Prius (2010-12) :: Brake Loose The Tyres With Moderate Acceleration
My 2010 III, not 3 or Three since it is a 2010, will brake loose the tires when wet with moderate acceleration. If i floor it it will alternate spinning right to left until I back off the throttle. I"m not really complaining since I had an 08 that would not spin a tire and could not be driven in snow. Just wondering if this is normal on a 2010.
I turned right with moderate acceleration on wet pavement today and the tyres broke loose and the car was headed for the curb. Oh the traction control light does come on when this happens but, no brake application or engine speed reduction.
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Need To Reset TPMS Sensors When Rotating Tires?
My understanding, and it seems logical to me, that if you rotate the tires and do not reset the TPMS, the pressure and alarm would come from the wrong location. I have been told that the TPMS sensors are, serial number unique and the car needs to know what serial number is at what location.
Anyway, for a do-it-yourself guy to rotate the tires and have the alarms come from the correct location??

Prius (2010-12) :: Horn Only Works After Rotating It But Not In Straight Position
We also noticed when depressing the horn to actuate it in the straight position, there is hardly any movement. When in a rotated position, there is a definite actuating movement or depression of the horn. There something happening when it's a straight position, the horn is being prevented from making contact so the horn will work.
View 5 RepliesGolf/GTI VII :: Whine Sound Coming From Tyres - Slight Vibration In Steering Wheel?
Took delivery of my 2015 GTI a few weeks ago. Overall the car is great, but I have a feeling the tires that came with it just plain suck. They are Pirelli P7 Cinturato A/S. According to Tire Rack, these are grand touring tires?! Not exactly what I'd expect to be put on a GTI. Anyway, I've noticed that at almost exactly between 60mph-70mph there is a "whine" sound coming from them, also just the slightest vibration in the steering wheel. At every other speed they are relatively quiet and the wheel is absolutely dead solid, no vibration. Could these tires just be of relatively poor quality? Should I have them put on a balancing machine to see if everything checks out? I'm assuming these were balanced on a Road Force machine at the factory since that is the OEM for VW/Audi, but I'm not 100% sure obviously.

View 6 RepliesCamry :: 2011 - Rotating Noise From Front Wheel
I have a 2011 Camry and I have noticed that there is always a rotating sound coming from the front wheels. The frequency increase as I speed up and decreases as I speed down. I don't think it is the bearing since it always comes, not while turning or changing lanes.
I have attached a video. You can listen to it. The noise starts at 00:27 mark. It is very noticeable around the 1:10 mark. Sounds like something is rubbing against the wheel. Not sure what can cause this sound.

Prius (2010-12) :: OEM Rims Do Not Have The Pressure Sensors
Have 2010 Prius. Live in NH and we do get snow in the winter. Put winter tires on existing rims but do not like to pop the tires on and off for summer to winter. Bought a set of 2007 OEM rims but they do not have the pressure sensors.
View 10 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: How To Get TPMS To Relearn With New Sensors
I purchased a set of Scion FRS wheels. I assume these have TPMS sensors installed. I found the reset button under the dash and followed the directions in the manual. The light still hasn't gone off.
Is there a different method to get the TPMS sensors to relearn? Or did I make the wrong assumption that stock FRS wheels have sensors.
Lexus IS 2014+ :: Metal Rotating Sound Coming From Front Right Wheel
I have encountered a strange noise from my car. The sound is similar to a metal rotating sound. It may be coming from the front right wheel.
I cannot hear it on the freeway. I would say that I can hear it quite frequently at slower speeds. Sometimes It would go away momentarily.
I tried turning the wheel left to right to see if that had an effect at slower/higher speeds, doesn't seem related, could be wrong. Currently I am thinking it could be my wheel bearing...
Prius (2010-12) :: When To Replace The Oxygen Sensor - Number Of The Sensors?
I've been looking online to see how often you need to replace the oxygen sensor for the 3rd gen Prius. I can't find anything online. How often you replace these? Would it be around 100,000 miles or more because it's a hybrid? Also how many are there? I've heard there is 2 and some say there's 4.

View 2 RepliesElantra MD (2010-15) :: Faint Metallic Grinding / Friction / Rotating Noise When Accelerating
My car has developed some intermittent noise but I can't pinpoint the exact source, though it seems to be coming from the front. I hear it in 1st gear when accelerating, and it's more audible if I have my windows down. A faint metallic grinding/friction/rotating noise is how I think I could most accurately describe it. I do have an oil change coming up in the next few weeks and will mention it then.
View 2 RepliesPrius (Gen 3) :: Wide Wear And Shallower Bars After Rotating OEM
I just rotated the OEM Ecopia tires at near 40,000 miles. They still have some life left (5000-10,000 miles). I noticed that there are wide wear bars and I'm 1-2 mm from reaching those, but there are also other narrower and shallower bars. Is this wet or snow type of indicator?
There are arrowheads next to the real wear bars and not next to the smaller ones, so they are not really wear bars.
Prius (Gen 2) :: Schedule For Changing Of Cabin And Engine Filters - Rotating Tires
I own a 2008 Prius and I have been taking it to the dealer for service because it seems like non-Toyota shops don't know how to economically service the Prius.I'm seeing that the dealer I go to also seems to want to change the filters and rotate the tires at every service and this really increases the cost well above a normal oil change price.
How often have people really been changing the engine filter; cabin filter; and rotating tires? How often is this really necessary? I'm at 108000 miles now.
Sierra :: Wheel Bearing Hub Replacement / Integrated ABS Sensors
My 2005 GMC Sierra has just >80,000 kms on it, and I'm having to replace a second wheel bearing hub. A few months ago, the rear left wheel almost came off because the bearings were falling out of the hub. Yesterday, the same thing happened while traveling on a highway with the front left wheel. While my truck was being pulled up onto the tow truck, all the bearings fell out of the wheel - one was completely ground, the others were perfect. A few more turns or bumps and I suspect I would have lost the wheel.
I didn't have any grinding noises with the front tire (although I did with the rear) - the front hub deteriorated really quickly (within 100kms of driving), and it sounded like cables snapping while driving which was likely the bearings tumbling around.
Having problems with the GMC Sierra wheel bearing hubs/integrated ABS sensors? Should the hubs be wearing out so quickly? It seems like a safety hazard to me, since there wasn't any early warning signs of a major hub meltdown.
And I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I've also had to have my rotors ground down 3 times and replaced once since new.

View 1 RepliesSaturn - Vue :: Repair And Maintenance - Rear Wheel Speed Sensors
Is there some common issue with this? Purchased the vehicle new in 2008, and in 2011 we have had to have the car in for this issue at least once a year. They replace one, then the other, then back to the first one, and now it appears the second is not working again. Each winter we run into this. The dealer will only warranty for a year, so I am paying each time.
View 1 RepliesTouareg :: Low Pressure Alert On Three Tyres
I get in my T2 this morning only to find a low pressure warning on THREE tires. What is happening?
- they are filled with nitrogen
- they are 3 months old (like the truck)
- it was around 50 degrees last night, 65 when I started it this morning
- i park in an enclosed garage attached to my house
- I drove all the way to campus (15 minutes), the warning remained
- the one tire reporting "normal" actually went from 29.5 to 30.5 on the drive
- i stopped at a gas station and the front were at 31, rear at 38. The door says the front should be 36, rear 44.
- note that the front two tires are the same but only one has a warning
- truck handles fine
Are those psi numbers the same for nitrogen? Can I just add regular air? Why the sudden loss of pressure in three tires? Is it a malfunctioning TPS (TPMS?) already?
Golf V R32 :: Strange Whirring Sound Coming From Somewhere Around Rear Tyres
What may cause a strange whirring sound when my R32 is on. I can be in park, sitting still..whatever...It sounds like it's coming from somewhere around the rear tires.
Whirring...humming... Honestly to me it sounds similar to an electric motor trying to do it's job but something is keeping it from doing so. Would be the best way to describe it. I just got the car a few weeks ago and the sound started last week.
