IS F (2008-2014) :: 2011 Car Has Distinct Pull To Left When Driving On Flat Straight Road
My car has a distinct pull to the left when driving on a flat straight road. If I let go of the steering wheel the wheel actually turns about 5 degrees left of centre and the car goes in that direction.
Had an alignment from lexus edinburgh last year and again from another garage yesterday,
Still pulls and I have to physically hold the steering wheel centre when driving.
Car is 2011 IS F UK
Attached is my alignment spec from yesterday, Is it the caster issue as this can't be adjusted? If it is what's required?
Prius (Gen 2) :: Vibration / Clunking Noise In Front End While Driving With Steering Wheel Centered
The problem started a few months back and has been getting progressively worse. Unfortunately for my Prius I have been in the middle of remodeling my house so I have been neglecting the problem and now it is time to face it before something bad happens.
So, It is a 2005 Prius with 189k+ miles on it. I started getting a vibration/clunking noise in the front end while driving with the steering wheel centered. It also turns on the traction control alert and sometimes slows the car down when turning and the only way to get it to stop is to turn the wheel the other way. It started only happening at higher speeds of 65mph+ but progressively got worse until it now happens as low as 35mph.
I thought that it was the drive axle as it seemed to be characteristic of that with the vibration (When the problem first started it seemed to only happen when accelerating, but now happens all the time), so I replaced the LH drive axle as well as the sway bar tie rod (The joints were very worn and loose), but the problem still exists.
Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Steering Wheel Off Center - Pulling To The Right When Driving Straight
After my steering wheel replaced I've noticed that new wheel is not centered. I was way too much to the right when driving straight, so I went back to dealer and ask him to fix it. He said that he fixed it and even recalibrated steering wheel (or something) and should be OK. So here is my question. The wheel is now a bit to much to the left (see picture). Do you think it is acceptable (within the specs) and it cannot be adjusted better? Should I go back and complain or I am just to much paranoiac.
View 23 RepliesCamry :: Off Centered Steering Wheel
2011 toyota camry LE I4 61k miles never been in a wreck. The car is squirrely as heck on the freeway and after two alignments and a trip to the dealer the slight pull to the right has turned into a fairly hard pull to the left and an off center steering wheel. Its not so much a pull as the car wanders and has ZERO center feel to the steering making it really a chore to drive.
View 2 RepliesGolf V R32 :: Steering Wheel - Off Centered
Every R32 I test drove - had the wheel off center / Top Center about at 11:00 while driving on straight roads. Small issue but drives me nuts. Used to be a DSM for Subaru years ago, and all Sub's came as straight as an arrow.....this was actually a big deal for them.
Maybe this is like the Driver's side wiper - all the same.
Camry :: 2004 - Steering Wheel Not Centered
I have an '04 Camry that pulls to the left. I've tried many things to fix it- switching wheels/tires (back and front switch, left to right switch, completely different set of wheels/tires), I've done two different alignments (everything is perfectly straight), and it still pulls left. I searched the forums and read something about a zero point reset, but when I took it to a Toyota certified mechanic he said there is no zero point reset on the '04.
Whatever it is I'm fairly sure it is a problem with the steering column- the steering wheel wants to center a little left of TDC and I have to pull it right slightly to drive straight.
Tiguan :: 2015 - Steering Wheel Being Off Centered
Bought a 2015 Tiguan Comfortline with appearance package (SE) in August, the car is currently under 2000 KM, I am already having this insane vibration though the steering wheel on highway.
First thing I noticed when I got the car is the steering wheel being off centre just by a little bit, need to hold it a little to the left to drive straight, but I am not overly concerned since the car tracks straight, never took it on highway with stocking rims and tires, and recently I bought another set of winters(rims plus tires) and shop balanced, and installed them myself torqued to 88 feet lbs with cross pattern. Found the steering wheel to vibrate on highway speed, starts at 90km/h (55mph), and get worse as speed increases, one late night I even tried to push the car to 140 km/h (87 mph), and the vibration didn't stop. I could only feel the vibration through hands, but can't visually see the vibration, I does make the car feel unsafe to drive at high speed.
First thing I did was to take the car to another shop to balance, and the tire shop told me He did balance all 4 but the machines only had very minor readings in the weight and they could just be the dirt inside of the rims.
I also checked the tire pressure, all 38 psi to spec.
The vibration seems to be only speed sensitive, doesn't relate to RPM according to my test drives late night.
Now I regret not taking the car on highway with the stock tires, its snowing here already and would be pretty unsafe to put the all seasons on and drive on highway to test it out.
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Steering Wheel Not Centered
Why the center of the instrument cluster ( tachometer and speedometer ) sits slightly to the left of the center of the steering wheel? Just a bit odd.
View 8 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Steering Wheel Vibrating When In Straight Direction At 70mph
I bought 2006 Prius which clearly was involved in accident, though it was small collision in slow traffic but on my way home from seller it was clear this was something more serious when on motorway at 70mph steering wheel started vibrating when in straight direction, it disappeared on any little turn left or right. Ok, maybe just ball joint got loose.... but not, today I've lifted front and found little knocking sound in few positions when turning the wheels (L-R). Sound is coming from rack & pinion unit. Anyone removed, disassembled and successfully assembled it? My plan is to check with dealer what is the cost of replacement (quite expensive for gen I, expect it to be same for gen II) alternatively can get one from scrap yard but need to find the calibration procedure first. BTW did read codes as follow, it's clear after reset... so far.
View 5 RepliesPrius (Gen 2) :: Steering Wheel With Very Slight Bind / Sticking In Straight Ahead Position?
Just recently bought a 2005 prius. It had a few issues that I have been addressing.
Last issue is that the steering wheel has a very slight bind/sticking in the straight ahead position. Very slight steering corrections needed when driving straight down the road are annoying because of this bind/sticking. Steering is smooth and bind free through the entire range of left to right travel, except for straight ahead (center).
Does the steering gear have oil or grease that is replaceable? If so, what id the procedure?
Lexus GS 2013+ :: Steering Wheel Won't Lock In Centered Position
Well, up until a week ago, I had a 2013 GS F sport, and I believe that the steering wheel on that car was able to lock in a perfectly centered position when parked and turning the vehicle off (and then opening the door and moving the wheel slightly so that it clicked).
However, I just picked up a 2015 F sport last week and am finding that its steering wheel will only click into its locked position at about 10-15 degrees to the left or right of center (a little before the 11 or 1 o'clock positions, respectively). It does this, despite the fact that I park the car and open the door while the steering wheel is perfectly centered. I must then turn it those extra degrees before it clicks and it then stays off-center.
Shouldn't the steering wheel on my new car be able to lock on the center position? Or am I just imagining that my 2013 was able to do this? The steering itself seems to be fine, but just want to make sure nothing is wrong here.
Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Keep Steering Wheel Centered Car Just Bounces Around Lane From Left To Right
I have 2010 Corolla S with manual transmission and ever since I bought this car I've been having issues with it's steering especially on the highway between 60-70 mph when the behavior is the worst.
The car is really hard to keep inline and even though I try to keep the steering wheel centered the car just bounces around the lane from left to right. I'm sure most of you know what I'm referring to.Now, I involved my dealer into this problem few months ago and the service manager (when I pressed him during the test drive) kind of admitted that he knows what I mean but he can't do anything about it until Toyota Corporate issues an official fix to it.
Surprise surprise, I just found TSB-014010 (URL...) last week online which seems to be the fix I'm looking for and based on the comments on this forum and edmunds.com it seems to either fix completely or mostly fix the issue for the people who had it done already.
However when trying to show this TSB to my dealer's service (the same service manager as before) and schedule the appoitment I notice that they are very defensive about it and try to dismiss my claims with statements like: "they all drive like that" or "it may be tire preasure" or "based on the description that you gave us and the TSB it's not the same issue" .
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Steering Went Out Completely When Driving On A Straight Road
A few weeks ago, my employees were driving home one of my work trucks, a 2001 F350 7.3 4x4 Crew w. 130K miles. They were on a straight road in a small town when the steering went completely out. The truck veered into a telephone pole. No one was injured. The truck has major damage to the front passenger's side.
I finally got the truck back to my shop today. It is quite evident what caused the problem. The gear/splined shaft that protrudes from the steering box and is connected to the pitman arm sheared completely off.
Lexus GX 2010+ :: Feel Like Going Over Pebble Stone Road When Steering Wheel In Lock Position
I have a 2014 GX 460 without air suspension. what I'm experiencing, is when the steering wheel is steered all the way (left or right), and car is in motion (reverse or forward) I will feel like I am going over a pebble stone road. You can feel it more during morning and cooler days. Otherwise not as much, but it's still there.
View 6 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2010 3.5L AWD - Bumping On Flat Road When Turn Slowly
A few days ago I felt a feeling of bumping on a flat road when I turn slowly. I was wondering if it might be a transmission shift shock due to an insufficient warming at the cold temperature. It seemed such bumping didn't happen after enough warming more than 5 minutes.
The outside temp was just above 0 degree on yesterday morning, I started SF without warm-up and drove about 15 minutes. Then I was making 3 point turn on a residential road covered with a little bit of ice on its edge when I felt one of rear wheel was slipped a bit on the ice and rear wheel got locked or seized and skipped. Upon the complete turn I was able to drive the SF home slowly cautiously, however every time I made a slow sharp turn left or right there had been skipping leaving tire marks on the driveway.
I thought 4wd lock was initially activated at that time and it had not been deactivated since. I tried to push and release 4wd lock button several time with no success, and I felt the SF moving very heavier than usual. I was trying to park the vehicle backward with a sharp turn too, it was much harder to turn back than forward feeling like rear wheels were stuck somewhere, suddenly there was a loud banging or thumping sound from bottom behind. Right after the banging the SF was moving as normal.
Today I tested SF by driving above 60km/hr as well as sharp turning for 30 minutes, everything looked normal. A couple of hours later I decided to test 4wd lock button again. While I driving SF at about 10km/hr I pushed 4wd lock button and released it 15 seconds later. I did it a couple of times because I was not sure if 4wd lock was activated and deactivated. And I was making 3 point turn again, then the same rear wheel seizure and skidding happened. I stopped the SF and I pushed and released 4wd button a couple of times with no success.
Finally I tried to turn back as I did before, and there was a banging sound, I thought the sound was weaker than yesterday, since then everything went back to normal. There is no grinding or clunking noise from the area where the differential unit is located. I was wondering if mine has faulty electronic clutch itself or any other components. The warranty was over 5 months ago, mileage is only 49,000km.
Prius (Gen 3) Fuel :: Gliding On Straight Road Without Loosing Speed Over 40mph?
Can you glide (meaning no engine engaging) on straight road without a hill without loosing any speed over 40mph? I only can when my speed is dropping. I can drive all electric around town without EV mode, no problem.
Stock Yokohama's, front and rear @ 40psi. will bump them to 44psi. Also oil is higher the high mark, which I am planing to drain.
Touareg :: V10 Pulling To Left / Steering Wheel Not Straight

View 17 RepliesElantra GD (2013+) :: Steering Wheel Was A Bit To The Right When Drive Straight
I noticed that my steering wheel was a bit to the right when I drive straight so I had an alignment done. After the alignment the problem was not solved so I went to Hyundai again to redo the alignment. They told me that they redid it and also that my tires are worn unevenly so they rotated them. My problem is still not fixed! I called Hyundai yesterday and they insist saying that alignment is good and the problem are the tires. To me that don't make sense cause even with my summer tires the problem is there.
View 23 RepliesLexus ES 2013+ :: Going Straight Without Turning Steering Wheel - ES300h?
I can't drive my 2013 ES300h straight (on a straight & level road) with out turning the steering wheel to the right, then to the left (over & over again) . To be clear, I do not have to turn the wheel much at all but it has to be turned to keep it straight. I had Lexus do a 4 wheel alignment yesterday and it did not work at all. Is this normal ?
