Toyota :: 1993 - Installing Thermostat On Custom Built Coolant System?
I purchased my 1993 Toyota from someone who modded a bunch of stuff in the engine, including putting in a header, taking out the Catalytic convertor, removing the A/C compressor and moving/rewelding different pipes (including the cooling system pipes).
Anyway, I've noticed that it's heater has never worked, and I just figured I needed to replace the thermostat. In the stock engine, you need to drain the coolant system, and then remove the bottom radiator hose. I did that, and discovered that when he welded the new coolant pipes on, he failed to put in mounts for a thermostat, and there was no thermostat there. Is this fixable at all, or am I stuck without a thermostat (and heating in the winter?)
Prius C :: 2012 - Poor Mpg After Installing New Tires
I purchased 4 new low-resistance Michelin Fuel Savers tires at 68k miles for my 2012 Toyota Prius C. For 3 1/2 years and immediately before I had it new tires, I enjoyed excellent MPG and I admit I'm OCD with watching mpg screen enough to know my daily habits.
With this new tires and all tires are set 41PSI....I still get POOR mpg with no changes! I almost never reach 50mpg on any trips! Before new tires: My AM commute to work....always 53 to 56mpg, my PM commute to home, 52 or so.New tires: My AM commute to work....barely 43 mpg! maybe 45!, my PM almost never reach 40!
What gives! I e-mailed Toyota service dept, they said did I lose wheel cover? (WTF? It's the same cover I still have it!) then he said, they need to check into it for $150. No way I'm paying $150! that's like another tire! Ugh! What may be the cause? I purchased Mechilen Fuel Savers with LRR tires as recommended. I feel sick to my stomach every time I see piss-poor mpg. I've been driving with this new tires little over 1,000 miles already including 1 day trip to southern California (that trip, 37mpg and 41 back, where the same trips I took before always 54 average depending on the weather and wind directions)
Prius (2004-09) Fuel :: New Tires - Bad MPGs - Service Light Came On?
My wife and I were driving around town the other day. While merging onto the highway we hit a nail. I put the donut on and went to TiresPlus where I have gone since I started driving. I had been thinking about replacing the front tires due to wear and the nail wen in the side on the rear. Anyway I purchased 4 Firestone Affinity Touring tires and went on about my day. My wife drives 100 highway miles a day and then does some city driving. This week she has lost about 5mpg's according to the display average. Also the service light has come on. Can this all be tire related?
View 9 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Resetting TPMS Light After Installing Snow Tires On OEM Wheels
I tried to reset my TPMS light using the procedure in the owner's manual after installing my snow tires on the OEM wheels. Now it looks like there is no effects as the lights will just keep blinking even if i am holding the button down. Does this mean the tire shop broke one of my sensor during the install?
View 5 RepliesTiguan :: Installing New Tires - Safety Concern
My stock tire size is 255/40/19 when shopping for tires the shop that installed the air ride suggest I go with 225/40/19 or 215/40/19, but when calling a few tire shops they are insisting those sizes are not recommended.
the difference is over the 3% threshold making it unsafe, what tire size I should go with while still being in the safety threshold ?
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: TPMS On After Installing Two New Tires
As the subject suggests, I replaced the two front tires on Thursday. I checked tire pressure after the install and it was per spechs on all 4 tires (rear tires replaced few months ago).
Today during a long highway drive TPMS came on. I remember that after replacing the rear ones (in a different shop), the TPMS was on when I picked the car up, but it reset itself after about 2 miles.
Tiguan :: TPMS Light Came On After Installing Winter Tires
Had my winter tires put on today and the tpms warning light came on. Tire pressure is ok. Never had this issue before with these tires/wheels. This would be the third winter with them. Is there a way to reset the warning light on a 2010? I have read about doing this on later models but nothing on the 2010. I do not have vagcom tools. Hoping I do not have to take to dealer.
View 4 RepliesPrius C Fuel :: MPG Decreased After Tires Replaced
I have a 2012 prius c with 72k miles. When i bought the car, it took a while for the fuel economy to increase. i drive 100 miles a day at 85mph and topped out at 52mpg. pretty damn good, if you ask me. im all interstate with very little city driving.
2 years later, its time to get new tires and ever since i changed them, my fuel economy has decreased to 45mpg.
Prius (2010-12) Fuel :: MPG Dropping - Replace With New Tires?
So I bought a used 2010 Gen 3 with ~26,000 miles on it in July 2013. I started out getting 48-52mpg depending on where I was driving. I live in Raleigh, NC and I did notice a drop in drop in MPG over the winter ranging between 44-48mpg but the mpg never rose again as the months warmed and I averaged 44-46mpg for most of the summer. After changing my tires a few weeks ago I've dropped to about 40mpg regardless of where or how I drive. I bought Pirelli P4 Four Seasons 195 65R15 91T and have them inflated to the levels recommended by Toyota. 35/32 or something like that. Is it the tires or is there some other possible issue?
View 19 RepliesCorolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: TPMS Light Did Not Show Up After Installing New Tires?
Yeah, like what I said on other thread (what did you do....) I installed new set of tires. I know most of guys here prefer not to have light on their dash, but I was worried because after I installed it the light did now show up even my new tires doesn't have TPMS sensor.
View 4 RepliesPrius (Gen 3) Fuel :: MPG Results With Three Different Tires And Driving Condition Identical
In the 30,000 miles I have driven my Gen III, it has gone through three different sets of tires. Driving conditions during this entire time have been identical, and temperatures have been fairly constant. Therefore, I think my fuel economy data can be a good example of the impact that tire selection can have on your fuel economy.
I currently have 2400 miles on the Michelin Energy Saver A/S. These are the MPG stats, manually calculated.
Highest: 53.4
Average: 48.2
Lowest: 45.0
Standard Deviation: 2.4
In the 14,000 miles I had the Michelin Primacy MXV4, these were the mpg stats:
Highest: 50.1
Average: 42.7
Lowest: 37.0
Standard Deviation: 2.6
(I may be missing 2-3 tanks, so this is probably 90% of the fill-ups during the time in which I had the Primacy MXV4.)
Lastly, in the 14,000 miles that I had the OE Yokohama Avid S33d Tires, these were the MPG stats.
Prius (Gen 2) Fuel :: 2007 - Mileage Drop By Over 20% When Put Summer Tires
This Easter I put summer tires on my "new" (owned about 4 weeks) prius -07, and cleaned and greased brakes.
With winter tires (almost new Nokia hakka xx, stud less) I got 4.5 l/100km (52mpg) easy and 4.2 (56mpg) at best, now I get 5.5 (42mpg) and 5.3 if I struggle, if I relax and put cruise control on I get 5.8 (40mpg). I travel 100km to work every day.
Summer tires is Michelin primacy (about 2 seasons?) pumped to 3.0/2.8 bar (over inflated).
Brakes don't seem hot after drive and they was really clean and easy to move after my service so my guess is that they work fine...
Mileage went down over the weekend so I see a clear link.
It was more fun trying to hypermile at 56mpg aiming for 60 then it is at 42 aiming for 45...
12v battery charged, just in case. Still same temperature out 1-8 C. Oil and all filters changed first week (will change trans axle oil in summer). Travel to work got 4% shorter so tire size must be a small reason to the +20% problem.
Prius (2010-12) Fuel :: New Tires Lead To Drop In Gas Mileage
Last October I needed new tires, so I had Michelin Defenders put on my 2011 Three in place of the OEM Firestones. The Michelins perform well and are nice and quiet, but...
My gas mileage (both indicated on the dash and calculated) has dropped by about ten percent. In researching the two brands of tire, I found that the OEM Firestones are rated at 836 revolutions per mile, and the Michelins are 839. I'm wondering if this is the reason for the apparent change in mileage.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Tires Rubbing After Installing Leveling Kit
I had my leveling kit installed today. Bilstein 2" leveling coils, adjustable track bar, 4" rear blocks, and shocks front and rear.
I have 295/70/18 tires on stock wheels that didn't rub anywhere before. Now at full lock to the left the drivers side tire just barely rubs on the radius arm. How is that possible? I was planning on getting 35s soon when these wear out but it seems like those would rub even worse.
Prius C :: Custom IPhone Dock To Hang Over The Side Of Glove Box?
Exactly what the hook/clip thing is for that sits to the left of the USB/AUX ports in the Prius C?
I was thinking about making a custom iPhone dock that would hang over the side of the glove box that would attach to that hook. I've never really done anything like that before though.
Prius (2004-09) :: Installing Dash Magnifier Glass?
I'd like my mother to switch to the Prius we have to drive to and from work, but her vision is not perfect and she has trouble reading the very small indicators on the digital dash such as D, N, R, etc. Any rectangular magnifier lens or glass that could enlarge the view of the display?
View 3 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: CD Changer Beeps And Doesn't Work After Installing New Auxiliary Battery
I bought a new auxiliary battery online and installed it. I reset the driver's side power window. But my CD changer now beeps four times, all the lights turn green and orange, and I cannot play a CD from the changer or eject any of the discs. Both discs currently stuck in it are store bought Third Eye Blind CDs with no stickers, labels, etc.
I'm assuming that the CD player needs to be reset. Someone in another thread mentioned unplugging the battery for 20 seconds, while someone else said I need to enter a code that I can get from the dealer. I can go without the changer but the beeping is maddening.
Prius (2004-09) :: Tire Light Warning Turned On After New Tires Installed
Got the new tires the other day (Thursday) from a tire chain store. As I was driving off, I noticed the tire light warning turned on and then moments later, it turned off. I thought maybe it was just that. Today (Saturday) the tire light went on again. Brought the car back to tire store and the service manager checked the pressure, the tires were all low pressure, 29-30 psi instead of 35s. He re-inflated them all but the tire light will not turn off. So next step was he used a scanner tool which he attached close to all the tires.
View 6 RepliesFord Excursion :: Installing Fuel Pump?
I just got my Bosch fuel pump from Riff Faff and will be installing it this weekend.
I want to add a Pre and Post filters to the pump and had a couple of questions
1) the threaded end that's under pressure what is that connection.. I would like it hard connected to a filter and then the stock line connected to the out put of the filter.
2) for Pre Filter its a push Lock connection... Should I keep it or look for something that works better under Vacuum?
