Prius (2004-09) :: Rhythmic Sound From Front Right Wheel Area

Starting at 47000 miles I noticed a rhythmic sound coming from the front right wheel area. The sound increases or decreases with speed. I waited another 6000 miles, rotated and balanced tires with no change.

Infiniti :: 2000 - Rhythmic Sound With Very Slow Speed Braking

2011 infiniti. new rear rotors/pads 6k miles ago. now there is a rhythmic sound with very slow speed braking. like a bad spot on 1 rotor. you hear a grind, stop, grind, stop. its not a constant grind sound. i looked at both rear rotors thru rim slots. rotors look perfect. very smooth. i have not pulled wheels to check. i am thinking rotors making sound vs pads making sound. but why would a rotor have an odd spot or rough patch? there is no ridge at all on rotors. cant see the pads rubbing on some rust ridge? there is none....

Civic - Honda :: Loud Fast Rhythmic Thumping Sound When Got Onto The Highway

I was driving my son to Mygym this morning and everything was completely normal, but when I got onto the highway for the last 5 minutes of the drive my car started making a loud fast rhythmic thumping sound. I thought it was my tire and slowed down to stop... and then in stopped. So I went a little faster and as soon as I hit 50, it started again. I slowed down and drove the rest of the way to my sons class and looked at my tires and they looked fine to me (I have no idea what a tire should look like, but I can tell if one is very flat... I think). I also looked under the car for any obvious debris or whatever and didn't see anything.

We had our class and when I got back on the highway and accelerated to 50, it started back up again, so I slowly drove to our exit. By the time we were nearly home I wasn't even thinking about the problem anymore, but in the 45 zone near our home it started thumping again... sure enough, I was going 50. I am also wondering if it is safe to drive my car as long as I stay under 50? I have no other means of transportation and we need to go out pretty often (daily) for classes and therapies for my son.

Civic - Honda :: 1999 - Rhythmic Thumping / Grinding Sound While Braking

I get a rhythmic thumping sound from my right front wheel when braking. The sound gets slower as the car slows, and when very slow sounds more like a grind than a thump. I can feel the vibration through the brake pedal. I've had this problem before, and had my wheel bearings replaced -- fixed the problem, but after about a year the sound came back. Just had the car inspected and brakes are in good shape (at least those parts checked out by the state inspection). Could it just be that I need to get the wheel assembly tightened up? (It's a '99 Honda Civic with about 145K on it, if that matters)....

Ford Ranger / B-Series :: 2010 - Rhythmic Sound Only After Engine And Tranny Are Hot

Last week I noticed a slight "whomping" noise in my 2010 Ranger. Not a knock, not a ping, nothing that sounds metallic. Just a rhythmic whomping sound that only shows after the engine and tranny are hot.

It only does it in Drive or Reverse; and not in Park or Neutral. The tech at the dealership (30k on the vehicle) says he thinks it is a bearing in the torque converter.

Passat (B6) :: 3.6 - Rhythmic Knock Coming From The Motor

I recently bought a 2007 Passat 3.6 and am now noticing an odd sound from the motor. When I am at parking lot speed, just barely giving it gas (1000 RPM or so) I can hear a dull, almost rhythmic knock coming from the motor. It's similar to an exhaust "lub-dub" sound, but not. I brought it to the dealer under it's bumper to bumper warranty and they told me that it is a normal sound for the vehicle "in this configuration". Is this really normal?? I'm worried that it isn't, and just about the time I'm out of warranty it'll be a big deal. The car has 32K on it and the engine has 20K. Yep...it blew and was completely replaced at 11K.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 - Pulsing Air Sound On Start Up

What this sound is / caused by? This is my Dad's Golf, the sound subsides after the engine warms up a little. It runs fine, power and all. I took off the top timing cover, nope that wasn't it, no rubbing as the sound persisted. Thinking maybe an injector o-ring? The car has 130,000 miles and change on it.

Phaeton :: Pulsing Ticking Sound Coming From The Steering

Funny pulsing ticking sound on full lock. Only noticeable when parking etc. But once it's started making it, it stops when the lock is unwound... but does it again without lock when the car reverses.

There is no feeling through the wheel or through the chasis when going forward... but subjectively it can be felt when going backwards.

Been getting a little bit more prevalent over the last thousand miles. Driving normally, steering feels perfectly normal.

I've checked the power steering fluid. If anything the reservoir is over full.. so it's definitely not short of fluid. Should the fluid be checked from unscrewing the dipstick.. or with is jut dipped in and not screwed up? Either way it's still over the max line.

Toyota - Yaris :: 2008 - Engine Pulsing Sound Over 55mph

I just purchased a 2008 Toyota Yaris. The car is excellent with only one exception. When above 55mph, I hear a pulsing noise - a constant evenly spaced noise similar to an engine that is lightly revving on and off. If I take my foot off the gas, it goes away. Press again while I'm above 55mph, and it pulses again. I have no loss of acceleration, no bucking, and the rpm gauge is steady as she goes. It is an automatic. No noises or anything under 55mph. I'm perplexed.

Passat (B5) :: Rhythmic Clunking And Clicking Noise Around Right Hand Turns On Left Wheel

The car is a 2.8L w/ a manual tranny. The car was making a rhythmic clunking and clicking noise around right hand turns on the left wheel. So when the weight of the vehicle is applied to the left, that's when the noise occurs. The car has been in the shop for 6 days and the technicians have replaced both axle shafts (it was time to do so anyway) but the noise is still there!!! What could possibly be making that noise other than bad CV's? The rhythm of the noise coincides with the rotation of the wheel/shaft which is where they have focused. Could it possibly be bad strut mounts? This is driving me crazy!!! They tell me its perfectly safe to drive (how do they know this when thy don't know whats wrong?) but I can't imagine this can carry on much longer without something breaking.

Subaru - Forester :: Pulsing / Crunching Sound From Front Brakes - ABS Light On

My 1998 Forester suddenly began pulsing / crunching sound, from the front brakes. I had just performed full brake inspection 2 weeks before. So I removed the ABS fuse (20 amp), and the problem disappeared. Of course the ABS light is also on now, but I can drive the car. I disconnected the 4 wheel sensors from the car harness, connected an oscilloscope to each, and spun the wheels pretty fast. I get 150 MV peak-to-peak from each sensor. Must I replace the "tone rings", or just wire-brush them? Replacing the rings are a BIG job, and the wheel bearings & seals must be replaced, since they don't survive pulling out the axles from the steering knuckle (front), or strut assembly (rear).

Kia - Sorento :: 2005 - Pulsing Sound When Turn Left Driving Even On Smallest Curve

I have recently noticed a noise... to describe it would be difficult, but I'll give it a shot. There is a pulsing sound, maybe coming from my front left wheel area? It happens when I turn left driving, even on the smallest curve. From what I can tell, the pulsing sound does NOT change speed when I speed up or slow down. My initial thoughts were a bad wheel bearing, but I'm not so sure. Could it be power steering?

My Kia does have 130000 miles on it, and I just purchased it used a year ago, so I'm not exactly sure what maintenance or repair has been done on it.

Passat (B6) :: Pulsing Noise When HVAC Is Turned On

Have a pulsing noise when the HVAC is turned on (see other post about HVAC pulsing noise etc). I've traced the sound to behind the glove box, I suspect near where the cabin air filter is. I believe the blower motor is back there too? How to remove glove box to get to blower assembly...

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: 2010 Toyota S - ABS Engaging And Loud Pulsing / Creaking Sound

I own a 2010 Toyota Corolla S that I purchased with about 30k miles, I have put about 65k on it since purchasing it. When applying the brakes in dry conditions I am receiving what feels like the abs engaging and a loud pulsing sound/creaking sound. The brakes will pulsate as if I am stopping on snow or ice but no traction control or abs lights will not illuminate. This has been happening for a good while(ever since I purchased the car). I have replaced the front rotors and pads and the problem purists.

The road conditions in this video are completely dry with an outside temperature in the high 70's.... YouTube .....

Touareg :: Rhythmic Bump / Vibration At 50 Mph?

My wife and I have noticed that at right around 50 MPH we can feel a BUMP BUMP BUm that is very slight. It almost feels like you are driving over expansion joints on a concrete bridge or something just not as severe -- a more subdued BUMP. It doesn't matter if it's in Drive, Tip, or Sports mode it's still there. Mostly in 5th and 6th gears (which is right for the speed we're feeling this at). It feels too slow to be a tire problem so I'm thinking it might be drivetrain related. It doesn't do it everytime you get to 50 but at least once on the way to work you can feel it.

I'm also having a problem with a bad shimmy when we cut the steering wheel hard to make a turn from a complete stop. The whole car shakes until you get the wheel back to the center position it's like glass from then on. I was researching an earlier post and they suggested that uneven wheel pressures might be the cause for the second problen. They mentioned that it had to do with the AWD and differential sensing different wheel speeds from large differences in the air pressure. By the way we have a V8 w/ 19's and no Air Susp.

Prius (2004-09) :: Warning Lights Came On - Rhythmic Buzzing

My '05 is completely lifeless in the drive. I have been assuming it's the 12v, at least to start. So this is what I've pieced together.

My key fob battery was dying, my car wouldn't start. Had to use the physical key to get into the car. I assumed the 12v battery was dead (but maybe it wasn't); the Parking button had the faint green lights. AAA jumped the car and I limped home, trying to charge the battery with about 30 minutes of city driving, with dash lit up with red BRAKE and triangle lights as well as amber !, VSC, and something else on. The check engine amber light was NOT on until I powered off the car, at which time, only the check engine light was on and a rhythmic buzzing. The buzzing only went away when I closed the window and then the car went quiet and dark.

I only just now (48 hours later) realized to check the fob before changing battery, which, sure enough, didn't emit the red light when I pressed the buttons. After I did the battery change, the red light comes on when pressing buttons, but no response from car.

I will definitely change the 12v battery, and hope hope hope this is the fix.

Chrysler - Concorde :: 1995 - Rhythmic Squeaking Upon Deceleration?

I recently started hearing a rhythmic squeaking noise upon decelerating. It doesn't sound as though it's coming from under the hood (such as a belt noise): it sounds like it's coming from the back right wheel area. The noise isn't very loud: it's almost impossible to hear with the radio on. It isn't constant: it gets slower and slower as I continue to decelerate. If it matters, the car is a 1995 Chrysler Concorde. I don't think it's the brakes.

Nissan - Murano :: Rhythmic Thumping Noise When Car Is Moving

I have started hearing faint thumping noise in my Murano, coming from the front most likely. It sounds as if I have a bold spot on a tire and is very faint. I can also feel it faintly through the steering wheel. It's not a ticking or hard knocking noise. Also, the noise is variable depending on the speed AND the duration of noise is also speed dependent (going slow, the thump is drawn out. Going faster, the thump duration is shorter.)Here's what I have done so far but the noise is still there.

-Rotated both front tires to rear
-Inspected the tires while rotating and saw nothing out of ordinary
-Checked the pressure and everything's good.
-All lug nuts torqued to spec
-Visual inspection of brake rotors and calipers seems fine

The car has 34k miles on it and the tires are in good condition although there's about 1/8 - 3/16" usable tread left. What could this be?
