Golf IV R32 :: All Warning Indicator Lights Come On And Flash When Car Starts Up
ECU is going crazy, throwing all fault codes. When I turn on my car, it starts up and runs fine but the instrument panel goes crazy and all warning indicator lights come and a flash, I even get a stop message where screen is in the middle.

The check engine light is on, all the gear indicator lights are on and acceleration is sluggish. I'm taking it to the dealership tomorrow, but wanted to know where I stood before talking to them. I don't really trust them. Transmission? Gear shifter?

I just got a call from my dad about his Passat, and am doing some research for him. He said that on his way home just now, the warning buzzer sounded, and that the 'brake' light, ABS light, traction control light and oil light all came on simultaneously. He was stuck in traffic, so couldn't pull over immediately... after about 10-15 seconds, they went off again. It then repeated once or twice for a few seconds later on the drive.
I've just done a bit of searching, but it is hard to know what to search for in this case. I did see some threads about a defective ABS module triggering the ABS and Brake lights, as well as a bad brake light switch (don't know if that has been replaced on this car yet). But that doesn't cover the Oil and ASR lights as far as I know. Any other possibilities?

My ESP warning light has been on for the past few days. Just noticed that 2 brake lights aren't working (but the centre brake light is OK). A common problem? Is is just a matter of replacing the brake light globes?

In my one-owner purchased-new 2005 Prius w/ 74K miles and w/ no maintenance/accident history other than doing all scheduled maintenances at Toyota Dealers along w/ recalls applicable at each time (other than we had Toyota replace the 12V battery last year just because I knew it would die at some point anyway and I don't like pushing my luck; I'm not 100% certain if there's been a recall on any water pump for this car and if so, don't believe the dealer has mentioned it), I have the following indicators which appeared all at once while I was driving along at around 45 MPH in no unusual circumstances (80F, dry afternoon, about 30 minutes into a trip of mixed speeds, no loads in the vehicle, no effect on the car while driving):
From Left to Right on the display:
1) Red Triangle - Master Warning Light
2) Orange (Symbol)CHECK - Malfunction Indicator Lamp
3) Orange (!) - Brake Warning Light (but it didn't highlight the word 'Brake' in red)
4) Orange VSC - Vehicle Stability Control Warning Light
On the Screen:
Orange Car w/ the ! symbol - Hybrid System Warning Light
We immediately aimed for the house (about 5 miles away); the car drove perfectly fine, with the engine stopping and starting at lights as needed, with speeds going from the 55MPH we were traveling at the time of the alarms down to 0 and back up thru 35/45 MPH and such per normal off-interstate driving. The battery currently shows all the blue bars, and the engine and hybrid systems showed charge/discharge as usual as we drove. There was no discernible change in the driving reaction of the car to brake, steering, accelerator, etc.
Passat (B5) :: 1998 - Shift Indicator Lights All On - Rough Shift From Park
Today, without explanation the shift indicator on the dash on my 98 Passat Wagon highlights all gears. When you shift to any gear. . . . the display does not change. Further, shifting is rough from 'park.'
I noticed this problem after looking at all the fuses to see why the radio was not powering up. I have checked fuses. . . . and unplugged the battery and plugged it back in.

Wife was driving in the Target parking lot when the warning lights came on. Car shuddered and died shortly thereafter. I just had the car in for them to replace a leaking bolt on the oilpan. After I got the car back the power steering would go off for small periods of time. The idle was also raised to approx 1000rpm. It used to idle at 500 prior to the replacement of the bolt, car was jittery at a stoplight, vibrating alot and jumping when you released the brake. Its in the shop now, and they are installing a new alternator. They will check on the other issues once the alternator is done. Its a 2007 B6 4MO Wagon....

Yesterday while driving my B5 Passat suddenly I heard 2 beeps and a STOP is displayed together with the ABS and brake warning lights just for a few seconds then turned to normal. I took the car to the VW service they've connected the car to the diagnostic system and said no fault. Since yesterday I saw this warning 1 more time. They recommended me to replace the break fluid tank where the fluid level sensor is mounted on, just for replacing the sensor since the fluid level is ok.
Today while the engine is running at idle I pulled out the break fluid sensor cable for 1 or 2 minutes but nothing is displayed and saw no break indication. What will be reason for this?
Passat (B5) :: All Dash Warning Lights On Within 1 Hour Of Driving
Diagnosing a few dash warning lights that come on all within an one hour of driving. While driving to a family gathering and after only 5 minute into the drive a get a warning light that looks just like a car battery. A minute after that I get "Alternator Workshop". Rather than stopping on the freeway shoulder I kept driving, because my 3 month old daughter on board. I would hate someone to plow into us. Therefore, I kept driving on slow lane without problems until15 minutes later I feel this thump and the car surges for a second. I thought it was a blown tire, but the ABS & another symbol (exclamation point w/semi-circle) & Airbag system lights came on all at once.
Luckily I was near an off ramp and I exited and pulled into a shopping center. Since it was already dark out, I did notice that my all my lighting and headlight were dimmer than usual and I also noticed less power from the motor. I quickly looked at the manual to find out what all these warning symbols meant. The battery symbol means problems like be loose or broken alternator belt or faulty alternator. I am hoping all these warning light are not separate repairs, but a single problem, like a bad battery, loose or broken alternator belt that is hindering all these other functions (ABS & airbag system).
Passat :: 2006 - Warning Lights Came On - Car Went Into Limp Mode
We have a 2006 Passat, 30K miles, live in northeast on a Great Lake. We bought it used in 5/07 with 11K miles on it. The other day, a whole mess of warning lights came on, and the car went into "limp mode." The dealership diagnosed corroded wires where they connect to the throttle valve controller. We usually keep our cars for years, and we've never had corroded wires before. Is this a typical problem of VW's? The service mgr said he'd seen about 6 come in in the last year, but I don't know if that's a lot or a few compared to other brands. We're getting ready to shop for cars again, and we'd consider a new Jetta, but not if it can't go out in the rain. Also, if the wires corroded once, what will keep them from corroding again? Should we expect this to keep happening?

Suddenly, while starting the car I see the ABS & Brake warning lights come on for a few seconds and then turn off. After a week of driving it the warning light come on and stay on and now another light comes on that looks like a circle with an exclamation mark in it. Am I in danger of damaging anything if I keep driving it? I called the dealer and explained the problem and he said the problem is a faulty ABS Control Unit.

Last night I was driving my '99 Passat when suddenly I heard this loud alarm in my car. Quickly looking down I saw what I think were my ABS and brake indicator lights on. It happened so fast, maybe less than a second and everything was back to normal.
I was driving on dry pavement on country roads at about 60 mph. Outside temp was 37 and there were major gusts of wind, maybe 40 mph or so. Vehicle has about 115,000 miles on it.
Checked my manual and it said to have it checked.
Passat (B5) :: ABS And Brake Warning Lights Start Flashing Intermittently
Had a small brake fluid leak from my right-rear wheel, so I took it into a local place called Wheel Works. They said the right-rear caliper needed to be replaced, so I told them to go ahead.
Two days after I pick up the car, the ABS light and brake warning lights start flashing intermittently. They'd come on at random times, and then turn back off. After about 2 weeks of this, the warning lights are now on all the time.
I've read elsewhere on these forums that the ABS module on our cars can go bad and might need to be rebuilt. But is it possible that the mechanic caused this problem when he was working on the brakes to replace my caliper? Could it be something more minor than the ABS module? I now have reason to believe this mechanic is shady, so I'm hesitant to bring it back there.
Passat (B5) :: 2001 - Cluster Warning Lights Come On - A/C Stops Working?
I have a 2001 Passat GLX. On occasion (usually when it is hot) the cluster will reset as if the key was cycled while you are driving. All the cluster warning lights come on, the needles drop to zero, and the trip odometer resets.
When the is occurring it also seems that the A/C stops working and the the car will tend to lock itself and set the alarm. Well except the driver's rear door doesn't actually lock.

Passat (B6) :: Multiple Warning Lights - Trans Stuck In 3rd Gear
I was driving and the red BRAKE came on flashing and it beeped. Then the message came on saying Emergency Brake Failure - See Manual. Then the Emergency Brake light came on. Next the Antislip light came on. After a few miles another light came on - ESL or something like that. Then the ABS started kicking in almost every time I stepped on the brake. Later the trans stuck in 3rd gear.
Wouldn't upshift or downshift - even in TIP mode. I took it to the dealer the next day and they couldn't find anything wrong, so they gave it back to me and said to call baco or bring it in if it does it again. Then a week later it did the same thing except getting stuck in 3rd. Took it back again. This time the Emergency brake light was still on. They have had it since yesterday and still can't find anything wrong.
I suggested looking for a bad ground connection somewhere. They say they have done that. Battery is original but starts just fine. Also suggested battery cables.
It's a '07 B6 Wagon - 3.6L TIP ....
