Passat (B5) :: Steering Shakes Badly?
I took the car in for a steering vibration/jiggle problem (and a 60K mi service), and the dealer replaced the axles/driveshafts under the powertrain warranty.
It seemed fine when I drove back home, but recently I've been noticing the steering shake again. If I remove my hands from the wheel, it jiggles and pulses to the left and right by itself. Whenever I turn the wheel off center left and right, (while moving; mini-slaloming, I suppose) the wheel resistance pulses back and forth... it isn't creamy smooth. And finally on the freeway, the front end seems to hop... it's rather disconcerting.
Can any of this be cured by the powertrain warranty... or am I looking at some suspension/steering work?
Passat (B6) :: Engine Shakes Badly And The RPM Keeps Bouncing
Ok so here's the thing. I put an intake on the car. But the engine shakes badly and the RPM keeps bouncing. There is no air leak. Is there any vag-com programming that needs to be done for the intake to work since it is going to be different than the stock one? t is a 2.0t engine.

View 9 RepliesHyundai - Accent :: 2006 Auto Trans - Stuck In 3rd And Downshifts Badly When Coming To A Stop
Dad has a Hyundai Accent that hasn't had the best service history. After discovering this I started doing minor stuff (oil & filter, spark plugs, etc) on the car. The car has done 119,000km and about 2 months ago I decided to change the auto trans fluid and filter, I don't think its ever been done before and the fluid was pretty bad. I followed the tutorials exactly and everything was fine until yesterday. It seems the car get stuck in 3rd and downshifts badly when coming to a stop. When I last drove it I got home and quickly opened up the hood. I could see smoke coming from somewhere near the trans and there was a bad smell. We haven't driven the car since and I don't know what the problem is. I've checked on google and some people have used a scanning tool to get the error code, but the car doesn't throw a check engine light so will the error code be there?
View 12 RepliesPassat :: 2004 - Burning Oil And CEL Has Been On
I am the unfortunate 2nd owner of a 2004 Passat. Purchased it this year with 140k on it. The CEL has been on since June (3days after I purchased it) and despite my mechanics efforts to resolve all the issues he has just given up. It has lots of codes mostly vacuum leak related. Now I am noticing the car is burning oil and the codes the car has now is a vacuum leak code and the Turbo undercharge (P0299). Here are my questions:If my car is burning oil (not leaking) it could be worn piston rings, gasket valve cover and anything else? Could any of those also cause a vacuum leak? The P0299 code, could that be caused by a vacuum leak?

A 2000 Passat with the 6 cylinder and automatic transmission. 95,000 miles has a burning smell...especially with the heater on...Changed the oil about two weeks agao ...and now with the heater on the car smells like its burning... You can see smoke coming off the rear of the motor when the engine cover is pulled off. .
Could it be a head gasket?
Could it be a rear seal?
Could it be a valve cover gasket?
Could it be the tranny leaking?
Anything typical of these V6's that might give possible insight? Local car mechanic was looking at the car and said "take it to the dealer" ....
Prius (2004-09) :: 2006 Non-HID Lights Keep Burning Out
I have a 2006 Prius and for the past four years I have to replace my headlamps at least once a year. These are not the HID headlamps that were notoriously an issue. However, I replaced them this past July and they've both burned out again in the past month.
View 10 RepliesCivic - Honda :: 2006 - Consuming / Burning A Lot Of Oil
My wife and I just bought a used 2006 Honda Civic LX with about 90K miles. It's going through about 1qt of oil every 500 miles. No puddles or oil leaks on the driveway and the engine is clean of leaking oil. What could be causing this? Could this be attributed to a crack in the engine block? Cracked blocks are known to be a problem with this model and year and the subject of a tech note by Honda and they have extended the warranty to 8 years because of it. Have others had this problem? The car was serviced by a local dealer, Boch Honda in MA, by the previous owner and has had the oil changed every 3K miles. I have all the documentation.

View 4 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Oil Pressure Alert Comes On - 2008 2.0T Burning Oil
It's actually my dad's car, me and him both got VW the same day, labor day. me an R32 and he got a 08 passat 2.0t. First off, the car is a daily driver, currently has 19xx miles on it. it was bought brand new with 14 miles on it and has no mods.
Beginning of this week, the oil pressure alert comes on. We check the dipstick and it is bone dry. We add enough oil so that it levels off at the center/midpoint on the dipstick. Now end of this week, after about 300-400 miles, we check and the level is under the minimum, there is no leakage anywhere underneath the engine, no leaks from the oil drain screw or filter.
It doesn't puff black smoke, but that doesn't mean it still doesn't burn oil. i looked at the exhaust tips, and alot of black soot around the tips and on the outside/inside of the tips. I'm saying it has to be something internally wrong, pistons rings/seals damaged, installed wrong? I mean, where is this oil going! It's a brand new freakin car and this happens? Would this be a factory defect?

View 1 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Burning Oil Smell And Signs Of Leak
I started noticing a burning oil smell a few weeks ago after driving to and from work. Then I noticed drops of oil on the floor in the garage. I wanted to start a consumption test so I scheduled an appointment at my dealer and asked them to look at the leak.
The invoice says they replaced some screws and a bolt near the turbo and cleaned the area. That was Monday. Today there are a few fresh drops and the burning oil smell is back as I drove to work. I made another appointment for Friday. What this could be.?
I'm at 53k miles and glad it's still covered. Just hope they get to the bottom of it.
Passat (B6) :: 2007 - Burning Oil At Alarming Rate
I have a 2007 passat when I drive it constantly to turn the engine off immediately because the oil is low, it even did this right after having the oil changed. I had the oil pumped changed at the dealer per their recommendation and even after that the car still gave me warnings about low oil every time I drive it. it's to the point now that I am afraid to drive the car. I had the car chipped at 1500 miles there is now 77,000 on it so I've basically had it chipped since new.

Over the past 2 years have had oil burning from tail pipe after idling for a while. Now has gotten very bad. 98 Passat with 1.8t, no mods. If it is just the turbo I need to buy a larger one and exhaust.
