Prius (2010-12) :: Check Hybrid System After Intake Manifold / EGR Pipe Cleaning
I undertook this maintenance as a preventive measure, and to see if I could bump up the gas mileage a bit. After reassembly, when I try to start it up, the engine runs for 1-2 seconds, and stops, and I get a "Check Hybrid System" error. The engine will not restart. I'm trying to figure out where I screwed things up. Right now I might have to get it towed to a shop.
I bought the Prius used last month, and it's at 151K miles. I've driven it about 800 miles since I've owned it. It had been running perfectly fine, with no check engine lights or symptoms. The scheduled maintenance items were all caught up. I had spark plugs changed, engine coolant changed, transaxle fluid changed at the famous Luscious Garage several week ago, and they said the car was in good shape. They actually recommended NOT cleaning the EGR pipe/manifold/throttle body or replacing the PCV valve if there were no symptoms or check engine lights. They said not to worry about it until symptoms occur - probably to save money. Maybe I should have listened to them, but I liked the ideal of things running perfectly.
I used information from the "missing under light throttle" and other intake manifold cleaning threads and a couple pdfs on throttle body removal and intake manifold removal from the 2010 Toyota Prius Repair Manual that Mendel Leisk had attached to another thread. I generally followed the repair manual, except for not disconnecting stuff that didn't have to be disconnected, like the coolant hoses on the throttle body. That is to say, with the manual pdfs in front of me, I'm pretty sure I didn't forget to reconnect any connectors or hoses when reassembling.
A moderate amount of dry, sooty carbon material was in the EGR pipe. I cleaned that out. The port leading to the EGR valve assembly was also filled with that dry soot, and I cleaned that out with a pipe cleaner, used dry, since I didn't want to create a sticky clog in the valve. I stuck a vacuum cleaner to that port afterwards, in case I had pushed soot back towards the valve with the pipe cleaner.

I already paid deposit to a dealer to buy a 2012 RX350. But I just noticed there are lots of rust on the subframe and attached components at the the underside of the vehicle. I made a video, but I could not upload it due to the size of the file. I uploaded some pictures for you to see. One rust spot is on the real frame. Or there is no way to clean up the rust because the rust are already there? The mileage of the vehicle is 81,000 KM)?

Don't know how to flush the Power Steering Fluid. I've done the turkey baster method on my 330 but never the full flush. What PS fluid should I use?

I just recently picked up 2015 IS350 and I'm not a big fan of being told what to do, especially my car telling me to put my seatbelt on. My 2011 ISF was supper easy. I'm driving a Ford Taurus 2004 and the car's AC is broken. When we turn it on, it starts blasting super hot air, hotter than the outside. We're told that the AC was leaking and the Freon is gone. The guy in the car shop told us that we needed to completely replace our AC system, which costs $1500. If we leave it unrepaired, then the compressor will eventually be stuck, which in turn will destroy the belt. Because the AC compressor, water pump, and alternator are all sharing the same belt in this model, breaking the belt would destroy the car.

Back on February 14th ,I had my 2013 elantra gls towed to the service dept for arching and a rough idle. It was a code for #3 cylinder and a cleaning of the coils. Everything was good until again this morning ,only this time the engine light is on with all the same symptoms. There is 14,800 mile on it, I hope they get it right this time because it is a PITA to work this around my schedule at work.

Ok, here's the issue, I've cleaned the inside and outside of the windshield with Windex atleast 3 times and it still has a hazy, hand oil smeary, appearance to it. I've also used Invisible Glass with same results.

This chart compares what my C's computer calculated for MPG to simple arithmetic. Seeing consistent optimistic numbers from your computer like I am?
The average error is -2.7 mpg and the STD is 0.85 mpg. So the error is fairly consistent. I also have shown the gallons purchased, but there is no correlation to mpg error.

The two slow engine is starting to bug me. Acceleration from 0-50km/h is getting a little ridiculous. Any way to improve acceleration performance other than stepping hard on the gas pedal and make it rev. 4km rpm ? When I compare this with my gf's 2.5L Golf its just day and night difference.

I was looking into deleting the EGR ony '03 F250 and want to learn more about it. I was looking at the different kits and wanted to get the peoples opinion on what they went with, and how big a job it was to install, did you also do the oil cooler while your in there?
I was wondering if I could just weld the ends of the cooler off, stopping exhaust gasses, essentially deleting it, but valve and coolant still flows through. Amy downside to this?

I installed an Injen cold air intake and 2 days later, the check engine light went on. I had it reset at the dealer and next day, again. Am I stuck with this or is there a way to keep it off, other than putting back the original air box?

Repaired a coolant leak under the intake? I just repaired the bad o-ring and rtv at the front coolant bypass joint. But, there is still active coolant leaking around the back side of the block and puddling on the garage floor beneath the front of the transmission each night.
So, I'm guessing I need to start removing the intake to hunt this thing down, the top of the block, just under the intake is constantly moist. But I'd like to have a list of seals and parts I'll need to replace before I start.
