Golf/GTI VI :: 2012 - Air Bubble In The Sidewall Of Both Rear Tires
So I just got my 30k oil change done on my 2012 GTI and the dealer found an air bubble in the sidewall of both rear tires (Pirelli P Zero Nero). Luckily I bought a third party wheel and tire protection plan from the dealer where I purchased the car so the tires were covered. Tires were replaced and rotated to the front. Drove home the next day (all interstate travel), and woke up the next morning to find another bubble in the sidewall of the right rear (rotated from the front). 4th tire with a bubble since last August. I know this is an issue with low profile...
View 24 RepliesFord Excursion :: 2002 F250 - Rear Tire Goes Out Sidewall Blow
So rolling down I29 and its cold and the wind is howling. Rear tire goes out sidewall blow. Thinking load rating of C is not enough for the EX?
Anyways not a big deal cause I'm smart! I checked my spare and all the stuff I need to change it cause i'm prepared. Go to put the tire iron on that I removed from under the hood perfect fit too. Guess what, it is way to small for the lugs. Luckily I had earned some karma points the day before working for a guy with a 02 F250 7.3 who's alternator died. A guy in a suburban stopped and his wrench was close enough to crack the nuts.
So after searching and not finding much my two questions are. Any replacement for the factory tire iron that bolts under the hood? Is there another vehicle other then an Ex I can take it from? I like the idea of it being there bolted down under the hood.
What load rating is everyone running and or recommends. I noticed my spare was an F lol which is far from C. My EX is 7.3 and She was loaded heavy with black friday goods.
Golf V R32 :: Sidewall Bulge On Passenger And Driver Side Tire?
As i washed my car today, I noticed a bulge on the drivers front tire. While I have hit some potholes this year (chicago), they were never at high speed, and the rim never bent. Then I did a quick inspection of all 4 tires just in case. Turns out there is a bulge in the passenger side tire as well.
Now, I wash my car every week(ish) and do a general inspection of the tires while cleaning the rims. 1.5 weeks ago, the bulges were not there. I was out of town for a week, so the car has seen 3-4 days of driving since then. I cant remember hitting more than one pothole, let alone a pothole that would swallow both tires.
My question is, do I have any sort of leverage to get a warranty replacement? The car FINALLY hit 1000 miles, so I have yet to drive it hard in any way.
Subaru - Outback :: Small Cracks In The Sidewall Of Tires?
I drive a 2003 Subaru outback wagon. The roads are terrible during the six months of winter we have. The tires on my car are Michelin hydroedge from 2007 with a treadwear warranty of 90,000 miles, since the tires were purchased the car has gone almost 110,000 miles. In June the tread was measured at 6/32 for three of the tires and 4/32 for the fourth tire. I've started noticing some small cracks in the sidewall. This car has a brutal winter ahead of it and a long drive from the Upper peninsula to Connecticut in May, if I need new tires I would rather find out sooner than later. My question is do I need new tires or not?

I was cleaning the car last week and I noticed one of the radio buttons has a small bubble in the skin of it... How to fix this - I understand that this happens from time to time - or do I have to wait for it to look like junk and replace it with the rns ...
View 2 RepliesIS F (2008-2014) :: Inner Edge Of Tire Sidewall Worn?
I am lowered on KW V3's, running Figs lower control arm bushings with toe set to 0 for alignment just to be safe. Before upgrading to the Figs CAB's, I had the usual inner tire wear on both fronts. I then set the alignment to the safer toe=0 and it got better but still not perfect, so we installed the Figs bushings which made things great.
In the last 20k miles, something is off. My LF tire (Michelin Pilot Super Sport) easily lasted the 20K miles with very even wear. But I've gone through 2 RF tires, with the same outcome. After about 8-10K miles, the inner edge of the sidewall is so worn that the tire has physically separated. If you see the pic below, there is significant tire failure. Same issue, 2 tires on the same side.
Now, if this was happening on both sides, I would assume it's the normal ISF inner tire wear issue. But since we upgraded the CAB's, still have toe set to 0 and the LF is wearing perfectly, something else must be off. A check of all the main suspension points shows all bushings to be ok. The car has never been in a wreck and you can see the alignment specs below appear ok. Tire appears choppy, like a toe issue but the Figs bushing appears fine.
Dodge - Ram :: 1997 - White Ring Around Tire Sidewall
Well, I bought a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 pickkup. It has 121,000 miles. The guy wanted $2800, but I talked him down to $2300. I think that will work out well. One question, though. One of the tires has a white ring going around the sidewall. I have heard of whitewall tires, but this is not an attractive white wall. The edges of the white are all jagged and peeling. What causes this? Was this tire originally black and the black peeled away exposing a psuedo-whitewall? Any time I've scraped a tire, there was just more black underneath. I don't really know what I'm looking at. Is this tire safe? You can see a pic here: [URL] ....
View 9 RepliesPrius (Gen 2) :: Hit Pothole - Rim Has A Big Dent And Tire Is All Ripped Up
This evening in the dark I hit a pothole. I did not see it. It is a busy 3 lane road. Changed my tire. The rim has a big dent in it and the tire is all ripped up.
How much a new tire and rim for a 2008 Prius is going to cost? We looked underneath the car and the other parts seem ok.
Lexus IS 2014+ :: Tire With Zero Air Pressure After Hitting Pothole On Highway
It's my first time experiencing a flat tire after hitting a pothole. I was on the Long Island Expressway in Queens, NY on Saturday evening after watching The Amazing Spiderman 2. It was about 12:15 AM, and there were still a lot of cars on the road. (and they were fast!!!) I wasn't aware and hit a pothole, and I immediately heard a loud "BANG" noise from the left wheel. I switched on the tire pressure indicator on the dashboard right afterward, and the air pressure started decreasing. Luckily, I was able to find an exit early and pulled over on local road to check the car. I swapped out the flat tire with the spare and went home safely with my girlfriend.
* I was surprised that the Bridgestone Turanza was able to hold up with 0 air pressure, without letting the rim rolling and touching on the ground.
* Rim is fine - no bent, no scratch
* Took the wheel to a tire shop and discovered that there must be some sharp edges in the pothole, which teared the side of the tire for about 2 inches (right underneath the tip of the rim). Total replacement with installation - $290. Shop ordered a brand new tire (same model) and I will return on Monday to get the tire fixed.
1) How do I check whether the suspension is okay?
2) The tire pressure indicator on the gauge shows nothing now - all 4 wheels. I'm not sure what's going on. I still have the spare wheel on, so I'm not sure whether this is causing the issue.
3) Where is the tire pressure sensor located? When I return to the tire shop on Monday, will the tire guy know how to swap out the bad tire with the new one without messing up with the tire pressure sensor in there?
Toyota - Sienna :: After Hitting Pothole ABS And Tire Pressure Light Came On
I hit a pothole on I 55 going about 70 mph and the ABS/tire pressure lights went on. My gut feeling is that this is not serious, as the car is 14 years old (131,000 miles) and runs well. Figure it's just a sensor or connection issue or something like that. Is there a way that I can test to see if my ABS has stopped working without going to a mechanic? The tire pressure light comes on now and then at high speeds and usually means nothing.
View 5 RepliesGolf/GTI VII :: Tire Pressure Loss On Rear Left Tire?
I'm having an obvious tire pressure loss on my rear left tire. Fill it up and in a few days I get the warning. I don't see any holes or anything. My question is this. Whats the cheapest route to go about this? I bought the car in June, so wondering if warranty would even cover tires? Is it worth a try? Not sure if I should take to the dealer to check it out, or just a town fair tire place.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Bubble On Grille / Noise And Rear Defrost Down
My Platinum has 23000 miles now and is a little over a year old. Lots of small problems so far but Ford too care of everything on warranty.
Now I discovered 2 small bubbles on the grille and so not like that. Also the rear defrost does not turn on. Neither by pushing the button on the console or the touch screen one. It does not activate - no indicator turns on nor does it defrost.
For once a week at least I got a grinding noise/vibration from the front power train. Ford can't find any issues and it never does it when they test drive.
4Runner/GX470 :: 1997 - Clunk In Rear Over Bumps Or On Hitting Pothole
I've had this problem for years but is now getting worse. It used to only happen when it was really cold out, subzero, but is now happening as we now approach 50 degrees out. If I hit a pothole or pop over a small curb, I get a clunk in the rear. I replaced the shocks about 3 months ago which seemed to work briefly but the problem is back and is worse than ever.
I have the original springs and it looks like the recall was done by the previous owner (rubber bumber stops installed).
230k miles. Do I need new springs?
Golf/GTI VI :: After Hitting A Big Pothole Car Started To Shake Noticeably Above 55 Mph
I have the stock 16-inch Bioline wheels on my '10 JSW TDI. After hitting a big pothole on the Pennsylvania turnpike (stupid of me, I know), the car started to shake noticeably above 55 m.p.h. Tire pressure was normal. When I replaced the wheel (right front) with the spare, the shaking went away.
Did I damage the wheel? Normally, I would attribute shaking to the alignment being off, but---again---the car doesn't shake when the spare is on. I would have thought it would take more to damage a 16-inch alloy wheel, but what do I know?
I'm trying to decide whether I should pay to have the alignment checked or start scouring the classifieds for a replacement wheel already.
Golf IV R32 :: Electrical Malfunctions - When Hit A Bump Or Pothole Radio Would Shut Off And Then Turn Back On
I have been having some electrical problems lately that seem to be getting worse. For the past few months sometimes when i hit a bump or pothole my radio would shut off and then turn back on. Well I never got around to looking at it cause i would forget about it until it did it again. so just a couple of days ago im coming into my driveway, hit the bump, and my car shuts off. Not like a stall, just no electricity. I was thinking i need a new battery because my lights flicker and dim when i hit my window button, or when I am just sitting at a light, sometimes my dash lights will flicker. But now I am thinking maybe I have a bad ground or something.
View 6 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: Noise From Rear Diff Like Something Rubbing Or Tire Skidding
Fixed my AWD. Needed a new Haldex pump. Did a fluid change and new Haldex filter. All using factory stuff.
AWD works great now. The problem though is when im making tight slow speed turns. I.E. backing out of a parking stall. I get a noise from the rear diff like something rubbing, or a tire skidding.
Is this normal? I bought my car from the dealership without my AWD working and just got it fixed, so I really didn't know what an AWD R32 was like.
Golf/GTI VI :: Rear Suspension Loose And Jammed Itself In Front Of The Tire
I am in my new gti, owned for 6 days, waiting for a tow truck. I was driving down the freeway when it felt like I blew a tire. I pull over to the side of the road and none of the tires are flat. I look under the car and a piece of the rear suspension has come loose and jamed itself in front of the tire. Its a long peice of metal with a hook on the end.
View 24 RepliesGolf - Volkswagen :: Rear Tire Wear Causing Pulling To The Right?
I just had the tie rods replaced and a front end alignment on my VW Golf. The tires that were on the front were moved to the back because of some wear on the inside edge. The tires currently on the front look brand new, but the car pulls to the right more than it did before I had any of the work done. The place where I got the work done told me I would need to replace the two tires with wear but they are still in mostly good condition. They are telling me now the pulling is because the tires on the rear have wear. Can wear on rear tires really cause my car to pull so significantly to the right? The tires are only two years old. I do not want to replace them yet. The car front wheel drive.
