Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2002 E350 Start To Flatten Out And Smoke Out Of Exhaust During Acceleration

I had a post a couple of months ago about this E350 van I purchased with the 7.3. It would leave me stranded every few weeks and I replaced the injector oil pressure sensor and the camshaft position sensor. This truck has a intermittent running problem that cannot be pinned down to hot or cold.

It runs and idles well but sometimes during acceleration it will start to flatten out and smoke out the exhaust. Giving more accelerator pedal powers through the flat spot and the truck runs smooth. It does not do it every time. It does it hot or cold, wet or dry, city or highway, If this was a gas engine I would be replacing the fuel pump or checking a fuel starvation issue but the white smoke tells me that it has unburned fuel.

A cylinder contribution test passes fine. I monitored engine data with a Snap On Verus pro and compared oil pressures with another 03 7.3 I have and they are too close to the same. It starts fine, no issues there. It may take off great one time and buck and smoke the next. I swapped out the throttle position sensor with the other 7.3 and no change. I swapped out the injector control module and no change.

I've thought about injector Orings but I would think the problem would be consistent. I've changed engine oil, checked fuel pressure, changed fuel filter, and drained the fuel system to be sure no water is in the separator. This engine was rebuilt about 30k miles ago. If you floor the accelerator in park it will rev up, flatten out, smoke and buck for about 2-3 seconds, and then take off like normal. I pulled a trailer with it a couple of days ago and wasn't impressed at all. I have a 6.5 GM that seems to have more power than this.

I thought maybe a sticking injector and I added a half gallon of two cycle oil to the fuel to see if that might work. It hasn't. It just seems like it is flooding at a certain rpm and clears itself after a couple of seconds. There are no codes being thrown in the pcm. I am at a loss.

Golf V R32 :: Transmission And Acceleration Lag

New to my R...had it for a month and brought it used. I have noticed some transmission and acceleration lag. Especially going from reverse to drive it lags before it jumps in gear and goes. Same as when coming to a complete stop and trying to accelerate at moderate pace...its spools then kicks in gear and goes. The Local VW dealership said this is normal for the R tranny.

Golf/GTI VI :: Pulling To The Right Under Acceleration

I recently changed out my clutch. I dropped the subframe to get the transmission to clear. Everything went back together without too many issues but during the road test it pulled to the right under acceleration and when I let off the gas it pulls back to the left. I had it aligned, no luck. I took it to a local VW dealer here and they could not find the problem. I got the name of a shop that works on imports and after a test drive they said when we put the subframe back on we missed getting the subframe on a couple of pins. His suggestion was to loosen the subframe bolts and wiggle it around until it hit those pins. We did that but did not seen any pins and after tightening the bolts up again it still pulls.

Golf/GTI VI :: Shaking Upon Acceleration At 60 - 80 Mph

As the title states, my car begins to shake on the passenger side when under acceleration between 60-say 80 mph...

I first thought maybe my wheel was warped because I think I hear what sounds like a cheap set of tires but only from the passenger side not the drivers side... but I'm prob over thinking and fooling myself into a new set of wheels.

Golf VI R :: Misfire When Acceleration At WOT?

Ever since I've gone APR Stage 2+ (most recent revision) I think I've been experiencing a misfire when acceleration at wot- I've had the tune for quite a while now. Typically I get pop out of the exhaust in 4th gear around 5,300rpm but today I experienced it in 3rd gear same rpm but it popped 3 times in a row.

Performance mods include: HPA TBE w/ 100 cell high flow cat, APR Tune, APR HPFP, Evoms Intake, R8 coil packs and upgraded spark plugs.

What could be causing this? I've read all of the past articles and it seemed the upgraded coil packs and spark plugs would do the trick but it hasn't.

Golf V R32 :: CEL Comes On - At Acceleration Cut Off Completely

Our R32 has 1680 miles on it, yesterday my wife & son drove it about 35 miles to drop off my Focus ST at the dealer......as they were doing a U-Turn it bogged almost to a stall. then recovered At the light when my son went to accelerate it cut almost completely off then surged and went forward....

When they restarted it 20 minutes later to leave the dealership...it threw a CEL. Drove fine all the way to the shop, dealer, then home.

Diagnosis at Euro Technik was bad MAF, wife took it right to the dealer, (went back to stock tune 1st), Dealer confirmed a diagnosis and ordered a part. My dealer had no issue with the V-Flow being on the car and actually, my Service Advisor has an APR tune on his 2008 GTI....no worries. They interestingly enough will not work on REVO tuned cars until the tune is gone....didn't elaborate to me, but the Service Mgr is British & very cool about mods. No R32 MAF in stock...I guess that is a good thing? Not for us, but hey.

I will go back to the 93 tune as soon as they put the new MAF in. Point is the hiccup seems to be a combination of things and the Valve could only be 1 issue...just info....food for thought as it were. I gave her my GLI and I will drive the R until the part comes in as she hates any light on.......

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: On Acceleration Car Has No Power

So a while ago I had no power. The car seemed to idle fine but when I would accelerate, there was no power. Being I just took this into the dealer for the same issue, could I have a bad diverter from the dealer or a possible bigger issue.

Golf VI R :: Odd Sound On Acceleration / Deceleration

Alright so car is a 13 R, bolt ons, c2 stage 2+. Drove the car yesterday morning all was good. Did an oil change and fixed my cts DV (the top nozzle had popped out, i glued around it as cts had suggested to hold it in place). At first the car was making an odd "weeee ooooo" sound on accel/decel. I went home, rechecked all couplers, vacuum hoses etc. then went for another drive, there is absolutely no boost. Car drives likes its naturally aspirated, no attempt to even go into boost just nothing. Ran vag com, no codes.

Golf IV R32 :: Grinding Noise Under Acceleration

"Workshop?" Will there by cuties there? Will I have to participate in small group discussions? What exactly happens at these workshops?

I've had this happen to me at least twice now since I've had the starter replaced @ Stohlman VW in N.VA. I've had some good experience with them thus far considering I've drop quite a bit of money into their service: complete hvac rebuild, starter, replaced a couple of pistons, etc...

Before I dive head first into replacing the alternator, is there a slight chance that the 2 are related? I figure I could try & fix it myself b/4 my car turns into a money pit.

There's no real rhyme or reason when the warning light comes on, I do notice that I hear some sort of grinding noise under acceleration. If I'm in neutral & coast, the warning light cuts off. It's not throwing any codes that I know of. I've got around 77K on the car now.

Other things I've read I could do too. Check:

1) battery terminals

2) slip clutch pulley

3) belt & tensioner

Golf VI R :: Slight Stutter In The Acceleration

I have noticed a slight stutter in the acceleration when pushing it hard. Seems to be most noticeable 4th gear around 4500-5500 rpm. Is that because I dont have a HPFP? I also notice the fluttery whistle sound that was discussed at length in another thread...doesn't bother me one bit but it seems to coincide the stuttery acceleration. Also, I noticed it upon the very first drive after getting flashed - currently at 2500km.

Golf/GTI VII :: Acceleration Failure In Fifth Gear

Once while on my way to work and once while driving home from work today, my GTI failed to accelerate. During both instances, I was in fifth gear and I stabbed the throttle about halfway to make a pass and change lanes. After applying throttle, the car failed to accelerate for about one second. It was like an on/off switch. When it happened the second time, I heard air whoosh out of the waste gate. I should add that my car has the stage 1 APR tune.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Noise On Acceleration

Currently on my 1.8T I'm running a 3 inch catless downpipe into a stock res and muffler, it's great noise on acceleration but I've been told and found through research that if I want idle noise and a deeper tone I should take out the resonator, my question is what's it going to sound like on a catless downpipe with the stock muffler and no res also will there be enough back pressure to start okay and not loose any power, my last question is what's it going to be like on the highway when I'm at high Rpms for a long period is it annoying or does it sound nice ? What about cutting out the res with a 3 inch catless downpipe

Golf IV R32 :: Kicking From Rear Under Acceleration

So I've been getting this weird kicking from the rear end when I am accelerating medium-hard. It only happens for the first 3-5 minutes after I start up the car. I first noticed it months ago when entering a highway. At that point, during acceleration, it felt like the throttle was slipping. It would happen again and again in about 1-2 second intervals until I shifted out of gear.

During this "slip," the car stops accelerating briefly until it engages again, then it slips again... repeat. However, lately it has been much worse and has changed to a very prominent "kick" from the rear end. I can feel and hear a force from behind me, in addition to the acceleration stopping momentarily. It has started happening in low gears and lower speeds, too. It happened today just turning onto a road end speeding up to traffic in 1st or 2nd gear.

It definitely feels Haldex-related, like the Haldex clutch is slipping maybe? The thing when this happens I don't feel like I'm accelerating so hard that the front wheels slip and the Haldex kicks in, but maybe I'm underestimating the 4motion assistance.

I'm at about 77k miles, and I've read that every 40k you should get the Haldex serviced (oil & filter change). Could I just be due for that? Or might it be a much bigger issue?

Golf/GTI VII :: APR Stage 2 - Hard Acceleration

I have 2015 GTI PP which had the APR Stage 2 with downpipe done about two weeks ago. I pretty much babied it the first week and couldn't believe how quick the car felt with a tiny little bit of throttle.

However, when I floor the car, it accelerates slower than if the throttle is slowly pressed to the floor. If I floor it and then back slowly back off the throttle as I near the upper RPMs the car starts to accelerate like it should have in the first place. The car is a total rocket if I slowly press the pedal towards the floor but if I press the pedal to much towards the floor the car slows down its acceleration that is until I start to slowly lift the pedal.

I'm at 5000ft elevation and its been pretty hot in the 80-103 F degrees. The gas out here is only 91 octane and the car has the 91 octane tune. I have tried gas from multiple stations and even tried an octane booster with no noticible improvement. I went to go log the car with my VCDS and found out that this new car uses a UDS ECU and none of the APR codes on their site match up.

Looking for a compiled list of UDS codes that actually log something useful? Or have a list that corresponds to the APR list of codes?

Golf/GTI VI :: Vibration At High Speeds And During Acceleration

I just recently lowered my mk6 with h&r springs(1.2 front and rear) and installed wheels and tires from tire rack. I am noticing a lot of vibration at the wheel, pedals and seats while accelerating or moving at higher speeds. I had an alignment done after the springs were installed and all 4 tires/wheels have been road force balanced. One of the tires rated at 20lbs which apparently is acceptable but Tire rack sent me a new tire anyway, which I just had put on today.

Still the same vibration is there. Next step tire rack wants to do is switch out all 4 of my Michelin for a different tire. The guys at tires plus feel that there is no issue with the tires and I think I agree. Could the lowering springs be the problem?

Golf/GTI VI :: Cylinders Misfiring Lost Acceleration

So last night i was driving and i made a turn onto the highway and speed up to pass this slow ass car :thumb down: and as i did i lost acceleration and my car started to rumble like when you use a high gear when u make a turn while moving that slow acceleration. And as that happened my engine light turned on and my EPC so i drove it well barely made it home. i had a friend with his VAGCOM come to see whats wrong it said cylinder 1&3 are miss firing so he took his ignition coils out of his car swapped them in my car and we drove it around and it drove fine and no fault codes. so now my issue since i have GIAC, CAI and APR full exhaust if my warranty will cover to have them put new ignition coils since i did get an extended warranty. I'm just afraid they won't.

Golf V R32 :: Acceleration Seems Hesitant When Floor From A Standstill

I got a VW Certified R32 back in August and I'm loving every minute of it! I just have two little issues. When I floor it from a standstill, the acceleration seems hesitant almost as if something is holding back the power until I hit about 3500 RPM there's a slight break (as if it were shifting but its in 1st the whole time) and then there's a lot more power available.

Also, when ever I'm shifting there is a slight delay between when I press the paddle or push the shifter. I push the '+' paddle wait half a second or so, and then it starts the shift sequence. Only seems to happen when I try to shift between 2k and 4.5k RPM (4.5k+, the second I hit the paddle it starts shifting). Is this normal? Is this because of the AWD(never had an AWD car before)? Should I complain to the dealer?
