Ford Excursion :: Coolant Leak Developed After Flush

I did a coolant flush following the instructions posted on this site. In fact I did a little more than just a flush - replaced degas bottle cap, replaced thermostat and installed a coolant filtration system.

There were no leaks before I started and the only reason I did the flush was that there was green antifreeze in it.

I noticed that there was half a gallon of coolant under it in the parking lot this afternoon - the degas bottle still has coolant in it, so I drove it home and inspected the thermostat housing and top radiator hose, as well as all fittings and hoses installed as part of the coolant filter. Everything was dry.

I tracked the leak to the lower radiator hose - the one thing I did not touch as I drained from the petcock. Coolant is running down the lower radiator hose.

Could the new radiator cap have increased the pressure in the system to a point where it identified a weak point that was not leaking before?

My temps are great, ECT is stable about 188F - 190F and EOT is stable around 192F - 194F. I ran it hard and got temps up to around 200F and they both came back down to 192F range very quickly when I backed off. They were actually running about 5F higher before the flush.

I will try running the old cap to see if there is a difference, but if the lower hose is the weak point I'd prefer to replace that and run the new OEM cap.

Saturn - Vue :: Cracked Block On EcoTech I4 Engine - Coolant Leak Developed

My 2009 Vue developed a coolant leak into the oil at 130k km. I had to have replaced. GM has a technical note about this exact problem with the recommended fix: Engine Replacement. The coolant was leaking into the oil at the water pump.

The Statement from the dealership states that there was a crack in the block near the water pump. The dealership was good but a block should not break like this. Is this a design defect with the block, and if so is their a class action already started?

Golf/GTI VI :: Small Coolant Leak At 1300 Miles

I've noticed the past few days that my car has been leaking a small amount of coolant. I've only had the car a month, and it has 1300 miles on it. I'm in Texas so it's been about 100 degrees every day.

There's been a few times that I've turned off the car and the fan has stayed on for a few minutes, so it must be getting pretty hot.

I'm assuming this little bit of coolant is just coming from the overflow, but I've never had a new car do this so I'm concerned that there's a problem. I checked the fill level, and it's a hair above the LOW line, so it's within range.

Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Tire Developed A Slow Leak

I have a 2015 sonata SE with the stock 16 inch kumho summer tires. One of the tires just developed a leak, a slow one, after 5 days psi drops from 34 to 28. I am guessing I ran over a nail? or maybe valve leak? I don't recall driving over a pothole or anything that would otherwise damage the tire or rims.

Now suppose it is a nail, is it dangerous to keep it in there? will it deteriorate the rubber even more? Or is it one of those things i can leave in there, and just keep pumping air every few days?

Just wondering is it worth it to bring it to the tire shop and have the check for where the leak is and have them patch it.

I have 3750 miles on my tires, when should i get it rotated and/or replaced? How does one replace tire since there is a TPMS system? is it easy to do without dealership?

Saab - 9-7x :: Auto Leveling Air Suspension Developed A Slow Leak

I have a 2005 Saab 97x. It has auto-leveling air suspension. Recently, it seems to have developed a slow leak. When I drive all day, it is fine, but each morning when I go outside, the rear end is eight inches lower than it was when I parked it the night before. If I start up the car, the pump kicks in, and the rear end lifts to its proper level.

Passat (B5) :: Coolant Leak From Hose?

I think that it is coming from the hose that connects right to the reservoir. I have wiped it clean a few times and it always seems to be seeping from that area under the hose where it connects to the bung. I replaced the OE hose clamp with a new one and put some electrical tape around the hose but it still leaks. It does make a slight hissing sound from the area as well when I pop the hood after a long ride, but only lets off a few drips. My guess is that I may have to replace that entire hose but that looks involved as it is attached to several others.

Passat (B5) :: Mystery Leak In The Coolant Reservoir

So I started the car today, proceeded to back out, and the STOP: check coolant light message comes on. I check the coolant reservoir, and its near empty. Then I notice a puddle. Filled it back up and let it run for a bit. No leak. Looked at the front of the engine and didn't see any leaks.

Passat (B5) :: 2000 - Major Coolant Leak?

My buddy has a 2000 GLX that's been a great car, but he had an overheat situation where the car lost most all of the coolant almost instantaneously. I went over to his house to check it out, but was limited on time so I couldn't get the belly pan off and the car jacked up to thoroughly diagnose it. We filled it with distilled water and ran it so I could see where it was leaking. Seems to be gushing mostly from the back side of the engine (by the firewall) on the passenger side, but there also seems to be some leaking in the front as well.

What are the major failure points that could cause it to dump it as quickly as it's filled? Does the car have a distribution pipe like a VR that can be a major failure point? My experience is limited with the V6 engine.

Passat (B7) :: Loosing Coolant But No Visible Leak?

I started loosing a bunch of coolant on my tdi which is still under 36k and there is no visible leaks anywhere

Took the car to the dealer last night to get it checked out and they were ready to send me back home telling me there is no issue since they don't see any leaks under the car

Either way after telling them that I have already gone through 2 gallons of coolant they decided to top off the coolant and ask me to drive 200 miles.

I drove 156 miles last night since I need to get this issue resolved and now the coolant tank is empty again... sitting at the dealer while I'm typing this.

Passat - Volkswagen :: 2003 - Coolant Disappearing / No Leak

Even though I had head gasket done/timing belt/water pump & other stuff, 3 months, ago, I'm having to check the coolant level weekly & adding about 1 cup of water to pink coolant every 8 - 9 days. The mechanic who did the work tells me that adding that "little" water in "that amount of time is nothing unusual". I know of no one else who keeps a coolant log. I'm obsessed with this problem. I've spent so much on differing repair to this car - it's as if I bought a lemon.Car has 104K mi. Have coolant problem with no coolant winding up on the ground?

A Power Steering leak has developed on my 2002 Alero's driver side near the front wheel. I've been aware from other posts that it may be the Rack and Pinion, a power steering pump or a seal.
