Accent MC (2006-11) :: Wiring Harness Fault In Left Rear Of Car
I have a '09 SE Hatchback. A while ago the switch that tells the car the rear hatch is open stopped working. The trunk light no longer comes on and the factory alarm doesn't know when the hatch is open or closed. The switch and accessible wiring are fine. The lower left tail light and the left license plate light have also stopped working. Both bulbs are fine. This leads me to think that there is a break in the wiring harness somewhere between the front foot well and the rear of the car.

I have a slight squeal from the left rear brake when in reverse. Doesn't do it all time and never when roads are wet. I disassembled the caliper and all looks good. I replaced the pads about a year ago and the noise just recently started, so its hard to blame that. I did not use the brake anti-noise lube......but I never have.

This has going on for a few months now off and on. Whenever drive my F hard I notice this metallic click when i go to shift hard into second. The metallic click seems to be coming from the front of the car. I also get it if I'm around 3600rpm in and stomp on the pedal in first or second. It also happens when I shift into reverse. What it could be??
It also happens when i floor it and let off and do not change gears mainly in first and second. Sometimes i get a double click also.
At first I thought something could have gotten trapped in the engine bay and it only accelerated to a high enough speed to cause an audible noise but seeing as it been 3 or 4 months I don't think its the problem. It does not seem to effect spend and it does not make the click all the time.
Passat (B5) :: Back-up Lights Not Working / Faint Glow From Left Side When In Reverse
I've got an '04 Passat and I'm having trouble with the back-up lights. The fuse was blown (which I replaced), and I just finished swapping out the bulbs. Only one of the bulbs looked burned out.
The lights are still not working, although I get a very faint glow from the left side when in reverse. I'm really puzzled that I'd get a faint light from just one side.

so today i removed the radio bezel from my 06 and i left the key on like an idiot and now my airbag fault light is on I reconnected the bezel i make sure that the plug was on and still airbag fault light is on.

At the end of my first week of ownership, I encountered problems with the rear cabin light in my car not working properly - sometimes it came on when the doors were opened, and sometimes it did not. I mentioned it to the Phaeton technician at my dealership, and we agreed to just defer investigation and rectification until the car was due to come in for its first oil change.
After I finished putting the start button in, I ran a diagnostic scan on the car, and the problem with the rear cabin dome light was the only remaining fault code. So - I kind of figured "gee, this can't be rocket science to fix", and I removed the rear cabin light assembly from the roof of the car.
I had a close look at it, and found the cause of the problem pretty quickly. When the assembly was put together, the tiny black wire that carries power to the rear cabin interior light button became trapped between the large bus bar that serves as a ground for all the switches and some foam insulation that protects the circuit board from the ground bus bar. The entire assembly would have tested out just fine when it was manufactured, but over time, the vibration encountered in transporting the car from Germany to Canada, and the vibration caused when I drove the car around during my first week of ownership caused the bus bar to cut through the insulation on the wire - hence the short circuit. All I had to do to fix it was just poke the wire out from under the bus bar. Everything works great now.
The fault code that was generated - "Rear Interior Lamp Button - Short to Earth" was absolutely dead-on, and took me directly to the problem. I really doubt if I ever would have found this problem if the car did not have such a competent self-diagnostic system.

Starting a couple of days ago, I am getting the airbag fault light on the dashboard. Can't seem to explain why. I have never changed any wiring on the car, nor installed aftermarket electronics. I recently sent for a reset my airbag module, yes my car was in a collision, I replaced passenger airbag(only 1 airbag deployed). And reconnected the module. Using the VAG COM, I scanned the airbag module, shows no fault codes, but i still have a light.. now I'm thinking seatbelts and sensors maybe the problem. Today the roads were slushy. On my drive to work a strange parking brake fault happened twice. Each time I was driving at highway speeds, not engaging the parking brake. In each case, the parking brake fault light came on, and the car seemed to go into some kind of "limp home" mode: the car would not accelerate or upshift, although it appeared to be willing to maintain around 40mph or very mildly accelerate from 0-20 mph if I stopped all the way. This was not because the parking brake engaged itself and was slowing the car - the car still coasted freely. It was clearly because the computer was limiting the car's power/speed severely. In the first case, I think it came on when I was beginning to apply the regular brakes to slow down gradually for a light; and in the second I was not using the brakes at all but did hit a puddle of slush. In both cases, it's possible the traction control kicked in, although I did not see that indicator light flash. The ABS did not get used based on sound and pedal feel in the first place, and because I wasn't engaging the brakes at all in the second case.
In each case, I was able to pull off the road, shut off the engine/car entirely, and then restart the car to clear the fault and turn off the light. The car drove totally normally from there, as if nothing had ever been wrong. There was around two hours including 90 minutes of being parked in my garage between the two events. I've never had any parking brake malfunction of any kind before with this car. So now I'm wondering when this will happen again. This does not appear to be the common problem of the parking brake button, since it never involved actually applying or releasing the parking brake and never involved me touching the button. I don't like having to quickly go from the left lane of a freeway all the way to the right lane or shoulder when my car suddenly decides to slow down for no obvious reason.
Passat (B5) :: Check Engine Light Is On - P0000 Fault Code
Check engine light is on and my code reader is giving me a P0000 code that is not listed in the Bentley's list of OBD II codes. My nose is telling me it's emissions related as the exhaust smells too rich. And the car is nearly stalling at idle. Suspect #1 is the MAF but the OBD II code does not support this.
