How to remove the plastic engine cover that covers the engine? I'm know some of them are just held in place with friction plugs and only require a good tug, but I've thought that about other things in the past which have resulted in expensive noises.

View 6 RepliesFord Aerostar :: Trick To Remove A-Pillar Trim?
Is there a Trick to remove the A-pillar trim? I pulled all of the screws that I could find. Looking at the pic, there should be a screw near the rear of the Dash, but I am not seeing one there. It feels caught on something as I pry. I don't want to pry too hard to just have it crack/break.
I have pulled the black speaker panel at the front on the dash already. That was a pain to do with the windshield in the way.
Also, any tips on removing the trim around the sliding door window in the pic? Pulled all the screws and it still feels attached to something at the top.
Passat (B7) :: How To Remove The Exterior B Pillar Trim On Front Door
I'm looking for the process to remove the exterior black glossy b pillar trim on the front door. My wife decided to open my door against a ladder and it has a 3mm scratch that's going to big the piss out of me so I'm looking to replace it. Also looking for the PN as well.
View 2 RepliesGTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Rain Water Caused Liner To Lift Off Of A Pillar And B Pillar Gets Moist As Well
I have a 2004.5 Gli that I'm getting really excited to fix. First question as a Noob how many miles can I get out of the engine with regular up keep. It has 140k? I just had the timing belt and water pump done and it feels great but i dont want to get into a huge money sandpit.
There is water getting in when it rains which has caused the liner to lift off of the A pillar and the B pillar gets moist as well. No damage to the head liner at all just the pillars and the door liner has gotten damaged and lifted. I've already checked the the sun room drains/drain nipples they work great.
I have to get the front end fixed- New valance and paint. I'm sure this will have to wait till next summer so i can save the funds to have a good paint job/blend of the hood and fenders. Plus my driver side door needs a touch up after being keyed.
After searching the forum all day yesterday i found the color code for the rc's and was going to get them powder coated due to curb rash and really bad chips. But is the oem brilliant silver color the best for the Grey metallic color GLi?
Obviously I am wanting to first work on the exterior aesthetics of the car first. Engine performance is fine, I am not a heavy footed driver on the streets and on the hwy it does fine at 90. But I do see a chip and FMIC in the next year being a possibility.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: C-Pillar Won't Fit?
I went out to the jetta today to install the GLI c pillars I just bought and when trying to install them they don't fit? there's a large gap between the pillar and the headliner when the pillar is in the proper position.
I thought all the jetta pillars were exactly the same? are the gli pillars a different size/shape than normal jettas or jettas from an earlier year?
Golf/GTI VI :: B Pillar Creaks Noise And Rattles
On my 2 door GTI, I had 2 rattles. One was coming from the door latch mechanism, and the other was coming from the black plastic b pillar trim. I picked up a can of "Blaster" silicon spray from Home Depot and sprayed just a little bit into the latching mechanism (on the door side). So far this has completely eliminated the knocking noise that I would hear in the door when driving over bumps.
On my drive afterwards, I kept hearing the infamous noise from the b-pillar trim, which seems to be a result of heat expansion when going from cold temp.... how the piece would sit there creaking when the car wasn't even moving. Anyways, I sprayed some of the silicon lube onto a q-tip and applied it to the edge of the plastic b-pillar trim that runs along the inside edge of the door. I guess I put enough on the q-tip to get it inside the edge of the plastic where it touches the metal of the door.
So far, my car is quiet as a mouse. It feels so good to have my car sound like the day I drove it off the lot!
Disclaimer: It could be a coincidence and perhaps the b-pillar had finally warmed up to a temp where it stopped creaking on its own, but it DID stop creaking as soon as I drove off after applying the lube. I'll post back if anything changes.
Golf/GTI VI :: B-Pillar Trim Creaking Sound
Experiencing the black b-pillar trim creak? Just pressing on that black vertical plastic trim causes the plastic sounding "creak".
Just curious... what was the solution? It's driving me nuts.. it is so sensitive that when the car just moves into the sunlight, it starts creaking as it expands in the heat.
Golf/GTI VI :: B-Pillar Noise Whenever Turn / Hit Bumps
Still brand new to the MKVI, just got a 4 door GTI, only 1,000 miles on it now, and I have a question. There is a very annoying noise coming from both of my b-pillars whenever I turn or hit some bumps. It sounds almost like flexing or creaking, as if pieces aren't on tight enough or something. Now normally this doesn't bug me too much (it IS a VW after all) BUT, I have never heard noises from my VW before when it was still basically brand new.

Having persistent wind noise from around the driver's door right at the "A" pillar. I've been to two different dealerships with no resolution. I don't need any home remedy solutions as I've done just about everything humanly possible to fix it myself. Tape, 1/4" vinyl tubing, foam insulating tape, moving the door striker nothing works. VWOA is now involved and they are clueless as well.
View 7 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: Leak In Washer Fluid Line By C-Pillar
My rear washer fluid sprayer has always been pretty weak. I figured there was probably a leak in the line somewhere. When I adjusted my rear view mirror the other day, I saw some washer fluid leaking out of the roof liner by the driver side c-pillar. I've been having some trouble finding a good DIY on removing the c-pillar cover and patching/replacing the line, I'm hoping this will be a pretty easy fix. This is as far as I've managed to get on my own. Not far at all. Yes, that is the driver side. PhotoBooth reverses the image, since it's predominately used for face shots.

U will hear this Ta-ta-ta-tak-tak tak each time I accelerate, for 2k to 3k rpm to hear it better. Sound like an old subway that dive and creak by the high pressure... The sound can be hear on some bumpy bad roads too but it a lot more frequent when I just accelerate.

Golf/GTI VI :: Creaking Or Rattle Noise Seemingly Coming From B-Pillar
I did a quick search on the 'creaking' or 'rattle' noise seemingly coming from the B-Pillar and found just a bunch of complaints.
Any fix, whether DYI or dealer? It is driving me crazy and is completely unacceptable for a brand new car, of any make or model. What to do and that is what I will do. No matter the measures at this point.
Golf/GTI VII :: Hatch Is Rubbing Against The Bumper In Corners - A Pillar Trim
So my GTI is going back to dealer tomorrow to deal with a few problems that are driving me insane.
First the hatch is rubbing against the bumper in the corners and has worn away the paint on both sides.
Then there is the A pillar trim on passenger side that has come loose at the top, also we have the rear lights that are letting in water on both sides and finally the start button is starting to fall apart and has cracked!!
I have owned 4 vw's from new and never encountered this level of shoddy workmanship. I can only put it down to new plant and new model, very annoying.
Purchased in June and has 12,000 and love it but these niggles are frustrating.
