Kia - Sorento :: 2006 - RPMs Go Up To 4000 And Stay For A While
2006 Kia Sorento Auto Transmission, Appx. 106k miles. My wife's car so I don't drive this very often. However, on the last trip, I noticed that it would stay in a particular gear longer than (I think) it should. The RPM's will go up to maybe 4000 or so and stay there for a while even if I let my foot off the gas before finally kicking into overdrive or the next gear and back to a comfortable cruise. I notice this mostly happened when I was going highway speeds and either passing someone or going up a hill. I can't think of the last time the transmission fluid was changed, so I'm thinking that may not be a bad place to start...

I have a 2006 Sorento, Idle at start, when cold is 2000 to 2200 rpms. When engine warms idle comes down to normal, 1000.
Replaced several vacuum lines, none showed any leaking but replaced to be sure.
Replaced the PCV valve, the old valve was not closing as it should and the replacement seemed to work some.
Replaced the Idle Air Control Valve and checked the old one for movement, moved an 1/8 of and inch from when cold to when hot. The new IAC did improve the problem some.
Tested throttle position sensor voltage, was good through range of motion (including being tapped on to simulate the running of the engine).
Sprayed carburetor cleaner around the engine when cold to look for a possible manifold leak, nothing noted.
Noticed one area that brings down the high idle when sprayed with carburetor cleaner is in the front top center, around a small plastic cylinder which is part of the intake system and has a vacuum manifold which changes the position of the cylinder with engine operation. I have two pictures of the area attached, the white cylinder is at end of paint stick, the vacuum manifold is to the right of the paint stick and yes there are vacuum lines not hooked up in the pictures. Hoping this is not a manifold leak.
Kia - Sorento :: 2011 - Won't Shift Into Park
I have a 2011 Sorento LX AWD 4 cylinder autotomatic with just under 14,000 miles. Twice in the last couple weeks I have been unable to shift into park. The hill descent assist and traction control lights come on and I can't move the shifter past neutral. If I restart the car in neutral the lights go off and I can put it in park.

Kia - Sorento :: 2011 LX - Cruise Control Will Not Set Properly All Of The Time
I have a 2011 KIA Sorento LX (auto, 4-I). I'm very happy with my Sorento except for one problem. The cruise control will not set properly all of the time. I turn the cruise control on, get to the speed I want and press the Set button down but some times nothing happens. When this happens, I have to press the Cancel button and then press the Set button down and the cruise control will then set. Also, pressing the SET (-) button down to reduce speed once the cruise control is set will some times cut the cruise control off. The cruise control light does not go off but you have to reset the speed. My dealer says they cannot duplicate my problem and cannot fix it until it completely breaks.

My vehicle will stutter as I am driving down the road but if/when I stop and drive again it goes away. I have had it to the dealer but they cannot duplicate the problem so they sent the vehicle home without an answer. It almost feels like the tires are out of balance when it stutters. I have recently had the following done to my vehicle; brakes and rotors on front and back, oil change, air filter changed, tires rotated and balanced, replaced spark plugs. The problem does not occur every day or any particular time of the day or evening. I will be driving to Myrtle Beach soon and I am completely frustrated that they are unable to find a problem. They cannot find any codes and the check engine light does not come on when the problem occurs. The vehicle does not seem to lose any power.

I have a 2003 four wheel drive Kia Sorento. When not in four wheel drive it is rear wheel drive. On two occasions while driving on snow packed roads, I have had the rear loose traction and spin out luckily going into a soft snow bank. I have good tires, was driving about 15 miles per hour on a flat straight road and not applying the brakes. I can't figure out what is happening. So I started to put it in four wheel drive whenever there is snow pack on the roads. Typically I thought four wheel drive was only for "tough" conditions, but I haven't had a spin since using four wheel drive.

I have recently noticed a noise... to describe it would be difficult, but I'll give it a shot. There is a pulsing sound, maybe coming from my front left wheel area? It happens when I turn left driving, even on the smallest curve. From what I can tell, the pulsing sound does NOT change speed when I speed up or slow down. My initial thoughts were a bad wheel bearing, but I'm not so sure. Could it be power steering?
My Kia does have 130000 miles on it, and I just purchased it used a year ago, so I'm not exactly sure what maintenance or repair has been done on it.

So, for the past year or so, my R backfires on cold starts. I have had the MAF, Fuel pump, door sensor, and coil packs replaced. Still no progress. Now that it is starting to cool down here in CO, this is happening much more often.

I have a 92 gmc with a standard transmission that is backfiring and sputtering after it has been running for a while. I have noticed that on longer trips, 30+ miles, the truck backfires when i go to accelerate on the highway. Also, after it has been running a while, I will stop at a light, When I go to accelerate, It backfires and tries to stall but wont. I have to turn the key off and wait for the truck to shut off.
Once it shuts off, I will restart it and then it runs normal till the next light.. I have replaced the plugs recently, thinking that it was a misfire problem. All the plugs looked normal. None were dirtier than the rest. It only does this after it has been running for a long distance. If it is cold, it does not have a problem. I have also tried seafoam in the tank and direct into the carb. I am at a loss? the temp gauge never gets hot?

I have a 2006 Saab 97x. While the car is not very common, the GM 5.3L V8 in it, is. It runs perfectly fine under normal driving conditions but for the past several months it has been running like a Slaab instead of a Saab. It has been backfiring, sputtering and has had loss of power issues but only during hard acceleration.When my check engine light came on at 50k, the dealership changed all 8 iridium plugs and when it happened again at 75k, only one was replaced. Aren't these supposed to be 100k plugs? One of the exhaust manifolds has been replaced due to a leak and the other one has a leak now. Fortunately, all of the previous repairs have been covered by my warranty. Unfortunately, my warranty has run out and the other manifold is no longer covered and seemingly neither is this problem. Most recently, my new mechanic used some fuel injector cleaner something or other to no avail. I tow a 5000# camper and can't have these issues when summer comes. Is it the plugs, manifold, engine, something else?

I have had this truck in 3 different shops and none of them could figure it out. The codes say misfire in cyl 2 and 5 bank 1 too lean and primary and secondary circuits malfunctioning for ignition coil. I've replaced the ign coil cap, plugs,plug wires, rotor, pcv, fuel pump, pick up coil, cat, o2 sensors and all sensors under the hood. Switched out all vacuum lines, cleaned the IAC and checked the pulse ring. The truck loses all power and either dies or backfires and regains power randomly. If I drive at night, it will stall and keep cranking when trying to restart. Usually have to let it sit for ten minutes for it to turn back over. Last night it backfired and stalled every 50 ft for over a mile. During the day, it revs up and down at idle by about 100 rpms.
