When I drive in a parking lot or parking garage and start off into a slow, tight corner, I feel a "surge". If I had a locked diff I would understand. I have a Haldex composition controller. I am not bothered about it...just wondering what it could be. Maybe the clutch slipping?? No evidence of that at full throttle acceleration runs in the higher gears.

2001 01 1.8t... Hoping this isn't a bad ABS module. When I bought the car, I was told it was a bad wheel sensor in the drivers side. But, the funny part about this is its not on all the time, sometimes it doesn't even come on and the dash is normal.

My wife was driving this morning and the car stalled when she was accelerating from a stop light. Battery light came on and she could not restart the car no power. When I got there she was able to start the car again. I drove 10 feet when the car stalled again. Noticed that the EPC came on smelled rotten eggs or sulfur from the exhaust.
Used jump cables and car started, battery light gone but EPC light came on and stays on, no blinking. I drove back home about 13 miles and no problem. Took battery to test and did not hold charge, I will replace battery. Car was at the dealer for two weeks to get the CAM, cam follower and high p fuel pump replace. Is just a battery issue or another issue for the EPC light?
Passat (B5) :: Rear Parking Light Went Out, But Brake Light Works
Recently purchased a 2001.5 Passat, and of course got the mod itch... started with an Neuspeed ECU flash & DV, along with K&N... and now I'm in the process of suspension & exhaust... Unfortunately the past week, I was told that I had a tail light out.... Upper Rear Passenger Side Parking/Brake Light.... So I figure, hit up the parts store, grab a new bulb, and I'll be set...
Well, come to find out that it's not the bulb....
The light works when I brake, so 1/2 of the bulb is good... but the parking lights won't come on that side, but on the driver side everything is good..... even with the new bulbs..(replaced both on that side[passenger] just to be sure.)
So, just out of curiosity, I took one of the old bulbs that I thought was shot, and put it in the drivers side, and what do you know... it worked flawlessly on that side...
So, I'm led to believe I have a short... or a wiring problem somewhere... but I can't see how this could have just happened without really messing with anything... I mean, I disabled the DRL's.... but I even undid that(small piece of tape covering the B prong)... just to make sure..
Passat (B5) :: ABS Light Solid And Brake Light Blinking
Since i have owned my car the brake and ABS lights have been on (bought it like 2 months ago) i have a solid ABS light, and as long as the ebrake is down the brake light blinks.
Through searching I found that i most likely have a bad abs module. Before I take it out and send it to get repaired, i was wondering if there is anything else that i could check.
I also used VAGCOM to try and talk to the brakes and there is no response from the controller.

I have a 99 passat, v6, 5 speed , 110k. ABS light was flashing for past 6 months and I decided to have module replaced by another used one. So put everything back together and ABS light is still on (ok, maybe bad used unit too) but I have another problem now, my rpm's are not working and oil light starts flashing too. So I unplugged ABS and my rpm's came back, oil light is not flashing any more. I am little confused now, is there a wiring problem that just happened in a bad time ot these two are related? Car does have a traction control too.

2009 Passat 2.0 TSI. Purchased new in Nov. 2009. The car is 2 years and 3 months old. It has 28xxx miles. Maintenance regularly performed. (Mobil 1 0W-40 every 4-5 thousand miles...)
I was driving the car yesterday afternoon when about 2 minutes after leaving home the car's check engine light turns on along with the EPC light after a minute. the car started to stutter with light smoke. I drove home immediately to call the dealership. I scanned the car and it had two cylinder related fault codes. I believe 'Cylinder 2...' and 'Cylinder disabled?' Unfortunately I did not write down the codes as I was in a fury.
The dealership tells me to bring the car in as soon as possible 10 minutes later, I turn the car on and relatively heavy white smoke continues with excessive stuttering especially while in park. Additionally, the muffler sounded as if it was sputtering out the white smoke (1920s train in color and noise). I drove the car slowly to the dealership and noticed difficulty accelerating to 15 miles per hour. I did not try to go above that.
I just had the intake manifold replaced 4-5 weeks ago since I had a check engine light related to that.
Passat (B6) :: Use The Original Backing Light As The Rear Fog Light?
looking for info to install rear fog light into my Passat B6 Sedan. I have noticed it is often here in the forum said that you need to change the left reverse light in the trunk hood to an european rear fog light; oempl.us seems to even sell them.
However, i would like to ask if I could just use the original backing light as the rear fog light? Of course the white bulb needs to be replaced with a red bulb, but are there some limitations why I should use extra money to buy a "real" rear fog light? I have understood that the reverse light wire is just moved to another connector so basicly the reverse light should work - am I wrong?

As I got to work today, I took the off-ramp particularly enthusiastically. At the very end of the ramp, I got a huge red warning on my MFI saying 'Fuel Pressure Low, Engine off'. Error message was on for maybe 2 seconds. I checked my tach, no dip below 2k, throttle response was normal. Car has run fine after that.
My hypothesis of this happening: I was low on fuel. Indicated range was 40 miles. When I took that corner hard, gas must have sloshed around in the tank in a way that the fuel pump didnt 'find' any gas for a couple seconds - causing the error. As the fuel settled in the tank, got back to normal.
Prius (Gen 2) :: Flashing Big Red Triangle While Cornering / Braking - Low Oil Pressure
If your Gen2 Prius Big Red Triangle is flashing intermittently (especially while cornering / braking) this is a reminder to pull into the first gas station you see, check the engine oil and add enough oil to bring it up close to the full line.
Most likely you have only a quart or less of oil in your engine and your engine has excessive oil consumption issues.
The damage is done and it will continue to burn oil so check it often and carry extra oil in your trunk.
Golf VI R :: Oil Pressure Warning Message During Aggressive Cornering
At times when taking my beloved R aggressively through a long, tight turn (e.g. highway cloverleaf on ramp), usually while while accelerating, I get an oil pressure warning message (turn off engine immediately)...which goes away immediately once I straighten out/ease off on the aggressiveness.
Is this just an indication that oil is a little low? I can't say specifically what the interval vs. the last oil change was when I've had this happen.
Golf IV R32 :: Slight Whine At Low Speed / Hard Cornering
I get a whine when I'm driving hard under low speeds and accelerating (only when really aggressive). Is this cause for concern? Haldex whine I'm assuming?

Got the cornering lamp failure (AFS) warning this morning. How easy this is to replace and what the bulb part number is. Did some searching and found that it might be an H7 bulb. Is that correct? Would like to avoid a trip to the dealer if this is pretty easy to replace.

Have some issues with my power steering pump. When I purchased the car i discovered it had brown fluid in it. Replaced it with green type and tough the pump had taken no damages from it. Did a track day with slicks (Toyo R888) and got problems with fluid boiling and loss off power in hard cornering.
My first thought was that the pump was damages by the wrong fluid. Before I got around replacing it the pump started making more and more whining sounds while driving on normal road with road tires.
Therefor I replaced the pump but the sound still continues. I changes the belt tensioner as well since the bearing could cause some issues like this as well. But the pump still struggle on normal road usage.
Could the steering rack be damaged with some internal leakage from the wrong fluid on it when purchased? I run DLI engine mounts, I can't see how but would that affect the sound from the pump?
Could there be any bearing on the belt (water pump/ac/alternator?) causing this issue? When running idle the belt runs fine with out any typical shot bearing sound.
Ford - Escort :: 1999 - Clank In Rear Axle When Cornering
It's the '99 Escort again, about 80K miles, now with the son and his bride in Chicago. He reports a clanking noise, maybe from the "rear axle" (a misnomer, I believe), when cornering at the high end of normal cornering speed (15 mph??). No noise at low speed. No info on if the noise is periodic or if it varies with speed (except on/off). No info if braking changes the noise. Lug nuts are tight (my not hopeful wild guess of a cause). I told him it's probably not DIY anyhow, and the car goes to a mechanic tomorrow. What we should expect to find (just to gain confidence in the diagnosis)?
