Prius (2004-09) :: Red Triangle, Exclamation, VSC And Check Engine Lights Came On
When i was driving my 2005 Toyota Prius the Red Triangle, the ((!)) light, the vsc light, and the check engine light came on. I let it sit for sixteen hours without driving it and everything went back to normal. Three days later i was driving and the same lights came on. I let it sit again for sixteen hours without driving and it was still there.
When i was driving i recognized there was a terrible lag, and if i was driving for awhile it took me about one minute to get up to 45 miles an hour. It felt like i was driving in first gear or something.
I also noticed if i had the Heating and air conditioning off that hot air would pump from my back right, which is the seat behind the passenger, that vent was blasting out hot air.
I took it in to toyota and they said the water pump was bad So they replaced it, after replacing it more codes came up and one of them told them to replace the Hybrid Battery Pack which is 3,419 dollars.
I Drove it out of there today thinking that some of the problem was fixed with the lagging of the acceleration and the heating coming from the vents but it was not. I was reading online and everything pointed to the inverter pump where the engine is not being properly cooled, which would explain the excessive heat and the lagging. They claim it still is the battery, but i was watching the battery on the dashboard navigation system and it seems to be driving and recharging fine.
Prius (Gen 2) :: Red Triangle With Exclamation Mark And Check Engine Lights Popped On
I've got a 2009 Prius with 67k miles on it. The car has a salvage title, but has given me over 20k+ worry free miles. The past few days the car has been acting a bit odd (i'm not sure if these are related or not but I figured I'd just throw it out there as well).... The right front headlight has been on the fritz as well as the wireless door opener has been working sparsely (sometime it wont lock, sometimes it will). I just ran the test to make sure teh 12V battery was okay, and all of the voltages came back in the "normal" range.
View 17 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: VCS - Red / Yellow Exclamation And Check Engine Lights All Suddenly Turned On
While my car was idling in a CVS parking lot, the VCS, Red Exclamation in a triangle, Yellow Exclamation in a circle and the check engine lights all suddenly turned on.
In reading the forums, it seems the two most likely issues would either be the inverter pump (which I had replaced as part of the recall, and I see the fluid moving in the reservoir), or possibly a bad 12v battery (which I had replaced last year with the forum recommended Optima Yellow Top).
I checked for error codes, and there were numerous ones there at first, but I think that might have been related to the old 12v battery dying (I never reset after that). I cleared the codes, and no new codes are generating.
Prius (2001-03) :: Check Engine Light / Orange Triangle And Car With Exclamation Point Lit Up
My wife's Prius now has the check engine light, the orange triangle, and the car with the exclamation point lit up. It only has 96,000 miles and hasn't been in a wreck that we know of. I've read that it has to do with the HV ECU, but I don't know much more about it. Is there any chance it's just a loose cable or something simple? It doesn't seem like her car should already be having so many extensive problems all at once. We haven't had any in the past, except the car with the exclamation point came on for a few days and then went away on its own.
Codes: P1636, P3106, P3002, P3006. It's a 2002 Prius
Prius (2001-03) :: Red Triangle Of Death With Exclamation Point, No Codes
I just acquired our second Prius, a beautiful 2002 (Gen1 in the USA) with 90k miles. On the dash, I get the red triangle of death with the exclamation point inside it. On the computer info screen, I have an icon of a car with an exclamation point in it and it reads "problem". I have connected the OBDII reader to it and it does not have any codes. Nothing in the history, or in the current or pending. The car has full power and runs fine, but has the stupid RTOD.
View 19 RepliesPrius (Gen 1) :: 2001 Check Engine Codes - Misfire In Cylinders 1 / 2 And 3
Toyota read the codes wrong and told me that I need a new hybrid battery. That is incorrect info. Codes P0300 P0301 P0302P0303. The codes mean misfire in cylinders 1 , 2 and 3. I have had injector cleaned in the past new spark plugs. If I drive it it gets warmed up and shuts down. It will restart and run maybe 7 more miles the same. The brake light comes on and I have to restart it.
View 9 RepliesPrius (2001-03) :: Warning Lights With Exclamation Came On
All three warning lights went off yesterday just before hitting 130,000 miles. The warning lights consist of an exclamation point inside a triangle, check engine light, and what looks like a thermometer inside a car icon.
View 13 RepliesPrius (Gen 1) :: 2001 - Triangle And Exclamation Warning Lights
I have a 2001 Prius with 150k on it. It has been giving me the triangle warning light and the car ! warning light. I can start the car and drive it, but sometimes when I press the accelerator the gas engine just dies and will not kick back in, unless I stop, turn off the car and restart it. (Issue seems to occur more in hot weather, could be a coincidence) When I start it the engine will run rough and shutter for less than a min, and then run normally.
View 17 RepliesPrius (Gen 2) :: 2007 - Red Triangle With Exclamation Came Up With Check Engine / MPG Went Down
I'm at 138,000 miles on my Prius, just got oil changed, 12v replaced in 2014, water pump replaced in 2015. I
I've noticed over the past couple days the mpg has gone down from 39 to 36. Yesterday I was 25 away from my work at gas station and when I pulled out a red triangle w/ exclamation came up along with check engine, VSC and orange exclamation with circle around it. I drove to my work and it didn't seem like performance was different.
When I got to work I turned it off and back on and all lights were still lit. After my shift I went to leave and it was same thing. When I went to reverse it felt like a tug, I pulled about half way out then pulled back in cause I didn't want to get stranded.
Prius (Gen 2) :: Check Engine Light And Red Triangle With Exclamation
Check engine light, red triangle with exclamation, and on the monitor a red box with a picture of a car with exclamation came on after changing the rear brakes. I checked the water flow control valve and water pump. Don't know what else to check.
View 3 RepliesPrius (Gen 2) :: Check Engine Light And Exclamation Sign?
I have a 2009 Prius with about 38k miles. Lately I have been observing that the mpg is constantly dropping and has reached 38 now. For the past couple of weeks, I started noticing a weird noise as if something was rubbing against something else. The noise would come and go, as if something was trying to engage. Upon further experimentation I noticed that it was related to A/C - when the noise would happen, if I raised the temp enough to turn off the A/C the noise would stop. After that if I dropped the temp back, the noise wouldn't come back.
Anyway, today all of a sudden I noticed the A/C was not blowing cold air, so I was sure the A/C went down. However after sometime the car gave me red bang, and it says Problem on the screen with car sign and exclamation, and a check engine light. But the car drives just fine.
Prius (2001-03) :: 2002 Check Engine Light Codes For EVAP System And Misfire
My check engine light came on the other day, with no symptoms or problems. Today I stopped at the Auto Parts store and had the codes read. They were P0440, P0441, P0446, and P0301. They are for the EVAP system and misfire.
I had read here that one of the codes could be for the gas cap so I tightened it and then, also as read on here, disconnected the negative 12 V battery cable to perhaps clear the check engine light. I was curious.
When I started the car again, I now have not only the check engine light, but the red triangle exclamation point. How would you proceed? The 12 volt battery is around 5 years old. The entire exhaust system was replaced last year.(not O2 sensors though)
The hybrid battery was replaced at 70,000 miles and I now have 110,000 miles on it. I really wonder why disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it caused more error lights to appear? Also, the Auto parts guy said his code reader was fine for my car but I seem to remember here that there may be a special Prius one.
Prius (2004-09) :: C0000 DTC - Red Triangle / ABS / Check Engine And Exclamation
I got my first ever DTC today.... c000 looked it up and it's Toyota Vehicle Speed Information Circuit Malfunction.
It happened as i was slowing down from 70kmh in B mode for a stop light. I felt a small "clunk" and then the beeping and red triangle check engine light VSC ABS and the (!) were all showing. i was at he head of the lights, so when they went green i tried pulling away and had no power. engine was running and revving a little, but there was no drive.
I think the clunk was the HSD releasing maybe? It didn't feel like i hit something, or metal on metal kinda noise. just a dull thud.
Luckily it was downhill and i could pull off the main road onto a side street. I stopped the car, powered down and then turned back on. all warning lights were still on. Then I remembered that the SG2 can read and clear codes ! I checked the code (only 1 was present) this was the c0000 vehicle speed circuit malfunction.
I figured since it wasn't a HV drive code, I could probably reset the code and see if it returned. So I cleared the code and the car returned to normal. i then drove the remaining 5km home with no problems. Seems strange that a vehicle speed sensor malfunction would cause no drive ?
Prius (2004-09) :: 2008 - Check Engine Light / Red Exclamation Mark - 12V Battery OK
I've been using my prius 2008 very smoothly till today. It was 100F+ in Austin and very hot. The car, suddenly lit up all the warning lights: Engine, Red Exclamation, Hybrid, and brake lights. The brakes kept beeping on both sides. I also heard an engine noise that is quite uncommon for prius. I stopped the car in a parking lot.
I came back in an hour and tried to start the car. I only saw 2 lights now: Red Exclamation, and Engine check. It might some "click" noise when I started, and after that it was fine. I drove for a while and everything was fine but the 2 warning lights were still on. I tried starting and stopping few times. I did experience the clicks (1-2) and the engine noise. The engine noise lasted 15-30 seconds and then it was back to normal.
I followed the youtube video to look up the diagnostics (Display pressed + lights on/off 3 times) to check the 12V battery. It read 13.8 V. I recently had an oil change at Toyota dealership less than 500 miles back. So I am baffled at this point. I have about ~60K miles and it's a 2008 model. So if it's a hybrid battery issue, I am covered.
Prius (Gen 2) :: 2006 Cells Replaced, Red Exclamation Mark / Check Engine Light Appeared
I just bought a 2006 prius. It had 2 bad cells in the battery pack. I replaced the cells and all seems to be well, they all read the same voltage and the car appears to be driving, charging, working.
I still have the red exclamation mark and check engine light. The only code I get says to replace hybrid battery pack.
There are no other specific codes or issues and it runs perfect. Basically I guess what I am asking is how to clear the light or figure out why the light is still on!
Prius (2004-09) :: 2008 - Red Triangle With Exclamation Mark / Check Engine Light Turned On
This morning I started my 2008 Prius (approx. 31k miles) and found the big red triangle with an exclamation mark and check engine light turned on.
I drove my car <1 mile to a smog check station where they ran a diagnostic on it and came back with the P0A9C code.
A quick internet search turns up that this is "HYBRID BATTERY TEMPERATURE SENSOR "A" RANGE/PERFORMANCE."
Prius (2001-03) :: Red Warning Triangle And Check Engine Lights Came On
So I was driving for a couple of hours today in my recently acquired 2001 Prius, when the red warning triangle and the check engine lights came on. The car seemed to still drive fine (70 ish mph cruising). HV Battery? P3000 P3020 Error codes.....
View 17 RepliesPrius (2001-03) :: Engine Light And Triangle Exclamation Point Is On
I am getting a 3006,3011,3015 code from my 2001 prius. The car only has 56k miles on it but sat for 8 months without starting or unplugging the batteries. I am wondering if i need to replace bank 1 and 5 on the battery to get the engine light off? The car runs fine and drives great but engine light is on and the triangle exclamation point is on but that's it for lights. What do i need to do? Replace battery altogether? recharge the effected banks?
View 19 RepliesPrius (2001-03) :: Red Triangle / Hybrid Warning And Check Engine Lights Illuminated
This afternoon, after driving about 150 miles, I came home and shut off my 2001 Prius. It was sitting for about 20 minutes before I turned it back on to drive off. Almost immediately, the hybrid warning light came on on the MFD, the red exclamation mark light illuminated, as well as the check engine light, and the motor shut off. I popped the hood, and could hear a high pitched squeal coming from near the inverter. I called my dealer to ask the service department what I should do, and they just told me to bring it in and they will take a look at it. I live over an hour away, so I don't want to bring it there if I can avoid it. I then shut it off and let it sit for a few hours.
After reading about the possibility of the auxiliary battery being bad, I went and turned the Prius on, and then shut it off several times to reset the hybrid warning light (I had to do so in order to access the aux battery information through the MFD). It turned on without incident, and shut off fine, and after being reset the hybrid warning light shut off, as well as the red triangle light. Then, I went through the process of pulling up the battery voltage information through the MFD.
With the car off, and the lights and fans off, the battery voltage read about 10.0-10.5 V. With the lights and fan on, the voltage dropped to about 9.5 V. After getting those readings, I drove it down the road a little ways, just going about 20 mph. It seemed to work fine. The check engine light is still illuminated. With the motor running, the voltage reading was 13.2 V, and then when I got back from my test drive and shut it off, the voltage hovered at 10.6 V with the lights and fan on.
