Lexus SC430 :: Replacing Navigation System - Upgrading Stock Suspension
Is there any way to replace the stock nav system with something that is easier to use and more up to date and works? I did upgrade the disc and it's still a pain to use. My Iphone does a much better job, is easier to use. Also can upgrading the stock suspension on a 2003 SC 430, I got it a couple of months ago with 24000 miles but would like better handling but would like to keep the ride decent.

My fiance just bought a 2006 Avalon. Unfortunately she bought it certified used and it did not come with the JBL sound package. She is allowing me to upgrade her stock sound system.
What is the maximum size and mounting depth of the front and rear door speakers. Looking on Crutchfield, I would guess that both front and rear are 6-1/2" but I really need to know the mounting depth.
Ford Excursion :: Upgrading Sound System - How To Make Steering Wheel Radio Control Harness?
I am in the planning stages of installing / upgrading my X's sound system. This isn't the first time I've done an install like this before, but am running into a bit of trouble with the steering wheel controls.
I know there are options out there as far as interfacing, but my problem is finding the other harness. To be more specific, I know if I pull my radio out, there are 2 harnesses back there. One is the one you get the kit and splice the after market radio into the factory harness. EASY I Know.
Now, need a harness that plugs into the other plug? I'm not a fan of cutting/splicing into factory wires. Most of the steering wheel control kits just require you splice with 2-3 pins on that other Plug and you should be set. I'd really love to just have another adapter that plugs into that harness so I can connect what I need.

I have a 2009 SEL 4 Motion w/ RNS 510, MDI.
I am very happy with the car apart from the quality of the sound system. Coming from Audi, BMW earlier being used to their premium systems, the Dynaudio in the Tiguan is not doing it for me. There is the lack of midrange dynamics and no punch in the low tones. What would be the best way to increase the quality w/o paying too much? Also, where in the Pennsylvania/New York area are there good shops that could do such job?
Lexus SC430 :: AC System Never Blow Cold Air
Alright, Ive been working on this AC system for months and have exhausted the search function and my patience with this car.
Originally the AC wasn't working, self diagnostic test pulled code 00, compressor would kick on for about 10 seconds every time the car was started but never blow cold air.
Had an AC tech check it out, pressurize the system properly, didn't change anything at all.
Replaced the entire compressor set (expansion valve, etc…) and the AC still doesn't work, again it kicks on for the first 5-10 seconds when the car is started and this time it DOES blow cold but then shuts off. Self diagnostic code throws code 21 & 24 in both dark and full daylight.
Replaced the solar sensor today and the diagnostic code is gone (00), but nothing changed with the AC.
Pulled the low pressure switch and jumped it, again the compressor kicks on and then off after 10 seconds with the switch JUMPED!
Replaced the relay, no difference. Cleaned the air filter, no difference.

So I have a 12v vr6 jetta and I really want a better exhaust with a nice clean and loud growl. My friend has a mk5 with a full Apr exhaust that sounds absolutely amazing and I want it to sound like that and I am willing to change my rear valance to the later mk4 jetta style if needed.

The leak appears to originate somewhere around the master cylinder but I cannot locate the exact spot.
I noticed the problem when I started the car and it began to generate white smoke in the drivers side. I also knew it was not oil or ATF because brake fluid smells different. I pulled the cover by the master cylinder (MC) and could see an area that was wet under the MC.
I may have a reservoir leak but I cannot pinpoint at this time. Photos will be provided later if I can take some that show the issue.. I do know they are expensive and I do know that Toyota and Lexus recalled several models for a leaky reservoir.
Lexus SC430 :: Vehicle Stability Control System Not Activating
VSC, VCS OFF and Check Engine Light .... all came on a few minutes ago while out for a Sunday afternoon drive. Depressing/releasing the "VSC OFF" button multiple times did nothing. All 3 lights now stay on. Checked the manual which said to take in to Lexus dealer asap but could continue driving....something about vehicle stability control system not activating.

Lexus SC430 :: CEL - Evap Emission Control System Malfunction Codes P0440 And P0446
I have a 130K+ 2002 SC430 in which I recently started to smell gas in the cabin when air vents were set to pull air from outside. Within two weeks, I got the check engine light with two codes, P0440 and P0446, which mean "Evap Emission Control System Malfunction".
In doing some research the check light light could be everything from a gas cap which is not tighened properly, to a bad "charcoal canister " (whatever exactly that is), to a cracked or disconnected "Evap Hose". The only other SC430 related thread I could find on this topic is [URL] ....
If it factors in, I only use 93 octane gas. Interestingly enough, the check engine light came on within 30 seconds of me using the window washer to clean the windshield (at highway speeds), likely a coincidence.

I own a 2002 SC430 with 20,200 miles on it which I purchased new. The other day the check engine light came on. I checked it with the code reader and got the following 2 codes. P0300 (random multiple misfired detected) and C1201 (engine control system malfunction). The car ran great before, now running real ruff and when you drive it has less power.

So I've noticed an annoyance with my car lately. I've noticed when I turn either right or left upon starting my car, that i hear a small sound, as if a marble is rolling along the inner windshield but it never runs the entire length of the car to the other side. I have noticed when I make a right turn, it occurs on the right corner of the windshield. When I make a left turn it occurs on the left corner of the windshield. Never runs all the way across the windshield like something is actually rolling along the windshield edge or behind the dash.

I have recently started to hear (at frequent intervals) a loud buzzing sound that can best be described as a phone vibrating/buzzing while its on a table. The sound happens every few minutes and is pretty annoying. It seems to be coming from around the navigation area or glove compartment - i cant pinpoint it. I turned off the radio and AC and the sound is still present. My Navigation Wood cover has been STUCK for a few months (doesn't come out and shut nor tilt) but not sure if that is the cause here. What can be causing this sound?

It just happened yesterday on the freeway, as I hit a small bump. Need to mention this stretch of freeway has those extremely annoying ridges that make everything rattle inside the car, besides the deafening tire howling. But after they're gone, all used to be well. Yesterday, after said bump, this very loud noise behind the center air vents started all of a sudden. It increased with speed.
Sounded like a motor turning. Thought it was the NAV motor (which I never use), but opened it and closed it, and it functioned well. Tried the motor for the stereo cover, and also worked fine. When the motors were operating the sound persisted. The noise disappeared below 50 mph. And not even in broken pavement was present. After speeding above 50 again, now in smooth pavement, it was back. I guess it's there to stay... until 'killed'.
I HATE dealers going on a fishing expedition in my cars, so prefer to know what the heck is causing it, and preferably do it myself (don't trust the only dealer in town). I'll try to tackle it myself, but no way I can live with that noise, so a trip to the dealer seems almost certain, as I don't have a service manual yet to get behind the dash.
