Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Got Code P1121 With CEL?
2005 Prius, 105K miles when the check engine light came on.
Scanner report: P1121 accelerator pedal position sensor range/performance problem.
Fix: Coolant flow control valve. (Even though it was still working)
Part number: 16670-21010
Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Getting P0505 Error Code
I have a 2005 Prius with almost 244,000 mile and about a week and a half ago the check engine light came on. I went to an Advanced Auto and had them read the code for me, which came back with a P0505 error code. I have read several things on web that this code is a Idle Air Controller related.
I also have read that this could be to a loose or bad PCV valve, an air leak in the vacuum lines, throttle motor shaft might be binding, or a failed engine ECM.
The car runs and idle just fine, no stalling or a rough idling. The only problem that is obvious is that when the car is warm and I come to a stop or put in park, the motor will not shut off.
Which one of these would cause this to happen? Or could this be due to a MAF sensor that needs cleaned or replaced?
Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Error Code P0420 / CEL Came On Again?
Just picked up a 2005 with 146k and full Toyota service history, although seems a steering recall was not done. Will run it to the dealer today to check. I need to decide a.s.a.p. if I am keeping the car or not (I know the seller, he will take it back)
Anyway to cut a long story short, two questions.
1) Car had P3190 and P0420 when I got it. Seller reset, drove home and within 5 minutes on the road the CEL was back on. Checked the codes at home and see only a P0420. Much to worry about? Seems this might be big (Cat) or small (O2). Car getting great mileage - 60mpg at 60mph and it seems to be running great. Should I worry or forget about it? Note I am in Florida with no inspections.
Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Showing POA93 Code
My 2005 prius is showing POA93 code. Is this always an inverter coolant pump or can this be caused by other issues?
View 2 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Pulled Over Error Code P0420
So I bought a used 2005 Prius back in August it had 88,000 miles on it and was out of warranty. But I had a full inspection on it and the car was in great shape. Well, after a few months of driving, I got the P0420 error. I took it into my mechanic who cleared the code and told me to call him if it came back on. It came back on, then I cleared it myself, and it came back on again. So it was confirmed that I had a bad catalytic converter.

Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Inverter Dead / No Error Code?
My 2005 died in the middle of the road a few days go. Was just rolling along fine then suddenly out of a stop light, the car stalled and would no longer go back into P, D, or R while the battery still seemed to be working. So had it towed to the dealership to be checked.
View 5 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Lights Came On - Not Much Acceleration - P3000 INF 123 Code?
I was driving my 2005 Toyota Prius and all of a sudden some lights came on the dash. The orange check engine light, The big red Triangle with an exclamation mark on it, the orange VSC symbol, and the orange exclamation mark all at once. I also heard the fans in the back seat kicked in which I never heard before. It felt as though the car didn't have much acceleration. I took it to the dealer and they had it a whole week trying to figure out what it was wrong. They said they got the P3000 INF 123 code from the car which they said the HV control ECM for $2000. Needless to say I don't want to pay that! I found used ECM on ebay for $85 and I bought a scangauge 2 . I pulled 2 different codes out with the scan gauge 2 P0A80 and P3021.
Do you think the dealer diagnosis is right? What does the codes I read out mean?
Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Two Lights On Dashboard / No Code Found When Run Scangauge
I have a 2005 prius and I got a scanguage to read the codes. I have two lights on my dash. One is the check engine and the other is the (O) light. I think this is something to do with the regen braking. Anyways when I run the scanguage it says no codes found. What type of scanner would be able to pull up all prius codes?
View 6 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Code P0A82 / Battery Cooling Fan Not Coming On
We took our 05 Prius to the mountains on Sunday. Coming down the hill from Lake Tahoe the temp climbed to 98. Suddenly we got the red triangle warning and the Hybrid system warning light. The car ran fine and showed no symptoms of any problems. We took the car to the dealer Monday morning. They Read the code P0A82. They said the Battery cooling fan was not coming on and blamed the problem on dog hair. The warning light was off. The car ran fine going home with no warnings. My questions
1) Can/did the dealer reset the warning light?
2) Is there a way to verify that code P0A82 is a bad cooling fan.
Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Code P1121 / Coolant Valve Control
i have a 2005 Toyota Prius that the air conditioner wont work in. it has Freon in it the compressor wont kick so I did some research and my cooling fans aren't kicking on so I did a by pass test and the cooling fans motor is good they just wont kick on. I just replaced my 2 cooling fan relays and they still wont kick on. the check engine light was on in the car when I got it. it throws the code P1121 coolant valve control. I got the part just got to get it put on. Could this part stop my cooling fans from kicking on or my ac compressor from coming on.

2005 5.4L She would have a hard time starting before but after I replaced and fixed everything below she was running really good. Now back to sputtering, taking a long time to start and now not starting at all.
I have replaced; Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, FPDM, Plugs and COP's, FRP Sensor, followed the power wire from the FDPM and found it corroded bad so I replaced it, also changed the ground location on the FDPM, I have checked all the wires from the FDPM to the drivers seat, checked all fuses.
I have power to FPDM and I have the diagram for the plug but how can I test (hotwire) the Fuel Pump without lowering the fuel tank? What should be the voltage coming from the FPDM plug? not sure about pin 1 & 6.
How can I test the FRP sensor? what are the specs for voltage?
Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Battery Drains Fast And The Car Running Rough / Code P1121
Code says P1121 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Range/Performance Problem. I heard that was wrong and its really coolant control valve? The battery drains fast and the can runs like crap. Would this code be doing that to the car?
View 18 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Just Won't Start
Immediately after parking my 2005 Prius (around 127k) on my block last night, I decided to turn the car back on to adjust parking, and it just wouldn't start. I got nothing: no new lights on dash, no light on power button. Just the flashing red car with the key in it (which I believe is on as long as the car is off?) on the dash. The car doesn't make any noises when I try to start it, except for a sort of low mechanical noise when I step on the brake (which I think always happens).
View 19 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Ran Out Of Gas Now Car Won't Start
On Friday I went away for the weekend. When I arrive at my destination I noticed that the gas tank only have one gas bar. I figured I would fill it up before heading back home today Sunday. Then an hour ago I got into my car for a 2 hrs drive home but the car is not starting at all.
The empty spot where I was able to par the car was a small down hill. So I figured that the car was getting a signal telling it computer that the tank was empty even though it was showing a bar but the down hill must had affected the signal. A friend took me to a gas station where I was able to put at least 3 gallons on it.
Before I went to the gas station the car key would not get out of the slot and it was telling me something on the screen and the key was been blocked. So to the gas station we went then we put the 3 gallon and ZERO!! My car is still not starting up. I called a local dealership but the service dept is closed until tomorrow The person who answered said that there is nothing to do but to take it to the dealer tomorrow so they can reset it. Is he right on this? I remembered once before when I ran out of gas and I put some gas in the tank and was able to crank it up after putting gas in it. Then went to the gas station and filled it up. But this time nothing is happening. Do I need to ad more gas? What should I do. Also I must ad that after adding the 3 gallons the car panel is black and no msg is showing at all. Like all is dead
Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Gas Engine Won't Start
Friday morning i got in my car to go to work, noticed that the gas engine never turn on but thought maybe the hybrid battery level was high. Drove about 300ft and noticed the gas engine never turned on and now the hybrid battery level was very low, immediately i turned around to go back home but before i made it the car shut off.
Current dash lights on are, Red triangle, vsc, abs, brake light, a yellow light with a circle and exclamation point, my gas gauge flash full to empty, (YES IM SURE I HAVE GAS IN TANK). Recently replaced 12v battery with yellow top optima battery. Also the check engine light IS NOT ON.
Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - New Battery Installed Now Car Will Not Start
My mechanic installed a new Hybrid battery in my 2005 Pruis using the repair manual and a video that showed him how to do it. He also replaced the harness and the ECU battery. When he tries to start the car all of the lights light up on the dash but no ready light on the start button and the car will not start. The instructions did not say anything about this issue so he is lost! He thinks the smart key and the ECU have to be synced in some way but doesn't know how to do it.

During said trip red triangle engine and exclamation mark yellow haunted to screen. Turned off the AC to listen. No strange noise. I believe only the ice was running, no hybrid. Regen was working. Current lights red triangle, yellow exclamation, brake, engine, abs, red car with exclaim, anti skid, will go into neutral. Power button will not turn green just amber. Battery 12.4. Hybrid almost full, inverter pump working. No thrown codes under info 3 seconds slash lights on off 3 times. Emv says ok. Brake lights working.
View 19 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: 2005 - After Disconnecting Hybrid Battery Won't Start?
My 2005 prius will not start. We had some body work done to it after a deer ran into me. They did a small amount of welding and had disconnected both batteries. Now the car will not start. It can be put in auxiliary mode but if you try to start it with your foot on the brake, it flashes some lights for a few seconds and then goes dead. Is the hybrid battery too low to start the car? It was pretty low. before the batteries were disconnected. Or did they possibly do something wrong when they disconnected the hybrid battery? Final question would be do they have to do some reprogramming after disconnecting the hybrid battery?
