Lexus SC430 :: Misfire At Cylinder 8 - Error Code P0308
The car has an obvious misfire and the scanner says its Cyl # 8. I tried the "italian" tune-up and under heavy throttle the miss goes away. I swapped coils and the miss stays with Cyl # 8. I pulled the injector, and can't see anything wrong.

My Phaeton had the typical burning oil smell so I suspected the Camshaft cover gasket. However when I looked at the service history the gaskets were only just changed in 2012.
When I inspected the car closely I found the RH EGR vacuum line was disconnected (pipe cracked through).
Unlike the Audi A8, the VW 4.2 looks like it has 2 EGR valves, and not one. So I reconnected it, and so far, the burning smell is now gone!!
I am a newbie on the VW 4.2 but is a disconnected EGR a likely cause of oil leaks? (ie positive crankcase pressure). It makes me wonder if all the people whom are changing their cam cover gaskets, should be checking their PCV/EGR's instead??

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L nonHO. I get a P0308 code that I have not been able to hunt down. It is odd because I only get the code if I restart the vehicle when it is warm. If I let it cool down all the way, no code, but if I restart after an hour or so, the code pops up. I have changed the plugs and the coil. I have run injector cleaner, but not changed the injector as I am nervous about busting the tiny plastic clips with my big meaty paws.

Started as I was warming up the truck,a slight vibration/shudder. First thing that came to mind was F150. Torqued words of wisdom that it might come back, I had a p0301 before. Had no CEL, so decided to drive it to see if it got worse. Turned onto the main road and on came the CEL. Pulled into my FORD dealer, told him about my problem. Code P0308 misfire on #8cylinder was the read out, COP was done and the plug. 40 min of labor. She's even quieter than when #1 got changed.

New to diesel trucks and wondered if this recurring code is a serious problem. I clear DTC and truck will run fine. Might stay off for 2 days or 2 months and same code comes back. Truck seems to run just fine even with service light on.

6 cyl. vortac engine, air, 4WD utility model. The HVAC controls quit working and I just drove it - then after a few months the heater core started leaking. I had to fix that. While I was under the dash getting ready to put the new core in, I spotted a T in a vacuum line that went to an actuator on the passenger kick panel, the line to the actuator was intact. But the T went about 6 inches then thru a rubber plug (round with a cone shape on one side) hanging in space and about an inch on the side that was cone shaped the end had been chewed off.
Perhaps that is why the HVAC control quit? No other line can I find that it connected to. I have not been able to locate a vacuum diagram on the 'net. Or even find a hole somewhere within range that it might have passed thru originally. Much less the other end of the line, I guess the rats took it with 'em? where this line connects? or have a diagram??

P0051 together with VSC and VSC Off Lights
Over the weekend I had multiple P0051 and VSC and VSC Off Lights CELs
I have reset them using my OBDII scanner. It keeps on coming back.
This means the BANK 2 SENSOR 1 (just before the CAT) is reading low temps and therefore throwing a code. I get this.
Question is why do the VSC lights go "ON" too?
This started when I installed my ScanGage e this weekend. This is a change point.
Before I go purchase a Denso sensor, I would like to perform a series of tests:
1.Remove the ScanGage e. Test drive if any of the CELs (P0051 and VSC) come back.
2.If the same set comes back, clear the VSC lights code using our home made device.
If the VSC lights disappear and the P0051 comes back, I will replace the BANK 2 SENSOR 1 Oxygen sensor. Prior to replacing, I will check for wiring issues on this sensor.

My check engine light came on.. so I took it to express tires.. And they said that they need to replace my vacuum hoses cause it busted ... well when I saw the guy used the obd checker thing.. after checking the codes.. i saw that when u turned on the engine.. the vsc on and vcs off lights came on..
So I figured after he fixed the problem.. it will go off.. well after he got done.. fixing the problem.. I drove away.. after bout like 2min.. i had to turn around cause the vsc on and vsc off came on.. and I told the guy to check.. And he used his checker.. and there was no problem.. and the "check engine" light is not on anymore.. just the vsc on and vsc off!!
Could the checker.. messed it up??? the vsc off button.. only works when the key is turned on.. " not when the engine started but right before it.. when the power comes on" so the button is working correctly.. it just comes on.. when i start driving the car...
And no they did not check my tire pressure or do anything to the tires or the wheels.. it just turned on.. when he inserted the obd thing to check..
And yes I read the [URL] .....
Is it dangerous to be driving with the vsc and vsc off light on??
Lexus SC430 :: T Stat Code Due To Hot Weather?
So this morning I started the SC up early to warm up a bit before I took off for work. Its 19 degrees outside. when I got into my car to leave the check engine light was on. Everything seem alright and the light not flashing so I thought I would stop by AutoZone to have code read. I was told T stat code. And that makes sense to me cause the temp gauge didn't hardly move off cold on the way to work. I noticed this once before when the temp dropped pretty low but didn't think anything of it.

Just read that a clogged EGR valve is common and reduced performance and increases emissions. Need to clean this valve? Where is it located?? Just noticed tonight that there is not a lot of suction from my vacuum lines and I wondered if this is related. Plus I have a p0430.

So yesterday I had Error 3 code display on my cd player and after messing around with the device i was able to get it to eject all the cds. Thinking all was well, i tried to load one cd and it won't even respond to me pushing on the button. There is no noise or error code coming from the unit. Whats going on here?

I replaced the engine computer (1346107) with one from ebay. Now it runs but sputters unless I disconnect the vacuum line (still sputters but a lot less). with it connected, the timing is off (to about 15-18 instead of 12). the distributor is rotated as far as it will go. Need to recognize these symptoms? Is there a procedure to test the ICU?
