Phaeton :: 2006 V8 - Seat Heater On Front Passenger Doesn't Turn Off / Brakes Squealing
Knock on wood 38,000 km and only now had my first set of real problems.
1. Seat heater on front passenger doesn't turn off
2. Brakes squealing
3. Keyless Fob really doesn't work well
I must say after my 05, this 06 is truly a blessing. I can't begin to tell you how utterly amazed I am with this vehicle on a daily basis. Why doesn't the car have any speakers in the rear window deck? Was sitting in the back seat on Valentines Day and was amazed at how weird the car sounds without speakers in the rear? Was truly amazed that my rear passengers couldn't hear how great it sounds in the front.
Phaeton :: Seat Heater Activated Even Though Switch Is In Cooling Ventilation Mode
Recently, I've noticed that sometimes my driver's seat gets hot, even though the switch is in the cooling mode. I had gotten in the habit of turning the switch back to the detent "0" setting, and then put it back into the cooling mode (-1 to -3) and all would work well again. However, yesterday, that little trick didn't seem to work and so it seems my seat heater is being activated even when the switch is supposed to be telling it only to run the seat ventilation fan. Is it likely just a failing switch?

My rear seat headrest on one side is always up, and I can hear a motor running in the rear seat back whenever the engine is running. Shut the engine off, and the head rest remains up. I couldn't push it down with any reasonable amount of force. Does it need a complete headrest motor, or can the existing one be repaired?
View 1 RepliesPhaeton :: 2004 V8 - Fuel Leak Below Rear Passenger Seat
I have a fuel leak below the rear passenger seat, just off the fuel tank, something that looks like a filter or fuel pump, dripping fuel and after an hour it just stops, makes me think it`s empty. What is that thing anyways, has a hose running all the way up front? I have 2004 V8 beauty.
View 1 RepliesPhaeton :: 2005 - Rear Heat / Cool Seat Light Is Out?
I bought mine new in 2005, it is a high gloss black exterior with black interior. The wealth of knowledge pouring out from this site about this car is amazing. Recently, tonight actually, I noticed that the light for the passenger rear seat heat/cool control is out. I was wondering if this is something that I can replace myself - or I should go to the dealer for.
View 4 RepliesPhaeton :: How To Turn On Overhead Lights In Rear Cabin From Driver Seat
In my 7, if I hit the roof console center light button, it would illuminate both the front of the cabin, and my accent lights in the rear cabin, allowing me to see the kids in the back at night or ensure they have light if they can't find something.
On the Phaeton, I have not yet been able to figure out how the driver can turn on the rear cabin lights. I have the lights set on to come on when the door opens, but obviously that isn't an option underway. Is there a way for the driver to illuminate the whole cabin from the drivers seat?
Phaeton :: Seat Headrests Automatically Raise When Open The Rear Doors?
I know that this features is handy if you are over 6 ft tall but why do they automatically raise when you open the door even if the passenger measures 4 ft? Is there a way to turn of this feature if, for example you whant better access to the rear window for cleaning?

I have observed if I turn my seat's cooler on, it will cool "slightly" for few minutes (~15min) but then it will heat to a point as if I am turning the heating mode not the cooling mode.. Or is there a right way to use this feature such as I must turn it on minutes before I sit ..
View 13 RepliesPhaeton :: Oil Cooler Coolant Leak - Swap Engine?
I take my 4.2 to a great mechanic in the Minneapolis area. I took it in for some pretty hefty service. Control arm bushings, ATF change, and timing belt. My car has 205k miles on it and I feel like shes got another 100k in her. Lots of highway miles. I mentioned that I noticed a small coolant leak in the right front. He gave a compassionate grin and he seemed to know exactly what it was. He told me about a plastic pipe near the oil cooler that leaks. He's seen it on a handful of A8s. Told me to read up on it...I wish I hadn't. It seems like one hell of a job. Engine needs to come out.
My question is, if the engine is coming out and I've got 205k on it, do I take the opportunity to buy a used low mileage engine and enjoy another 200k+ miles? For those with experience regarding this leak, is this something I can live with, or does it continue to get worse? The system holds pressure as it is. It's a very small leak.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Rear Seat Won't Fold Down
I have a 2006 Sonata, and surprisingly I don't think I have ever needed to fold down the rear seats. However, the other day I was bringing home a rug from Home Depot and discovered that I cannot get the right rear seat to fold down. The latch at the top of the seatback simply does not budge when I try to pull up on it to fold down the seat. I checked the locking mechanism, and it is not locked, so I don't know what the problem is.
I even flipped it back and forth several times between locked and unlocked, just in case something was stuck in that mechanism, but that didn't work. I also disconnected the middle seat belt, thinking that perhaps the seat is not designed to be folded down when the middle seat belt is in place, but that didn't work either. The latch on the left rear seat works just fine. Unfortunately it is the smaller of the two, and so is generally less useful.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Front And Rear Seat Removal?
I do have heated seats and a power driver seat. I need to remove my seats in order to dye/paint my carpet. Any guide where to start with this? Seems kind of difficult.
View 5 RepliesLexus GS 2006-11 :: Water On The Floor In Rear Seat Carpet
All- Yesterday i had the car in a driveway (incline of ~5Degree). I gave the car a nice wash (both above and under the car and got it in the garage so that i can wax it. removing the rear carpets (both Driver and pass side) i saw it being damp..
Pulled out the carpet and the rear of the car(see pics) was soaking wet. there was absolute no water in the driver and passenger well. I am not able to figure of the reason. Also the temperature is ~50 in Michigan so have not used the A/c for almost a month..
This is what i have done:
Looked at all the seals (the ones visible)- looked ok.
Took a horse and gave a nice under body wash.. no water came up
Checked the sunroof.. the sides of the seat were not wet (I think no water came from there)
All the door moulding, dry..
Am I missing some seals.. or am I overlooking something.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Rear Seat On Passenger Side Won't Fold Down

View 3 RepliesAccent MC (2006-11) :: Hissing Sound Coming From Rear Seat
So I ended up removing my rear seats of my 2010 hatchback gs, but there is now a hissing sound coming from the rear where the seats were. The sound starts as soon as I start the car up until I shut the car off. I'm assuming that this noise has always been there just noticeable because of the seat removal. Is this just the fuel pump?
View 8 RepliesPhaeton :: 2006 - Sloshing Noise Coming From Rear Passenger Door
Car is 2006 SWB 3.0 Tdi.
I've recently noticed a sloshing noise coming from the rear passenger door - I would estimate between 1 and 2 litres in there! I can't find any other post with these faults, so I've a couple of questions.
Firstly, I'm guessing the ingress is from the seals at the bottom of the window. I can't find a procedure to replace them...
Secondly, how to get the water out... It seems the water will be trapped in there - there's no natural way for the water to escape. If so, I'm tempted to drill a hole to let it escape.
Where would be best to drill the hole? Where water ingress is likely to accumulate?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Possible Plugged Oil Cooler Or EGR Cooler?
I have a 04 that has 153k on it. 4" cat back exhaust with no cat. SCT tuner running a custom street tune. New FMIC with the extra tune on it. Head gaskets where done at 90k along with ARP studs. EGR cooler, The oil cooler was cleaned, New coolant tank. 1-new head and The cooling system was flushed at 90K. All done by the dealer along with some other items. Installed a bypass coolant filter at least 60k miles ago.
I have been having a no heat issue sometimes at idle this past winter and a mystery loss of coolant. I replaced the cap with a OEM one. I did a vacuum test on the coolant it held at 25 inches for well over a 1/2 hour. Pulled the egr valve it looked somewhat like tar inside not 100% dry. At startup it sometimes blows some white smoke and other times it's black smoke. I've had the scan gauge on for the last week to check my deltas.
Running 65mph the deltas stayed around 10 degrees diff.
Running 70mph the deltas stayed around 14-16 degrees diff.
Yesterday just running around rural roads 55mph and under the deltas stayed around 10 degrees diff.
I have not found a lower pressure gauge to do a coolant pressure test.
It does look as though it has burped the cap. Because of the deltas I'm thinking a plugged oil cooler my be the problem.
Passat (B5) :: Seat Heater Stopped Working
My seat heater decided to stop working a few days ago when the temp. dropped down to -30deg Celcius. I checked the fuse today and all is well. I couldn't see any loose wires under the seat either. Both seat warmers stopped working at the same time.

So the driver side seat heater won't work, I swapped the switch with the passenger side and it won't work (but the drivers side switch works on the passener side), the fuse is alright. What am I missing?
