Accent MC (2006-11) :: 2009 - Speedometer No Longer Works

My speedometer no longer works. A mechanic had the dash out but said I would need a new instrument cluster. However, as I told him, it started failing whenever it rained. Once the car dried out, the speedometer would work again. For awhile anyway but now it's not working at all. I'm thinking there's a sending unit maybe on the transmission that's faulty?

Yukon :: 2002 XL Denali 1500 - Spare Tire Carrier Replacement

I have an '02 XL Denali 1500. The spare tire carrier was broken (cable had snapped) prior to me buying it. As best I can find, the part number for it is: 15026912. I'm curious if any of the newer designs (such as part# 25974845) would fit. 2 reasons I'm asking,

1) the newer ones supposedly keep the tire from falling on the road if the cable were to break, and
2) they're cheaper than the original part number.

Living where road salt snacks on vehicles for 6 or 7 months out of the year has yielded no luck in finding a functional one by checking with the local salvage yards.

Right now the spare sits in the back, which is fine most of the time, but it takes up a good amount of space when packing for trips.

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2007 - Smart Key No Longer Works With Car / Unregistered

I had my car serviced a few weeks ago and realized that one of my Smart Keys (the one I was using when I drove to the dealership) no longer works with the car. It won't unlock the doors or start the car (neither wirelessly nor when plugged in to the dash). The other fob works fine. Are there any scenarios where a Smart Key fob gets rejected from the system?

Prius (Gen 2) :: DC Power (passenger Foot Well) No Longer Works

The DC Power/cigarette lighter no longer works. When I plug in a phone charger it lights up for a split second then goes out. This leads me to believe it is not a fuse because I don't think it would get any power at all...but I'm not sure and I don't even know where to look for the fuse to check it.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Wireless Key Got Soaked In Water / No Longer Works

It happened almost a week ago and had plenty of time to dry out. I heard that the keys will usually come back to life but unfortunately mine did not. Tried changing the battery too. No luck. The key still works in the door. It's an annoyance not being able to open the trunk or lock/open all doors remotely.

Are there any alternative ways to do this cheaper that I'm overlooking? There are wireless keys on ebay that can be bought. But is there a way to get them programmed other than going to the VW dealer and getting fleeced?

Ford - Explorer :: 2002 - Liftgate Handle No Longer Works

I have a 2002 Ford explorer sport. The liftgate handle no longer works. I took the rear panel off thinking it was one of the rods' clips were broken off. As it turns out it is the little pivoting bolt that attaches to the handle. It wasn't broken, but just disconnected from the handle. I reconnected it and it worked for about 6 or 7 opens and then it popped out of the handle again. I reconnected it and this time it only stayed in for 2 opens. What do I do here? Is there a way to buy that little yellow clip that connects the pivot bolt to the handle? Do I have to get this from a dealer or can I get it from an autoparts store? Or, can I just fix it somehow and not have to buy anything? Also, what is it called so I can describe it without a 30 minute story and sounding like a layman?

Is there something I should check?

Accent LC (2000-05) :: 2002 - AC Stuck On / Press Button No Longer Works

I have a 2002 Hyundai Accent. The press button inside the car no longer works so the A/C has been stuck ON for some time now. I don't live in a hot area so going without A/C wouldn't bother me too much. Is there an easy (read cheap) way to simply turn off the A/C from under the hood? My brother says he wants to remove the A/C belt but his knowledge of cars is often dicey. Might fix the problem, might blow up the car.

Camry :: 2006 - Reprogram Key Fob After Battery Replacement

I've got a strange problem with the keyfobs on my 2006 Camry. I tried replacing the batteries in both keyfobs and reprogramming them, but they still will not unlock the door. I suspect there is an issue with some computer part in the car that is preventing it from working. This was my sequence of events:

1. The key fob stopped working, so I replaced the battery. No luck.

2. Found the spare fob, didn't work either so I replaced that battery too. Still didn't work.

3. Reprogrammed both remotes using the steps (pasted below for readability). The programming was successful because the door locks cycled after adding each remote to the ecu on step 13.

However, after exiting the vehicle the locks still weren't working.

The steps I followed to reprogram the key fob:

1. Begin with the key out of the ignition.

2. OPEN and UNLOCK the DRIVER'S side door. CLOSE all other doors including the trunk.

3. Within 5 seconds INSERT the key into the ignition and PULL it out TWICE.

4. CLOSE then OPEN the DRIVER's side door TWICE.

5. Insert key INTO the ignition then REMOVE it.

6. CLOSE then OPEN the DRIVER's side door TWICE.

7. Insert the key INTO the ignition and LEAVE it in ignition.

8. CLOSE the DRIVER's side door.

9. Switch the ignition to ON then OFF.

10. REMOVE the key from ignition.

11. The door locks will now cycle to confirm the vehicle has successfully entered programming mode.

12. PUSH and HOLD the LOCK and UNLOCK button for 1.5 seconds on the first remote being programmed. As soon as you let go PUSH the LOCK button and HOLD it for 2 seconds.

13. The door locks will cycle to confirm successful programming of the remote. If you have any additional remotes to program repeat step 12 if you have no additional remotes proceed to step 14.

14. OPEN the DRIVER'S side door. Programming is now complete. [URL].................

Lexus GS 2006-11 :: AC Works Intermittently / Started To Blow Just Hot Air

A couple weeks ago my AC started to blow just hot air. I went to Autozone, picked up a can of AC Pro, emptied the can without overcharging the line, it ran great for 3 days, then it shut off. I thought all the freon leaked out but the next day the AC system came back on. Now it sometimes comes on and off.

I took it to my mechanic. When I first told him the issue, he came back telling me that the AC system was fine. I drove home and as I was about a few miles from my house the AC stopped working. The mechanic said they did see it leaking but to come back a few days once the dye marks the problematic area.

Should I have not used AC Pro? I did not get any error codes when I ran the AC diagnostic. Turning on/off the AC manually does not seem to work. Changing from recirculation to outside air does change much. Revving the engine does not produce cooler air.

I'm not an expert, could there be bubbles in the line causing this behavior? I'm taking my car back in tomorrow morning. I'm hoping the AC stays off so my mechanic can troubleshoot this issue. Sounds like maybe the AC is having a hard time staying on? Bad sensor?
