Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 VW GTI - Leak On Left Side Of Engine
Recently purchased 2003 golf gti 1.8t that had a leak on left side of engine i think it was engine coolant hose flange it Didn't leak much and coolant stayed at 190. I took the car to a mechanic and he replaced the leaking hose but now the car rises past 190 at idle.

I am having a problem with my 2007 R32 manual,over the last few weeks its developed a whining noise in what seems to sound from the rear left side,more so when driving around a left hand corner (weight is off the noisy side),or when i let my foot off the gas and let the car run,ive jacked it up and when I grab the back left drive shaft and shake it, I found there's a bit of play on the side going into the diff, there's 70000 miles on it and no problems to date, looking for some info on what problem could be?

Just the other day I noticed that my passenger side mirror will move up and down, but not right and left. Drivers side works fine. The mirrors are all stock, I haven't changed them yet. It's been pretty cold out lately and I recently washed my car (on a warmer day). Could this be the cause?

I Have had my 99.5 jetta for 4 years now, car drives straight, no tire wear issues, but from day one I have noticed by looking in the wheel wells of both rear tires that the r/s rear is set back further than the l/s rear, l/s rear looks centered in the wheel wheel and the r/s rear looks to be back further and not centered, no evidence of any rear damage from a previous owner, car drives straight as an arrow , I'm stumped, all four tires have worn even in the past 3 years.

Last night I noticed a weird sound coming from the left side (alternator side) of my engine. Took a video.... I have already done my timing belt replacement about 10k miles ago. Oil is full, no leaks. Have the pcv block so it has a slight putting sound (as stated from their install manual). You can hear an inconsistent hollow growling sound that happens at idle but also under revs. Didn't notice the sound this morning but a lot last night.

Golf/GTI VI :: Geiger Counter Like Sounds Emanating From Left Side Dash
Just got a 2012 GTI and I've started experiencing Geiger counter-like sounds emanating from the left side dash. It's audible over the radio, but still faint enough. Sometimes continue for an entire ride or goes away for a while. It's the only interior noise that has remained a constant.

I owe a GTI autobahn 2015! I have problems with the front suspension (left side) sounds like is all loose, took the car to the dealer all they did is tight a bolt that is part of it! Problem still remain!!
When going over speed bumps and pot holes the front suspensions hit very hard like the shocks are not doing their job property!! This is causing the body of the car to start coming loose! I can hear some noises like an old car!!
Is normal or they need to be replaced,, i always drive in sport mode!!
Golf/GTI VI :: Hollow Sounding Knocking / Whirring Noise From Left Side
My car has ~2500km on it now and I've noticed a whirring / knocking noise from the left side of the car Mk6 GTI. It's not loud (in fact, hardly audible at times) but it's there. It's most noticeable when I am driving slowly (~30km/h) at low rpms (1500rpm).
It's only when the car is in motion that I can hear the noise. I revved the engine in neutral and could not re-produce the noise.
I've tried adjusting the tire pressure but that didn't seem to work. It was at 38 psi and now at 40 psi. No diff in the noise level.
It sounds like a knocking (like two plastic tubes hitting each other) /whirring noise but I cannot pinpoint the source...or whether it's even under the car or the engine...but it's definitely the left side.

I know all Hyundai's 1.8L Nu engines have that quiet ticking noise. But is there a slight knocking sound on the left side of the engine (around the belt area)? Could this be just the timing chain noise? It does this on idle but when on a constant speed/rpm, the engine is quiet.

So, I'm having this weird knocking noise on front left (drivers) side. It appears when I'm accelerating and stops immediately when i press clutch.. The noise gets stronger if i accelerate fast and gets faster, faster i go. Surprisingly the noise stops when i lift my car up and starts again at my drive height. Could it be driveshaft joints? I have the most terrible clunking/rubbing sound on my right passenger side, especially when I'm turning left. When I drive straight it sounds like the wheel is hopping even when going over minuscule imperfections in the road. I also get a terrible rub when going over speed bumps or into grooves and dips in the road.
I've searched and searched but cannot come up with a answer towards rectifying the issue. My car hasn't been lowered; I'm running the stop 337 suspension. I've replaced the following within the past two years:
-control arm bushings
-ball joints
-tie rod ends
-upper strut bushings and bearings
-passenger side axle
-dog bone mount
-engine mount
-tranny mount
Most recently:
-front struts
-sway bar end-links
-driver's side axle
It seems to like everything should be solid considering I've done all of this crap. I don't understand why I'm having this issue and why it sounds like it is getting worse and worse.
Touareg :: Unusual Whirring Sound From Left Side Of Engine Bay Or Inside The Dashboard
I've noticed over the past two mornings while driving to my office a sort of whirring sound for lack of a better word. It has only happened in the mornings. It has been low to mid-50s temp. The sound seems to be coming from the left side of the engine bay or inside the dashboard. Basically like a fan sound but this happens even without my HVAC activated. It doesn't seem like a big deal but the reason I mention this is because it's the first time I've even experienced this since buying my Touareg last year.
Interestingly, after shutting the engine off and restarting, the sound goes away. This particular sound is definitely noticeable, even with my stereo on.
Mazda - Tribute :: 2003 - Squeak Come From Main Belt On Left Side Of Engine?
My 2003 Tribute has started squeaking. Seems to come from the main belt on the left side of the engine. Faint at idle, but gets somewhat louder as the rpms go up. What is the accepted protocol for dealing with this? How do I understand if the belt needs replacing, or if something is out of alignment? BTW, as best as I can see/feel it, the belt itself is in OK shape. Is there some kind of lube? (Though it's a smooth belt, so that might not be smart ...)

My passenger side has been making thud noises on a number of occasions on my 01 Jetta 1.8t:
1. When I go over bumps, the front passenger side will make a loud thud noise.
2. When I take my foot off the brake, there will be a loud thud from the front passenger side as well.
3. When making left hand turns and I begin to turn the wheel back to return it to its original position, there is a thud coming from the front passenger side as well.
It does not continuously click like a bad CV joint would. All these symptoms came at the same time period.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Horn / Left Side Turn Indicator (blinker) Light Not Working?
I realized my horn is not working. I also realized that the left side turn indicator (blinker) light is not working and when I popped it out I saw the wires were chewed up, I am not sure what happened. Do you think I need to remove the wheel well liner to try to access that area? What to do?

We have had a 2007 Camry & now a 2007 BMW, both of which get grease stains on the area under both front doors. It is not on the door or anywhere else. Just in the 6 inch or so high area under each front door (both sides, 6 inch by 24 inch area). We also have a Saturn Vue but it does not get them. We can clean it off with Goo-Gone or Dissolve-It, but it still requires hard scrubbing. The car is Silver so the black stains are very obvious.
The BMW dealer said it was some kind of wax they coat things with during manufacture that oozes out of the door, but after 5 years that should be gone. Just frustrating since it so quickly re-accumulates after cleaning.
