Golf IV / Jetta IV :: How To Determine If ECU Is Chipped
Just curious if there is a way to visually examine, or any method to discern if my ECU has been chipped? The car I acquired seems to have a pretty extensive list of high quality modifications, and because I've never owned an MK4, I don't really have a baseline to use for what its power should feel like?

I just bought a rav4 and I have 3 small places where the paint is chipped down to the primer. I have never had this problem with any of my other cars. Shouldn't this paint last more than a few weeks?

I recently got my windshield glass scratched by my windshield wipers so I cleaned the window and did an inspection. It turns out I got about 7 glass chipped holes. There is 1 right in front of the driver seat so I knew about that but I didn't know about the rest.
I also checked the whole front and it's the same issue. Chipped paint everywhere.
I know it's from highway tiny rocks but still, is the Toyota paint and glass so weak or is it just my car?
Lexus IS 2014+ :: Chipped Paint Above The Deck Lid Reflectors
My wife's 2015 IS350 F-Sport (only 6,000 miles on the odometer in the year she has owned it) is showing evidence of chipped paint above the deck lid reflectors. Our dealer and Lexus corporate are not wanting to play ball and fix the problem. We are convinced that it is caused by a vibration from the reflectors when the car is moving and when the deck lid is open and shut.

I just brought home a brand new 2011 Prius base model (it was the dealership's last one...their showroom model...=D)!
Unfortunately, I forgot that the hatchback door opens up REAL high and the spoiler kissed my garage door. Now there is this white mark and I was wondering if I can fix it at home? What is the difficulty level? I'm not really a handy-man so don't want to try to fix it and end up making it looking even worse (unless it's super easy to do).
The mark is not too too noticeable...it's about the size of a pencil tip. It just happens to be white so stands out slightly against the black.
Also, most important, will this small blemish get worse over time and cause the mark to get larger over time (I'm thinking of how a crack can propagate and eventually cause a failure...except this won't be as serious)?
Passat (B5) :: 1997 VR6 Won't Start / Quit Half Way Through Start Up Sequence
So my Passat won't start. Last night I went to turn it on, and half way through the start up sequence it quit. Now when I turn the key I get nothing. There's power to the headlights and everything, and the mechanic I've talked to said it's probably the battery anyways. When I do turn the key, you can hear the clicking under the hood, so I'm semi-optimistic that it's not the starter.

I just Installed a RTX HID Kit for my Passat 2014. I followed this guide.
The Lights work perfectly when the Engine is off but when I start the car, the lights start flashing like its missing the 12V required to run. Did I miss something? Do I need to Install a resistance?
Passat (B5) :: 2002 1.8T Won't Start With Key But Will Start When Jumping Trigger Wire
So I picked up a 2002 passat 1.8T autotragic from a guy because a shop said it had a bad computer. After bringing it home and talking to some local volkswagen mechanics they said it couldn't be the computer because the car would still crank. I jumped the trigger wires and the car starts right up no problems and runs perfect for sitting for a year. My question is what could be the problem? I changed the ignition switch and replaced the 40amp fuse by the computer. I am trying to flip the car so I am hoping its not a big problem and have to part the car out.

I have a 2001.5 v6 passat and it runs good most of the time, but there are moments in which i want to take off quickly and the car doesn't GO.... the engine revs slowly and it begins to move slowly as well... then if i let go of the gas completely for about a second and then step on the accelerator again.... then it will continue to run normal again...
I also have a check engine light on... and the car also takes a while to start after i put gas in it... it needs to be cranked about 4 times until it finally starts.... could this be part of the same problem??
Passat (B5) :: Car Won't Warm On Start Up
I dont drive my passat in the winter and its been in my garage since it started snowing! i go out and start it up every other day or so and when i do start it up there is no warm up period! it goes straight to idle! ive also noticed that my secondary air pump or saic doesnt kick on either, EXCEPT when it goes into idle so i know it works! all summer just fine, now that its sitting in the garage it will not go into warm up stage!

We have a 2001 passat 1.8T It has had problems starting up for over 1 year. My wife drives the car so I only notice issues with it when we go together in her car. When I first noticed the problem, it was that it took a couple more cranks before it would start and didn't always happen. Now I notice that it won't start on the first try no matter how long it cranks, try again and it starts right up. The only thing I have not done as far as tuneup is the PCV valve that I have not figured out where it is.

I have a passat b6 2.0 FSI 2006. It has 73000km. The car starts normal when it is cold, but when I drive the car for 30 min or more, and then turn off the car it will not start again. But when I stop the car more than 15 min the starter works one more time. I tried to have a look with VAG but there was no error codes.

My son has 2000 VW Passat the alarm has went off 3 times before this problem happened, you put the key in the ignition to start the car nothing happens, the radio and all the dash lights work fine. You can hear relays and sensors power up but the car will not turn over.The battery is good and the starter is good, i have noticed that the interior light does not come on when the door is opened and the alarm light(Red flashing on drivers side door) is not on.

My car died in the middle of the road a week or so ago, and when we brought it home, it wasn't getting any fire. We put new cam sensor, new crank sensor, and bought a replacement ECU. The ECU was swapped out, and the car still wouldn't fire. The ECU came with another key FOB. We tried to start the car with the new FOB key. The FOB key got stuck in the ignition, and we had to wiggle the gear shifter around to get the key out. We put the old key FOB back in the ignition, now it is trying to get stuck occasionally.
We put the old ECU back in the car since the new one didn't fix the problem. Ended up replacing all four coil packs. Using the old FOB key, the car will turn over and gets fire, but will not start. Each valve was checked, and 120 PSI readings were obtained. All fuses are getting correct voltage (info on correct readings was obtained from VW tech in Louisiana who did troubleshooting over phone). Next problem...parking brake was engaged, during all this, while checking all fuses and grounding...now it is stuck and can't be disengaged unless car is running.
Had the car towed to the local dealer, and they say they checked it out and the car needs $4700 dollars worth of parts and labor. They claim it has a bent valve, and bad fuel pressure regulator. They didn't use any diagnostic tool though to read codes. They stood outside with the hood up. The mechanics could not start the motor, and they said they wouldn't be able to read any codes cause the original radio is not in the car. I think I am gonna call their bluff. Is it possible that the immobilizer could have been activated, as a result of us using two different key FOBs, thus prevent the car from starting? I have read that the immobilizer can shut off the fuel supply and prevent the car from starting.
Passat (B5) :: Alarm Keeps Going Off And Car Will Only Start During The Day
The alarm has been going off during the day for two days now. About four days ago the fuel tank door switch went then the alarm started going off two days later that night the car wouldn't start and only the dash, radio, and locks would work. there was no blinking from the alarm indicator this morning the I heard the alarm going off, and the car would start, also during today when i was in the trunk, the trunk light was going in and out CCM? and/or bad wiring?

I hadn't driven my car in 6 days, tried to start it today, and it won't start. I just get a rapid clicking sound. If I turn the key halfway (just to turn on the electric stuff), I notice the EPC light is on. Do I need to tow the car to the dealer?

Passat (B5) :: At Start Up Got ABS And ASR Light?
the last two days when i start my car the ASR and ABS lights come on! I shut the car off and wait about 3-4 secs and turn it back on and they dont stay on! is this my abs sensors failing?
