noise After Shutdown
I have a 2010 IV and after driving for an extended period and then shutting the car off I get a loud noise about a minute or a little more after shutdown. The best I can describe it is that it sounds like someone is dropping a 3 pound dead chicken from about 10 feet up onto my hood. It is consistent and is not any of the whirring or buzzing noises I normally hear. I also have a 2009 Touring and have never heard anything like this.
View 3 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Buzzing Noise From Under The Hood When AC First Turned On
On our 2008 (26,000 miles), I've started to notice a "buzzing" noise (best way to describe it) from under the hood when the air conditioner is first turned on. Never noticed it before, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there.
If I drive the car with the ac on, then park the car for 30 minutes or so, it seems to not occur when restarting the car and the ac. A little vague, I know. Sound normal to you?
Prius V :: 2012 - Subtle Vibration Like Buzzing Noise
Bought a brand new 2012 Prius in California - Power Toyota in Irvine. It was heavily raining so did not test drive. Package 3.Next day noticed that there was excessive road feel and buzzing like vibration.Took the car in and they noticed it too.
Changed Goodyears to Yokohoma, checked suspension and tire pressure. Issue did not go away. It is subtle but constant. Dealership said there is nothing wrong with the car and every car drives differently. Offered to change car with me taking a hit of 5000 dollars. It is like driving on a stone like rough surface with a buzz like vibration.Other cars I test drove did not have this. Two of my friends have 10 and 11 Prius they did not have the problem. They also felt the Buzz/Vibration in my car.
Prius C :: Buzzing / Grinding Noise When Car Is Powered By Battery Rather Than By Engine
Unlike the full-size Prius I used to have, the c seems to have a speaker somewhere under the hood which makes a buzzing/grinding noise when the car is powered by battery rather than by the engine. Is there a relatively simple way to disable this? I miss 'stealth mode' actually being stealthy. Possible to disable the EV mode 'growl'?
View 4 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Buzzing Fan Noise Coming From Engine Bay At Startup
My 2010 Prius V just past the 24000km mark. I have a buzzing noise coming from the engine bay during startup. It happens when the interior fan is on. You can hear it clearly after you start the car, during the silence of the "boot up", before the ICE kicks in. I can't be sure if it continues to buzz after that because the sound of the ICE drowns it out. However, If I shut off the fan during the boot up, the buzz disappears. Finally, if I leave the fan off and start the car, there is no buzz.
During a recent oil change, a hybrid technician claims that this is normal. It used to happen infrequently but now it is consistent, so if it was normal, I should have heard it when the car was new.
Prius (2004-09) :: Buzzing Noise From Rear In The Middle Of The Night
Last week, I went out to my garage to investigate a motion sensor event that shouldn't have occured. It was about 3:00 in the morning. The Prius had been powered off for probably 8 hours or more.
View 3 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Electric Buzzing / Whirring Noise - Not Vibration?
My girlfriend just picked up a 2007 Prius Touring, 78,000 miles, original owner. It was a private sale and I took a look at it for her. I'm just learning about the Prius and stuff to look for, but everything looked good on it to me. After purchasing it she noticed a noise coming from the drivers side dash. I searched here and saw that dash rattles are common, but this sounds more like an electric buzzing/whirring noise. The duration of the noise is always about 2 to 3 seconds in length, then it stops. There doesn't seem to be any common factor for when it occurs. Is there anything electric on the drives side dash (far left side, closest to the window), that might be making this noise? It's not super loud, you can't hear it if the radio is on.
View 4 RepliesPrius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Buzzing From Battery Area / Fan Noise After Shutting Down
I got home yesterday around 5 pm, and after 5 1/2 hours, noticed a buzzing noise from the battery area. It was 50 degrees out, so I don't think it needed cooling? Anyway, I plugged it in for a minute and the sound changed, then unplugged and after a few minutes the sound shut off. Never experienced this before, so long after shutting down. No sound this morning and charging now, no problem so far.
