Passat (B5) :: 2001 - How To Remove The Trunk Lid Liner

I just got the trunk latch problem that is frequently mentioned. Reading other messages here, it seems likely to be due to the spring of the post.
I eagerly went out to remove the trunk lid liner to see if I could fix the problem, but I couldn't for the life of me find the fuzzy screws that other people indicate have to be removed

Looking for a picture of what these seemingly invisible screws look like, or a diagram indicating where they are?

I have a 2001 Passat GLX (not the 2001.5 has the clips holding the liner in)

Phaeton :: How To Remove Taillight From Trunk

I've having difficulty removing the taillights from the trunk. I'm sure it is simple but there must be a trick to do this properly. I've removed the nuts but I can't bulge the "lockwashers" per the instructions. The threaded stud is a special design and has some type of spring mechanism. I tried removing one of these a few years ago and I broke the stud. How is this done? Below are the Bentley instructions which are not useful.

Volkswagen > Phaeton > 2004-2006
Electrical Equipment
94 - Taillamps Tail light assembly in luggage compartment lid, removing and installing

Removing:

-Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical components and remove ignition key.
-Remove trim for rear lid Body Interior - Repair Group 70 .
-Release the latching mechanism - arrow - and separate the connector.
-Remove bolts - arrows - .
-Remove the lock washers and the tail light housing.

Installing: Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

-If a new taillight is being installed, remove the protective foil from the gasket.
-Connect the connector.
-Insert the taillight into the body opening.

Note: When installing the taillight housing, pay attention to the gap dimensions.

-Gap dimensions of tail lamp assemblies .
-Move the taillight by hand into the correct position in the body, hold the position and then tighten the nuts.
-Tighten the nuts using 4 Nm torque.
-Coding or adaptation of the taillight is not required after installation.
-Check the rear light function, Rear light function, checking .

Passat (B6) :: Trunk Lid Not Closing

All of a sudden (2 wks ago), the trunk lid decides when it's going to close. I open it with the key or VW sign and then it won't close. It just pops back open, I thought something was stuck, checked out the trunk-there was nothing there. It took about 5 minutes and numerous trys then it finally stayed closed.

Used the trunk again, no problems. Then last night it did it again, it took about 10 mins. to get it closed. This time I had to sit on the trunk lid to close it, but the alarm wouldn't engage. I was scared it was going to pop open when I driving so I opened it again sat on it for a few minutes, then the trunk lid stayed closed and the alarm finally engaged.

Passat (B6) :: Trunk Opens By Its Own

My trunk opens by itself. Sometimes when I hit the door open key on the remote (I've tried the spare and it's the same). Sometimes seconds after opening doors. I've gone out to find my trunk wide open in the morning...twice in the past week! The latch works just fine. Seems to be a problem with electronics.

Passat (B6) :: Trunk Lid Not Rising On Its Own

When I open the trunk, the trunk lid doesn't seem to lift more than about an inch without me having to get involved. While it has been cold here, 40's and 50's, I don't believe that should have a tremendous effect on it. Should it be lifting all the way under these conditions? If so, what needs to be replaced?

I ask because there was a slow-speed chase on the freeways 'round LA with a guy driving a Bentley Flying Spur. When he finally stopped, 3+ hours later, he popped the trunk lid and it rose to attention like I thought my trunk lid should. An hour and a half later, it wasn't pretty for the car or driver.

Passat (B6) :: Trunk Will Not Open By Itself

So my Passat 2.0T 4dr trunk will not open up on it's own.

When I press the trunk release button inside the car or on my key fob, the trunk latch releases but it will not fling up on its own.

How would I fix this? Do I spray WD40 on the latch bar??

I have bumper to bumper warranty on the car....Do I just take it to the dealers or is this something I can fix? Will the stealership try to charge me for this work?

Passat (B5) :: Trunk No Longer Latches

I blew a fuse yesterday replacing wiring on my door, and my car wouldn't start, the alarm light blinked but never sounded, and my trunk no longer latches. i replaced the fuse, and all of my problems were fixed, minus the trunk latch. it's clearly electrical, it's not recognizing that it needs to latch closed when being shut. I'm about to blindly just double check for the possibility of another blown fuse, but after that, I'm stuck.

Passat (B7) :: 2013 - Locked Key Fob In The Trunk / Any Way To Get In?

Had to leave my Passat in front of Target after spending hours trying to figure out how to get in the trunk from the backseat. I couldn't believe I was dumb enough to place the key in the trunk while putting all the bags in there!

Now we were able to use one of those door airbag tools to fish a wire in and get the driver door open by pulling on the door handle. The door unlock switch did nothing when pressed. Once I got the door open I thought all I had to do was press the trunk release button, but it was not popping the trunk as it always did before.

I went into the backseat to try and pull the seats down, but cannot find anyway to fold down the back seats. My friend said you can only release the latch from inside the trunk, but there has to be a way. I only have the one key and I'm sure it will cost an arm and a leg to get a new one made. How to get those back seats down?
