I've a 02 Jetta GLS - 2.0 engine..
About a week back, I have started to hear a ticking noise from the hood. It is exactly same as someone else posted video on youtube below:

I have a 1997 Ford Econoline conversion campervan that I don't use very often. I need to open the hood to jump start the battery. Last time I opened the hood I did not notice anything wrong with the hood or the hood release latch inside the cab. Now when I pulled the hood release latch inside the cab, nothing happens to the hood at all (the hood does not open at all).
Is there a way I can open the hood or do I need to tow it to my mechanic?
Golf IV R32 :: Smoke From Under The Hood With Car Off
I drove the car today up to the store and back. About halfway back I started smelling something. Like something burning, it wasn't a far drive and I didn't go through any puddles. I got it home and noticed some smoke coming from under the hood with the car off. So I popped the hood and looked around, it was coming from under the intake, after I took the engine cover off it looked to be coming from the back side of the engine.
More from the drivers side, I looked down the side of the block and didn't see anything. But it was coming up from the secondary air valve on the back side. Something below that was smoking. I couldn't pin point it, and I really can't tell you how it smelled as I have a cold.
I was under the hood for about 5 mins, and it started to dissipate. It was white smoke, but not like water dripping on the secondary radiator. Everything appeared normal while driving. There are no obvious oil or coolant leaks that could be dripping on the exhaust manifold.
Golf IV R32 :: Hood Won't Close All The Way?
Just got my MK4 R32, I'm trying to shut the hood and it just won't close all the way. The hood isn't getting as close to the VW sign as it's supposed to. Is there something i'm missing? What position does the latch have to be when I drop the hood to shut it?

Ok I'm new here but I'll keep it simple. Driving around nyc (crazy winter weather lately) car started making a clanking noise every so often from the hood. (note it was getting harder to steer i have awd) Pulled over, it looked fine, kept driving, all of a sudden few blocks later a LOUD metal clashing noise came from under the hood. Pulled over turned the car off. Now the car starts fine, but the car makes that noise every time i shift to Forward/Reverse. Neutral is fine. Tranny went out? The car wont move....

Issue #1: Odd noise coming from under the hood, as you can see/hear in the video linked above, it comes and goes when you mess with the wire/hose, whatever it is. What is it? How do you fix it?
Issue #2: Just started last night at football practice, went to start the van, it wouldn't start, just heard clicking. Got a jump start to get home after practice, let it run to charge. Start it this morning, same thing, just clicked a couple times. Jump started it again, drove it around. Later this morning, start it, just clicks, turn it over again and NOTHING (no noise at all), turn it over a 3rd time it started....a hard struggling start. Its done exactly that 4 times today.
Bad battery? It is 5 years old. My husband disconnected the positive from the battery and it didn't die/shut off, so assuming the alternator is still good?
Volvo :: Hissing Noise From Under The Hood When Go Faster
96 850 turbo auto. 150k .. My girlfriend just informed me there's something wrong with the car. I drove it, from idle to 1/2 throttle it drives fine cruises on up too a hunski pretty quick, but from half to full there's a hissing sound coming from somehere under the hood and while its hissing it feels like the turbo doesn't want you to go any faster. Also from a stop light if you give it full throttle it wont shift out of first unless you let off the gas.
Also when in park if you rev the engine to like 4-5k and let off, very very slowly does it drop back down to idle. The tracs off and abs lights are on! I'll hook my code reader up tonight to see if i can pull any codes.
Prius (2004-09) :: Humming Noise Under The Hood
I loved my 2009 Prius until this weekend. I just turned over 31,000 miles and now a loud humming noise has developed under the hood while driving. It has not been cold here and this doesn't start until I reach around 24 mph. It remains while the gas engine is running or I'm coasting with the engine off. The humming is there in D or in N and there no sound while turning. When I am under 24 mph the noise is gone. I have set up an appointment with my Toyota dealer for this week, but wanted to know ahead of time if any other Prius owners have had this issue.

For the first 10 or 15 minutes after starting the truck I hear a clicking noise under the hood about 1 or 2 clicks per second. It's kind of a mechanical sound, maybe like a pump working. Could this be the Webasto heater working?

I Did not have any Warnings Just Whistling Noise which was coming from under the hood.That was weary Loud Noise. I took my car to the dealer and they told it look like a bad Engine belt. After few days they told me my transmission is bad and needs to be Completely Replaced. We have a 2006 camry with he 4 cylinders at about 106,000 miles. All of a sudden, the car has started a loud whining or purring noise. I have checked all my fluids and the appear to be at proper operating levels and there is no leaking anywhere that I can see. I replaced the water pump last year but have not replaced a belt on the car. The noise starts when you crank the car up and sounds like it is in tune with the engine. The steering doesn't appear to be affected although if there has been a gradual change the ease of steering I may not notice, but it is not at the point of being a manual steering without power. I cannot hear it through the speaker (like a bad diode). No real performance change in the engine or transmission except when decreasing speed the downshift of the transmission is more noticeable, like the gnome is dragging the through the gears.

I have a newly acquired 2012 GMC Terrain, SLT2, FWD, four cylinder. I have discovered something my dealer has never heard of and knows nothing about, but says it must be normal!!! With the engine (hot or cold) and ignition off, key removed, about 15 seconds after opening any door, rear hatch, or hood, a "clicking" sound starts up under the hood and lasts several seconds. The same thing happens again after you close the door, rear hatch, or hood!! Using my automotive stethoscope, I have traced the sound to the front cover of the automatic transmission where there is an electrical connection. It is very audible at that point.
This is not causing any problems, but I would really like to know what it is and if, in fact, it IS "normal". If it is not normal, I need to get it repaired as soon as possible, as the car is still covered under GM's Certified Pre-Owned vehicle warranty. My dealer rep. could actually hear the "clicking", but was not concerned enough about it to even try to find out what it was!! He just told me it was normal!!
Bmw - 328 :: Pumping Noise Under The Hood - AC Compressor Failure?
I have a 2007 BMW 328xi with only 46000 miles. About three weeks ago, I heard some pumping noise under the hood so I drove the car to a repair shop for estimation. I was told that the AC compressor stopped working. When I drove out of the repair shop about 5 miles, the car stopped running and was towed back to that repair store. After the new AC compressor was installed, the car still could not be started. It was then towed to dealership. Now I was told that the AC compressor failure caused engine chain problem, to fix it. Does it make sense? How AC problem can cause engine problem?

I have a 2003 Saturn Ion, 5-speed, manual transmission, with about 95,000 miles. This week, whenever I turn on the air conditioning (high, low, or in-between) a whirring or revving or rumbling sound comes from under the hood, close to the car, center or passenger side. It sounds I'm driving a huge truck. The sound doesn't change with RPMs or MPHs, idling/neutral or in any gear.
The sound will begin shortly after I turn on the a/c and sometimes stop by itself. When it stops, especially if I'm not moving, the car gets so quiet (and there's just maybe a hint of hesitation) that it almost seems like the car has stalled. When I turn off the the air conditioning, the noise stops just after. But the whole time the a/c is on, it's working just fine, nice and cool.

Several minutes after I start driving in the morning, my car starts making a strange noise under the hood. It sounds like a motor running, or a strange buzz. After a few minutes, the noise stops stops. When it does, and if I'm stopped at a light, my engine jerks one time. The engine actually shut off one day, but I could start it right up. It does this once during the trip. The speed of the car or engine has no effect on the sound, but it stops if I turn the car off. If I restart the car, the noise does not return.
