Ford - Freestyle :: 2006 - Oil Consumption Is Ridiculously High?

My stepmother has a 2006 Ford Freestyle AWD with a 3.0L Volvo engine. It seems to be consuming a great deal of oil. (Definitely not leaking it.) But not on a regular basis.... Within a couple weeks of changing the oil this time, it has consumed nearly 2 quarts! Other times it hardly uses any. This has been going on for a couple years now. She has taken it to the dealership numerous times and they cannot seem to find the issue. It doesn't have a "burnt" smell when I pull the dipstick either. The mileage is low as she hardly drives the car. (Under 80,000 miles) I've looked online and can't seem to find this problem elsewhere.

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2006 - MFD Screen Has Been Skipping Bars In Consumption Category

I bought a 2006 Certified used Prius a month ago and it was rear ended 2 weeks ago (uninsured motorist couldn't be more pissed) Well since the wreck the MFD screen has been skipping bars in the consumption category. It will just leave a whole space blank. Everything else it working fine. We took it to Toyota to figure out what was going on and they are saying that everything mechanical and electrical with the car is fine. They said the only thing they can think is that the MFD screen is having issues after the wreck.

Nissan - Altima :: 2006 - Making Metallic Sound While Driving - Higher Oil Consumption?

I own a 2006 Nissan Altima with about 90500 miles on it. Recently i took it in for service and to fix a problem where the car was making this metallic sound while driving. The mechanic discovered that the sound was caused by a low engine oil level causing the timing belt tension to lose pressure and make the sound.

The mechanic also found a Nissan Service Recall/Campaign (NTB06-082) related to Engine Oil Consumption where the following occurs: "extremely low engine oil level resulting from higher than normal engine oil consumption due to a manufacturing problem in some engines". NTB06-082 states that the first thing the dealer should do if the recall applies is reprogrammed the ECU followed by doing an engine oil check.

What steps I should follow to get the Nissan Dealership to take a look at this particular issue? I imagine that it's going to be hard convincing them that the NTB06-082 may apply to my vehicle.

Passat (B5) :: Too Much Oil Consumption Observed

Have a 2001 Passat V6 Manual 105000 Miles, Always used synthetic oil and changed every 5000 miles. After oil change, maybe around 3000-3500 miles oil level goes down to close to minimum. Roughly i'm burning little over a quart every 5000 Miles. Is this normal?? BTW there are no leaks/spots, no burning smell, no smoke coming out.

Passat (B5) :: 2004 - Too Much Oil Consumption

Alright so every 3-4 weeks I have to put about a quart of oil in the car. Its sometimes less, sometimes more. I HAD an oil leak from the passenger side valve tensioner gasket cover. I had the pcv system replaced and all new gaskets. No more oil leak. BUT, I still seem to be losing oil. I can't afford a quart or more every 3-4 weeks. I've looked all over the engine and underneath and haven't found any oil. If this persists, I might trade in and get a 24v VR6 GLI. I've had more small things go wrong with this car and its starting to piss me off. At least with a 24v I can get more power mods....

Camry :: 2007 - Excessive Oil Consumption

What is considered to be excessive oil consumption in regards to the TSB issued by Toyota for the 2.4L engine. Mine is using 2+ quarts per 5000 mile interval. It isn't leaking, so it has to be burning it somehow. It doesn't smoke visibly, but that is a lot of oil IMO (my Harley doesn't use nearly as much).

Tiguan :: Possible To Have MFD To Show Fuel Consumption?

We have two counters on MFD (1-trip data and 2-accumulated data), none of them show the gas consumption.

Every time I stop at gas station I have to divide distance by average gas consumption to know, beforehand, how many liters to top up the tank.

Question is: Is it possible to use VCDS to make the MFD show that information once it is obviously known by the board computer?

Passat (B5) :: Fuel Consumption Is Not Satisfactory

I just don't get what causes the Passat 1.8T to have worse fuel economy than expected considering its 0.27 drag coefficient, 3200lbs curb weight, and 4 cylinder 1.8t engine compared to a 3,500lbs 3.4 liter V6 0.31 cod Impala. I mean a new Ford Escape NON Hybrid SUV will get the fuel economy on the highway as a 1.8T Passat and that's sad considering that the Escape has the drag coefficient of a brick and the B5.5 Passats are among the 10 most aerodynamic cars ever sold in North America.

Elantra XD (2001-06) :: 2005, Too Much Oil Consumption

My 2005 Elantra has 240,000 miles on it and uses about a quart of oil per 1000 miles. It does not smoke, nor are there any oil leaks. I've owned this car since new and I've done all the maintenance work (oil changes, timing belts, CV boots, etc).

The oil consumption started at about 120,000 miles and has gotten progressively worse. Outside of the oil consumption, this car is in great shape. It starts and runs very well. My kids drive it about 1000 miles per week between work, college, and other events.

If it didn't burn so much oil, I'd go ahead and replace the clutch, struts, and shocks but can't validate the time and expense given the oil issue.

Ford :: Oil Consumption Without Smoking Or Leaking

I have a rebuilt Ford 289 engine (do not know how long ago it was rebuilt) that takes a quart of oil in about 250 to 300 miles. It does not smoke or leak, runs fine and has good compression. A friend has a 350 Chevy engine with the same issue. What can the reason for this oil consumption without smoking or leaking?
