Peugeot - 206 :: 2005 - Noisy And Shaky Engine
i have a 2005 peugeot 206 1.4 hdi around 180.000 kms. Recently, the engine started to run very noisy and extremely vibrating/shaking, some kind of rapid ticking sound comes out of it (from the timing belt side i guess?). It totally gives me headaches on long trips. I've diagnosed the car 3 times at bosch services and other services and the device showed no errors or malfunctions. The problem gets more severe after long running times and high revs. several mechanics told me various things like,
It is okay nothing to worry with,injectors nozzles or valves may be corrupt,the timing belt system has to be replaced, gasket has to be replaced, eccentric shaft became unbalanced (really?)
There is totally no consistency among different comments. i am totally lost and don't know what to do.i filmed the engine at first start in the morning : [URL] .... The problematic noise can be heard distinctively starting from 00:06 mark, excessive vibration can be seen on engine block.
Golf IV R32 :: Noisy Transmission - Loud Whining Corresponds With Engine Speed
Well, Car is in the shop to get the trans looked at. Loud whining noise in 1, 2, 3. corresponds with engine speed, not road speed. I think input shaft bearings are shot. Going to get a new clutch and throwout bearing while it's out. 116K miles.
View 1 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Engine Loud On Morning Start / High Idle And Noisy
I'm not sure if this qualifies for a "cold start" but my 1.8T sounds imperfect when I start it for the first time of the day. It'll rev around 1200 RPM, instead of the normal 800RPM idle if I start it after it had recently been turned off for a short period.
It sounds almost like my old car that had an exhaust leak, but not as obnoxious. When it settles back down to 800RPM it really purrs and sounds great. Is this normal?
2003 Wolfsburg Jetta 1.8T, not sure if I wrote that in my profile yet. 41k miles and recently serviced for 40k milage. Has sounded this way before and after the service.
Prius (Gen 2) :: 2005 - Intermittently Noisy Coolant Storage Pump
I have an 05 Prius with pump issues. My coolant storage pump has been making an intermittent coarse squealing noise since I've owned the car. It seems to be worse in cooler weather. It only happens when turning the car off. Does this pump only operates after shutting the car off? If that's the case, then I won't worry too much about it. If it's supposed to function when the car is on, then I may worry. Does the pump keep running until it's finished, or is it just a timed cycle? I'm concerned if there's air in the line, it may prevent the pump from completing it's job if it's on a timed cycle. Also, if I have to replace this pump, how would I go about bleeding all of the air out of the system?

The car has brand new sparkplugs. What could the problem be?
Golf/GTI VI :: Engine Coolant Reservoir Overfilled?
I went to the dealer yesterday for my 105000km service. After it is done, I realized that they overfill the engine coolant reservoir. Should I make an appointment with them again to drain them out and put back the right amount? Or it is completely fine?
View 4 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Engine Coolant Light Flashing
The past two days when I went to warm up my car, when I got back in it to leave I noticed the engine coolant light flashing. I checked the book and it just says if its flashing to contact the dealer. I have already done so for my next maintenance anyway. It has been around 10 degrees out both times when i started it. 2012 GTI with 9300 miles. Also, if you turn the car off, and start it back up, it does not come back on..
View 16 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: CEL Code For Engine Coolant Temp
Few weeks ago I threw a CEL for an engine coolant temp. It went away and came back now as a P3081, I don't recall that being the code before. But from what I understand It is a simple sensor that I can replace myself. Car is running fine and not overheating.. it did however overheat the last time It threw a CEL but that was also stop and go traffic with AC on.

My AC fan has gotten noisy. Maybe the bearing is going or maybe I can oil it and get rid of the problem that way. Any instructions on how to access it?
View 4 RepliesGolf VI R :: Engine Coolant Level Low Warning Light
About a month ago I noticed the coolant level looked a little low. I attributed it to the fact that the engine was warm after driving. Tonight the coolant light illuminated and the mfd states the level is low. Sure enough it's quite low.Is this normal for the R? I know my MK5 GTI burned oil like crazy. Should I be concerned?
View 2 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: A/C Sounded A Little Noisy
Took my car in (2011 Golf Base 2dr 5spd) for it's 10k mile oil change and checkup and mentioned that the A/C sounded a little noisy, kind of like a whine, every so often. It didn't really bother me but my wife would complain about it. The air was ice cold and I just figured maybe it was normal. Well I got a call from the service advisor and he said the noise was due to an internal failure and they were going to replace the compressor. I sure was surprised. Got the car back and the A/C is just as cold and is now nice and quiet.
So if your A/C is even slightly noisy I would bring it up. Could save yourself having to replace a costly compressor down the road.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2000 - Coolant Boiling Inside The Engine?
VW Golf 2000 2.0 GLS engine auto. 158,000 km
Observation 1: The coolant flange broken 3 times, which appear to be caused by pressure inside.
Observation 2: I drove it today to see the problem. During normal driving upper hill, the temperature turned to be higher than normal. 1 or 2 minutes later after red light, I turned off the engine. And then driving for 2 minutes after the green light, the temperature read appeared to go back to normal (a tiny bit higher than normal). Further driving 5-7 minutes, the temperature reading went to the high end again. So I stopped, opened the engine cover and can hear water boiling sound inside the engine. The coolant in the expansion tank was much higher than normal (above the maximum). The coolant is Prestone (not G12).
I would guess that coolant is not flowing inside. But the problem appears to occur randomly. A water pump issue? (replaced at 90,000km) Or could be the thermostat? Why cannot the pressure be released automatically?
Golf IV R32 :: Engine Coolant - High Input Code P0018
My cel is once again starring me in the face ... P0018 is the code I got followed by "engine coolant - high input". Where I can buy a book/chart that explains these codes. I'm assuming it is some sort of sensor gone bad but not sure exactly.

Golf/GTI VI :: Noisy CV Boots When It Rains?
Do the wet boots make a clicking/rubbing type noise when turning on your car? It happen on my 2012 GTI, but only when it rains. It's really loud when I turn inside a parking garage. It's definitely not the joint itself, but rather is the rubber boot sticking to itself and releasing on the compressed side of the boot during the turn. No other car of mine has made this type of noise, even those with cheap Chinese aftermarket axles.

Any troubleshooting tips on determining where the noise is coming from at the rear of the car? There is a pretty audible hum at 55 mph coming from the rear of the car and I am not sure if its the balancer or the diff.
