Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Hood Won't Close / Loose Release Handle
I've been driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata for about 9 months now and it recently (2 weeks ish) started to not shut its hood. I haven't gotten it officially checked out yet as I'm low in funds and don't want to shell out money where I don't have to. I know it's dangerous to drive around with my car hood open (like an inch which is noticeable). I would shut it before I start driving and when I reach my destination it would be up again. Someone (a random guy who pulled up next to me at a red light and told me he could give me a quote for my hood... and the dent on the side of my passenger door) told me it may be due to a loose hood release handle on the driver side. There was no give when I tried the handle (is this called the latch?) and when this someone tried to loosen the rust on the hood lock itself (is this the latch idk these car terms), it still wouldn't close. It would click but pop right up. It keeps clicking when I close it but doesn't fully close because I could lift it up about an inch and it'd stay that way. He said it may be due to a cable issue with the release handle.
View 2 RepliesFord - F150 :: Hood Won't Open Unless Holding On To Release Handle While Pulling Up
I have a 2006 Ford F-150, and when I pull the hood release, the hood won't open unless I'm holding on to the hood release handle while pulling up on the hood. I've been trying to figure out how to adjust it but I can't find any information on it. The cable isn't broken, as I can see the cable move, it just doesn't seem to move enough to open the hood release. How I can fix/adjust it so it will work? Do I need to adjust it at the handle, or at the actual release under the hood?
View 12 RepliesPassat (B7) :: How To Remove Hood Release
How to remove hood release and plastic trim from driver side covering wires going along driver door, left rear door and to the trunk? I am trying to install subwoofer and amplifier in the trunk need to fish wire through the car from battery to a trunk, and got staked with hood release (opener), i can't remove it and piece of plastic where you put your feet holding together. I don't want to brake anything.
View 2 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2004 - Hood Won't Release
My problem is that I get a pretty good pop from the main release inside the car. The hood doesn't come up too much, and the secondary release tab does not pop out from under the hood. I've managed to get the grille off. The tab will move back and forth a little, but then stops. Even yanking on it will not cause it to release the hood the rest of the way.
A couple of the fixes out there are spraying some lube in there (done) and popping the latch with a screwdriver (can't see how to do this on my car). There is even one for drilling a hole to get access, but I think this might be a B5 thing?
Passat (B6) :: Hood Won't Open - Release Cable Broken?
How to manage to open the hood when it wont "pop" from inside the cabin. There is not enough tension on the cable and seems as though either the cable has been stretched or either came off or broke its retainer under the hood... I noticed "TSB"s but to be honest I dont know what these really are or how they matter...
View 3 RepliesPassat - Volkswagen :: 2003 - Broken Hood Release Strap
The hood release strap broke on my 2003 VW Passat. It fully came out from under the hood while the hood was closed. I had the car at a shop the day before, picked-up the car at night and found the part dangling above the grill the next morning (the work included work under the hood so they were the last ones to open the hood). Of course the shop knows nothing about it and said they've never heard of this happening before. The part broke at the end under the hood that connects to the release point and cannot be repaired (two eyelets broke on this plastic part). I found the part can be bought on-line for about $11 plus shipping. Obviously the first step is I have to somehow get a tool under the hood to release the hood where the strap made the release in the past. The question is how do I do that?

The drivers door won't open from the outside but works fine from the inside. Are the door handles all electric in the Passat?
View 15 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Passenger Outside Door Handle Won't Work
The outside door handle on the front passenger door has stopped working. You can pull it out but it won't open the door. You can still open the door from the inside.
View 3 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Right Passenger Door Interior Handle Won't Work?
On my passat, the right passenger door handle does not work from the inside. I recently had the window replaced on that door because window slipped.. But since i got the window fixed, the handle inside does not work properly. It opens the door, but you really have pull and push the door open. I only found one screw at the bottom of the panel inside to take it off, but the rest of the panel feels pretty tight, and i dont want to break anything either.
View 4 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Release Button For Gas Flap (door) Does Not Work
My friend has a 2001 passat and the release button for his gas flap(door) doesn't work. He looked through the trunk to see if there is an emergency cable or a possibility to get it open some other way, but no luck. How he could open it if the button doesn't work??
View 1 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2000 - Power Trunk Release Won't Work?
I have a 2000 v6 glx passat. CCM recently got fried, brought to dealer and got replaced, they fixed all the leaks. I go to open with trunk with the remote and it doesn't work, so i go to the cabin and use the switch located at the bottom of the drivers door and that doesn't work either. I hear a clicking in the fuse box so i looked around and fuse 38 clicks when ever i hit the trunk release button, fuse is fine, replaced with another one too, trunk opens with key manually. when fuse 38 is removed, trunk still doesn't open remotely or with button but the clicking stops.
View 3 RepliesTiguan :: Driver Side Door Handle Does Not Release The Latch
This happened a few days ago, that the driver's side door handle does not release the latch and let the driver door open. we can open the door fine from inside. the remote key un-locks/locks the door fine. What I've tried :
- Slamming the door hard a few times,
- Pulling both the inside and outside door handles at the same time
- Greasing the latch mechanism on the door end (what hooks onto the latch)
Today I removed the lock cylinder, but from what i can see with the cylinder removed the door handle looks ok (no broken or missing pieces). What would be the next thing to do?

Phaeton :: Location Of OBD Connector / Forward Fuse Panel Release Handle
My car is getting close to the 55- thousand mile service, and correct me if i am wrong the service is not mentioned in the owners handbook unless i overlooked something. However for the first time since i have the car the service due message is counting down in the readout.
Recently the CEL came on again, giving me an opportunity to use VAG adapter to read out the error code from memory. So went to open the panel underneath the steering wheel which contains the OBD connector. And that's when i got stuck.
According to the owner hand book the compartment has a little latch to open it. The only latch i found is the one used for the hand brake release. So what am I overlooking ?
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Passenger Side Rear Seat Back Release Handle Broken

View 4 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Hood Latch Release Stiff
I noticed my hood latch release getting a little stiffer over some time to the point that my hood latch cable stretched out and didn't work. I fixed it by tying a knot in the cable to shorten the length and now it works fine. HOWEVER, it is still getting stiffer. I unhooked the 2 cable peices where they connect under the hood on the driver side to see if they are sticking, they both are smooth. I also latch the release mechanism (without closing the hood) and activated it easily. BUT still when I use it on the hood, it is very stiff.

View 3 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Hood Won't Open / Release Inside The Car Is Loose
I picked up a new CSG GTI, 6speed with Xenon and Bluetooth on Thursday. Yesterday evening when I got home from work I opened the hood to make sure everything was cool I guess. Then this morning I was going to open it again, and the release inside the car is loose, like it's hardly attached to anything.
MKVI? I know it's probably a cable issue, but it sucks to have to drive back 50 miles to the dealer, 2 days after buying it, because the hood won't open.

Ford Excursion :: Hood Release Cable Replacement?
So in order to get my hood to open, I have to pull the hood release lever in the cab, go pull up on the hood itself, then pull the release lever again, and pull on the hood to get it to finally pop. Is this a cable perhaps going bad? Or another issue I need to fix?
