Passat (B5) :: Loud Alarm While Driving - ABS / Brake Warning Lights On
Last night I was driving my '99 Passat when suddenly I heard this loud alarm in my car. Quickly looking down I saw what I think were my ABS and brake indicator lights on. It happened so fast, maybe less than a second and everything was back to normal.
I was driving on dry pavement on country roads at about 60 mph. Outside temp was 37 and there were major gusts of wind, maybe 40 mph or so. Vehicle has about 115,000 miles on it.
Checked my manual and it said to have it checked.

Prius (2004-09) :: Three Warning Lights Came On But No Difference In Driving?
So I was driving and suddenly three warning lights came on. The Master warning light (Red triangle with !), Check Engine Light and the Hybrid System warning light (Car with !).
My AC works fine and I was able to shut it off and start it back up with no problem. I also did see a difference in driving.
Prius (2004-09) :: Transient Warning Light Appear During Driving
I had a transient warning light appear on my 2008 Prius during a recent drive from the Portland, Oregon area to Seattle . The reason I'm posting this is that this icon isn't listed in the owners manual, nor does it come on when you start up (boot up) the Prius. Also this warning is on the same line as the "ready" and air re circulation icon. On the right side of the display ( the usual low pressure tire, and I think traction control warning icons are on the line below).
This occurred about 135 miles into my drive at the infamous Interstate 5 as you enter Tacoma, Wa ( stop and go traffic) the icon is yellow /Amber a box with 3 yellow squiggle lines which are vertical and cross just past the bottom of the box. After about 15 minutes the warning light went out. It never came back. I have 115k miles and car was recently serviced. I wonder if this is some air flow / ventilation warning. I am overdue to check cabin AF but am unaware there would ce a warning for that. The AC seemed just fine and no effect on the cars performance. Weird.
Prius (2004-09) :: Warning Lights Came On While Driving But Did Not Lose Power
I was driving my 2006 Prius on the highway (120,000 miles on it). I'd been driving about 10 minutes and all of a sudden, the dash warning lights lit up.
Red triangle with exclamation point.
Yellow circle with exclamation point.
Yello check engine.
The car did NOT lose power. It kept driving fine with no noticeable change in how it operated. Fuel consumption stayed the same. Braking worked fine. I had a completely full tank of gas (had just filled it up before I got on the highway). Temperature outside about around 60 degrees.
I kept driving to my destination (another 20 miles at highway speeds). The car sat parked for about 3 hours. I returned to the car, started it up. The same warning lights appeared, except for the Yellow circle with exclamation point. Plus, this time I noticed on the energy monitor screen the graphic of the red car with the exclamation point.
Again though, everything seemed to be working fine. While the car had been parked for 3 hours I did some browsing through the owner's manual and saw a notation that is the warning lights were only yellow and not red that it was okay to proceed with caution to the nearest dealer.

I can't seem to find my manual, and I'm not sure if I should drive my car home after a warning light came on during my drive to work. It was a yellow exclamation point within a bracket. What this means?

I was on the highway yesterday when the red triangle went off and the screen said Problem. I babied my 2008 Prius to the dealer. They said the 12v battery was bad. I should have just gotten the yellow top in last week like I wanted but oh well. Here is the problem, today it did it again. It first happened at 70 mph but today it did it first at 15 mph then pretty much stayed on until I did not accelerate for a while. No noticeable performance issues, just the warning indicator. I did notice the noises after shutdown are sounding different than before last week. I also put a code reader on it both without running and on a test drive and no codes showed. What is going on?
More info: Just hit 100,250 miles. Purchased on March 17, 2008. Went in last week before the 100,000 miles for a check up and ended up with $1,000 for a coolant pump (both now, other coolant pump was replaced within the last 6 months). Also got: break fluid, belt, break alignment, oil change, tires (this I was expecting hardly passed state inspection in March), possibly something else.
I have been doing the oil changes since 15,000 miles, filters, pcv (or pvc whichever), all normal items. Problem free until I have them do a check now issues. So to recap non normal items done: blower motor in 2009, radio replacement in 2008, coolant pump in Mayish, other coolant pump and 12 v battery last week. Read more : [URL] ....
Prius (2004-09) :: 2006 - Three Warning Lights When Driving And Slowing Down At A Light
my much adored 2006 prius just got three warning lights as i was driving and slowing down at a light. The big red triangle- "Master Warning", the Brake System Warning, and also, the Hybrid System Warning. It was like warning lights galore... i'll bring it into the dealership first thing tomorrow, but any clue what's going on? I regularly maintain it. The only other thing that ever went wrong with my car is that the touchscreen quit working years ago, and i refused to spend the 3k for them to connect a silly wire. Why my lights went on and is this something serious?

So the 2003 ABS warning and Brake Light came on the other day with the alarm. The alarm cleared after a few minutes and the first time the warning lights cleared. I drove the car around town to see if I could replicate the issue. No issues found. My daughter drove the car for a few days and after work one night she called to say the lights and alarm were back on her way home from work.
I am not sure of her braking habits whether she presses evenly or if she jabs the brakes. I put the car in my shop today and after it ran for a few minutes the alarm cleared. The lights remain. What I would really like to get my hands on is a dvd copy or soft copy of the repair manuals so I can review the troubleshooting steps to determine what my next steps are in determining if there is a bad component. I have not changed brakes nor added fluid to the car since just after I bought it two years ago.
Prius (2004-09) :: Slow Then Fast Paced Beeps While Driving Without Any Visual Warning
My 2nd gen 2007 Prius started to show a strange behavior today and I don't find any answer to it. While driving without any cars close, with all seat belts closed and nothing on the passenger seat I started to hear slow paced beeps (approx. 20) then fast paced beeps. When I switch off the car and started it again I got the same beeps after approx. 30 seconds. I never got any visual warning and the OBD reader doesn't show any error code.

Yellow brake light turned on while driving in rain, then for some reason turned off. I had read somewhere this may be an indicator of wear on brake pads. I have a 90 mi. commute round trip, I will check again if this turns on and stays on. For now, it is off. what could be causing this?

After buying my Prius III, the dealer installed a Karr alarm system which has a blue LED light underneath the steering wheel which blinks when it's armed and, if the alarm goes off, blinks once to three times to tell you what set off the alarm.
Tonight I was at dinner and afterward entered my car using the SKS. When I started driving the car I noticed that the LED was blinking making me think my alarm had gone off. After the alarm was first installed, the installer showed me how to reset the LED by holding or clicking the button behind it (I didn't remember how exactly) so I tried pushing and holding the button but nothing worked and it kept blinking.
I continued to drive home and all of a sudden my alarm started going off while I was driving. I pulled over, turned off the engine, and with the key fob locked and unlocked the car. I started driving again and would hear intermittent honks before the alarm went off again for 20 seconds before it stopped on its own.
Finally when I got home I again turned off the engine, locked and unlocked the car, and the blinking LED finally went away. As I was walking around the car inspecting it to see if it had been hit to start all of this in the first place, the car beeped and locked itself automatically as if I held the door handle for the SKS or pushed the lock button on the key fob. I unlocked the car, tried to recreate it, and everything went back to normal.
Volvo :: Ignition Won't Turn Past 1st Position - Alarm System Service Required
I have a 2006 XC90 AWD 2.5L Turbo 85K miles. Tonight my school teacher wife went out after school to start the car and the key will not turn past the first detente. Lights, radio, etc work but the key will not turn.
Only error message on the screen is "Alarm System Service Required" but that has been on and off for almost two years.
I called the dealer and they said to tow it in and they would have to tear the steering column apart as the steering lock is broken...?!?

Last week, I took my 2006 Prius with 180k miles to Meineke for oil change. They pointed out that my front brakes need work and brake fluid needs to be replaced. I've been told about brakes by another mechanic. Two days later, my check engine light is on.

I have a 2005 Prius with 130k miles on it. In Oct 2012 I took it to the Toyota dealer for 120k service. They performed the following:
120k service
Replace serpentine belt
Clean and adjust drums
Replace cabin/hepa micro filter
Replace brake system fluid
Since then my car's mpg has dropped from ~45 to ~35mpg. I specifically notice that the pickup is completely gone and that it seems to "drag" pretty badly when starting from halt (stop sign, a light etc). Once it gets up to ~40mph, it appears to be doing all right in terms of mpg. What could be causing the "drag" and mpg drop?
Prius (2004-09) :: Airbag Light On When Left After Service
I dropped my car off two Thursdays ago for servicing. I planned to leave the car with them overnight because I needed the 150,000 mi servicing, the steering extension shaft recall, an oil change, and a new battery. The technicians performed a safety check as per the 150,000 mi servicing and reported nothing wrong with the airbag system.
I picked my car up at the end of the following day. When I started up my car, I noticed that the read air bag light was on in the car. Since the servicing center was closing and they had reported to me that my car was safe, I did not think there was a safety issue. I left with my car and parked it in my driveway for the weekend.
On Monday, while driving, I noticed that the lights in my steering wheel were not on and none of the buttons worked (cruise control, volume, temperature, ect.). I called the Toyota dealership that afternoon and left a message. They called me back on Tuesday and scheduled me to come in on Thursday.
Prius (2004-09) :: Excessive Idling Often At Very High RPM After Service
Had my '05 Prius in for its 100k service and TSB for water pump (the original one failed and was subsequently replaced under original warranty, so this one should be *better*, right?). All was well before the service, but now it seems to idle almost all the time, often at very high RPM, which it usually would do at full charge (which seems to be normal) but it was still a few bars from full. When starting up an hours after a long drive, the engine ran for a full five minutes in park and probably would have run the tank dry if I had enough patience. No heat or AC running, and the outdoor temp was 65. The engine will eventually shut off after a long period of driving and generally behave normally, but if I drive a stretch uphill, it will run and run (several minutes at least) even stopped in a parking lot.

My Prius alarm keeps going off. Only way to turn off is to put fob in car and start. Is there a fuse I can pull or a wire I can cut? I don't have the $ to get the alarm fixed.
