Lexus RC F 2015+ :: High Pitched Whine From Rear End - Car Has Been Off For Hours
Car was in the garage. Had been off for hours. Husband noticed a high pitched whine coming from the rear of the car. Louder underneath. I opened the trunk and took out everything in the cargo net (thought something had gotten stuck in it, a gadget of some kind). Nothing there. I went to unhook the net and pull up the mat etc. and the noise stopped (coincidence I'm sure). I couldn't find anything. It didn't sound like it was coming from the wing at all (had trouble with wing being stuck down when I first got it).

I posted a related video in the fuel pump thread here where the high whine noise is apparent several seconds after a cold start. Now from inside the cabin, looking at the revs, the "sewing-machine-like" whine disappears above 1200 rpm.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2008 - High Pitched Hum Noise When Accelerating
I have a 2008 Santa Fe LTD, and just recently started experiencing a strange noise when I am accelerating, and I cannot pinpoint it. Here is some info on the noise.
-2008 Santa Fe LTD AWD, about 25,000 miles
-Sounds like a little higher pitched hum, not very loud
-Seems to be coming from somewhere near the passenger side backseat area (first found out about it when someone was sitting there and asked what the noise was)
-Cannot tell whether it is coming from the interior or exterior of the car, but I think exterior, but it is definitely somewhere along the passenger side, from the back half of the car.
-Noise occurs when accelerating from a stopped position, only when accelerating, never when braking or idle.
-Noise occurs only when car is in gear (hitting the gas pedal in park does not cause the noise to happen)
-Noise doesn't occur at high speeds or when accelerating at high speeds
-Noise only really occurs for a 2-3 seconds while accelerating, then seems to go away as I continue to drive.
-Noise doesn't seem to always happen, but very frequently.
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Brakes Making High Pitched Noise When Applied And Backing Up
With only 1,800 miles on my 2016 Sonata Limited, the brakes make a high-pitched noise when applied and backing up. I noticed yesterday the noise has also started as I brake for red lights.

There a couple of things wrong with this particular vehicle. first, that battery will not hold its charge; it also has a high pitched noise when started and only when accelerating. Where to start?
View 9 RepliesCamry :: 2010 LE - High Pitched Whining Noise When Accelerating Or Revving Engine In Park
I bought a CPO 2010 Camry LE (2.5 4 cyl, 6 sp auto) a few months ago. The car had around 34K miles when I got it, and ever since then, it has had a high pitched whining noise when accelerating or revving the engine in park. It is noticeable from around 2500RPM up, and seems to be a little louder when the engine is cold.
I have left it at the dealer twice, and both times they have come back and said it is normal. I can't believe this, because I have owned many cars over the years, most of them being fairly dilapidated, yet most of them haven't had a noise like this. I think I have read a comment online somewhere that an issue like this was found due to a bad power steering pump .
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Rattling / Gurgling At High RPMs
I came across this issue in my Sonata Turbo. At 5K+ RPMs, I can hear a sort of gurgling/rattling sound coming from the engine. Its concentrated on the driver's side behind the firewall. It goes away immediately once I drop below 5K RPMs. It isn't too loud; I didn't notice it up until now because I usually have some music going.
This is my first Turbo that I have ever owned. That would make sense because it only engages at high RPMs. My car has 3K miles on it. Been loving it so far!
Lexus LS 2007+ :: 2014 LWB - High Pitched Engine Noise On 1st Start
I purchased a 2014 LWB six weeks ago. The vehicle runs great. For the last three weeks, I hear an unusual high-pitched sound when starting the engine for the first time that day (temperature between 40-60F). See videos below. Ride height is set to normal, so I don't think it is the air compressor. You may notice that the whine goes away when the idle rpm falls from 1500 on the first start.

Lexus ES 2013+ :: Faint High Pitched Noise In The Cabin When Apply Brakes
I have been driving my new ES 300h for a few days and have noticed that often when I apply the brakes, there is a faint high pitched noise in the cabin. It's not a brake noise of any sort, its clearly some electronic component. I was just wondering if this is a normal part of the regenerative braking system or not, as it is definitely quite audible and takes away from the otherwise very quiet ride of the vehicle.
View 7 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: High Pitched Whine When Accelerating
My car has 155k miles and I haven't had any previous issues with it. I noticed probably 30k miles ago the beginning of a whine sound when the car accelerates. The noise has been getting louder (it's really not that loud) but I am wondering what this could be. I want to avoid anything happening to the car and want to find out what the problem is so I can fix it.
View 6 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2015 F250 - Buzzing / Whining / Gurgling Noise
I've got a stock '15 F250 6.7 w/ the Diesel Site FF67 fuel/water separator and a 50gal Titan Tank. I installed the filter + tank at the same time around 2 months ago; A few weeks ago, I started noticing an odd buzzing/whirring/gurgling noise (both while the truck was running, and while the fuel pump spins up right after turning the key on). I made a quick video of it this morning:
Ford F250 6.7 w/ Diesel site filter DFCM buzzing/whining - YouTube
I thought maybe it was a filter related problem (I got some little black plastic bits in the filter after installing the Titan Tank, despite my best efforts to clean it out thoroughly before installing) - so earlier this week, I replaced both stock fuel filters, and both filters in the DS filter. Didn't seem to affect the noise from the DFCM at all.
I guess my question is - does it sound like this is sucking in air? I've never found any leaking fuel (even after a 3000mi drive from TX to VA and back), and the truck has never complained about low fuel pressure as I've read that some others have run into. But I don't remember the DFCM/low pressure pump being this loud before I installed the new parts.
I spoke to the folks at DieselSite a day or two ago (those guys are great), and they mentioned that sometimes the Ford quick-release fittings work themselves a little loose from the fuel hose during the filter install, and that putting a hose-clamp around the hose+quick release fitting may solve this; I ordered from clamps from McMaster Carr that arrived today, so I may give that a try tomorrow just to see if it changes anything.
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: High Pitched Siren Like Sound While Accelerating
I just wrapped up a full day's worth of tear down/reassembly chasing an oil leak at the turbo pedestal. while I had the turbo out I replaced the pedestal with a non-ebpv pedestal and replaced the outlet with a high flow outlet. I also removed the stock exhaust and replaced it with a 4" Turbo Back from MRPB. Once I got everything put back together I hit the highway to check out the new exhaust.
To my horror I started to hear a high pitched airhorn-like sound while accelerating. It sounds a lot like an old police siren... I'm wondering if this sounds like a turbo or simply a boost leak. I obviously had everything taken apart so a boost leak seems likely (still original boots with 191,000 miles). I've ordered new boots from RiffRaff but wanted to make sure it didn't sound like an exploding turbo and that I could safely drive it until I can fix the old boots.

Lexus GX 2004-09 :: RPMs Started Surging While Idle And High Pitch Humming Noise When Accelerating
My girlfriend has a 2008 with around 120k miles on it. It's been pretty flawless but yesterday the RPMs started surging while idle and made kind of a high pitch humming noise when accelerating.
Today on her way to work she said the radio was going in and out, the battery light lit up and then the rest of the dash lights came on, and the speedometer stopped working.
What could be the problem? Could it just be the battery?
Lexus RX 2010-15 :: 2012 RX350 - Road Noise Transmitted Back Into Cabin When Driving On Rough Road Surface
My 2012 RX350 now for over a year and like it a lot.........BUT.
There's seems to be a lot "road noise" that's transmitted back into the cabin, like driving over expansion joints on blacktop or rough road surface, is this normal?
I drove a 2000 RX300 for 100,000 miles and don't remember it being this noisy. Interior noise is great and quiet.
Lexus RX 2004-09 :: RX330 - High Pitched Hum Once The Car Reaches 30 Mph
My 2005 RX330 has run fine for all 45000 miles to date. One exception is that there is a high pitched hum that becomes noticeable once the car reaches 30 mph and continues to increase pitch until about 45mph. The hum seems to disappear when going faster than 45. If you cruise on a quiet street at 30mph the hum will stay steady if you maintain speed. The hum will increase if you accelerate.
But... if you take your foot off the gas pedal the hum instantly stops. Put your foot back on the pedal and it instantly starts. You can almost "play a song" by taking your foot off and on the pedal. Lexus service clearly heard the sound during a test drive, but could not figure it out.
Lexus RX 2010-15 :: High Pitched Squealing When Driving
What would cause my Lexi to squeal, in a high pitch fashion, while she is running. The rapidness does not change with acceleration/ deceleration. The brake pads are also squeaking- but the new squeal is with no brakes being applied. I had a mechanic suggest a total transmission rebuild- idk if I trust that.
View 2 RepliesPhaeton :: High Pitched Noise Through XM Via X3
I think my setup may be unique in that I have an XM commander, and Christian at Enfig made a special cable so that I have power connectors to the CD changer and my XM commander unit. Christian did a great job with this.
My dilemma is that there is a high pitched noise coming through the XM when the engine is running. It is not loud, and is not as audible at lower volume, but with my hearing problems, it is louder to me than to others.
The noise is not there when the car is not started. I guess there is no filter running the power to the changer (I am guessing), and now my XM commander box. I would not even know what to do regarding a filter or where it should go. The CD still plays clear with no noise. I have not connected an IPOD yet to the X3, but since the power to the CD and the XM commander is coming from the car battery, I figured that was the culprit.
Also, if I did not need the additional audio inputs, the XM roady I had in my center console via FM transmitter had more volume and more bass than my XM commander via X3. The XM roady did not sound good at all via the X3, and the XM commander was clearly better via X3 interface.
Lexus LS 2007+ :: High Pitched Whine With New Rotors On 2008 LWB
Just had 4 new rotors put on my '08 LWB after 70k miles. A few days later, I noticed a very high pitched whine that occurs occasionally at speed. When I brake, it stops, and it restarts a few minutes later. It almost sounds like what you detect during a hearing test, only louder. And before you ask, passengers can hear it too.
View 2 RepliesLexus ES 2013+ :: ES300h - High Pitched Whining Sound When Going At 40 - 50 Mph
So I'm driving home late at night, few cars on the highway, I turn off the radio and I hear a faint, very high pitched whine coming from the engine bay when going 40-50 mph. It sounds like an electric motor spinning at high speed and frankly it's a bit irritating. The sound is there whether the engine is running and charging the battery, the car is using the traction battery or it's coasting and regenerating power. The sound stops for a moment if I gently accelerate and then lift off, but it comes back on coasting.
It's different from the louder, low pitched subway-train sound that comes from regen braking at low speed. Could this be the dreaded CVT whine reviewers complain about? Or is it the normal sound of the MG1 unit? This car is really quiet so weird noises pop up more.
