Passat (B5) :: Grinding Sound Coming From Rear Of Car At Low Speed On Turns
I'm experiencing a grinding sound that seems to be coming from the rear of the car. I can't tell if it's the tires wearing or it's something else, it's especially prevalent at certain speeds and on a curve..........
I can hear it when going slow and proportionality the grinding is slow... as speed up it's faster and at certain speeds it's quite loud...........it there something besides the rear tires that could be causing that, rear axle? something needs to be lubed?
At first i was sure it was the tires which are turanaza's and they have gotten louder (I think) as the mile have accumulated, but now I'm not sure since i can hear it at low speeds on turns.

In the process of purchasing 2008 600hl. Wondering if any of the 600 owners can tell me if you experience a light vibration in U-turns, mainly coming from the back? I just called the servicing dealer and the SA told me that he felt the same thing when he moved a 600 for a customer making sharp turns, explaining that this is normal from the electric motors. Is this true???

I have a 2005 passat 1.8T non 4-motion and the check engine light turns on with no noticeable performance loss or idle fluctuation then will turn off in 3-4 days only to turn back on in another 3-4 days. My guess is something with the fuel, or moisture in the tank or even a stupid gas cap problem but im just shooting my question out there hoping another passat driver has experienced this same ridiculous problem.

2.0t 2006 auto Passat: Push key in, car turns over, rpms settle out, then drop out and battery light comes on. When this happens it will do it several times then fire up normal. I tryed starting it with the gas mashed and it fired up revs went up then dropped out and died. This has only started happening today. Also about a year ago had a problem with battery draining after car sits over night or for long periods of time. After VW replaced a few relays and assorted parts they changed out a window motor and that seems to have fixed that issue. No problems till now.

I saw somewhere that Passat owners could get a special light switch for the headlights that had more options. I hate that when I am just sitting in my car waiting for a friend, that the DRL's are always running. In bad neighborhoods, I don't want to attract attention to myself or my car. I wish the off position would actually turn them off.

I have a 2001.5 Passat B5.5 2.8L . I recently had a secondary air pump replaced about 3 weeks ago. Every 4 or 5 days the engine light comes on. I am not sure what the code is, but is says flow to low. I have had it back to my mechanic 3 times and the pump is working properly and the car drives fine. Engine light that keeps coming on?

I have a 2001 Passat wagon V6 with 4 motion, and the generator light keeps coming on randomly while driving. When it comes on, the power steering stops working. Once I turn off and on the car, the light goes out and the car runs normally again. I have replaced the serpentine belt, tensioner and pulleys, and they are all fine.

This started about 2 weeks ago. Every time I get gas, I fasten the gas cap tightly, and then go to start my car and it won't start. It won't turn.
I'll try once or twice, and then sit for a few minutes. Then I try again, and it'll turn and catch, but then sputter for a minute and I have to keep pressing the gas pedal..after a minute of this, it'll run OK.
Not sure if its related, but the check gas cap light keeps coming on.
Passat (B5) :: 2000 V6 - ABS / Brake Light In The Dash Is Coming On
I have a 2000 Passat w V6 thats in the shop at the dealers. The ABS/Brake light in the dash is coming on. The dealer says I need a new sensor in the ABS module. This sensor cost $700 plus about $400 in labor. Seems very pricey to me. My question is, could I buy a used ABS module and replace the bad one with the bad sensor myself? Where could I get a used or new ABS module at a good price? Is it hard to change out?

I am getting a check engine light about every 4 days. It is stupid suff like secondary air, or catalytic below efficency... Is there any way to prevent the light from coming on over these faults? When I'm driving the ABS/Brake lights come on at random and beep at me in my 1998 passat... I'm not sure why, and there should be no reason.. my brakes work fine and haven't been a problem... I never slam on my brakes either...the only thing wrong is that I have a brake light out but that shouldn't be it.... Is there something obvious that I'm missing??

I have about 75K on my 03 1.8t on started having the check engine light coming on in the last few months. The dealers diagnosis was that I wasn't tightening the gas cap enough but I don't believe that because I do at least 3-5 clicks when I close it. I'm a bit baffled. After the last time I filled up at the gas station, I noticed the cap was loose so I've ordered another cap thinking the last one has lost its ability to seal properly...
