Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Key Fob Only Unlocks The Driver Door
When I hit unlock on the key fob it unlocks the driver door. If I hit it twice, I still only unlocks the driver door. It won't unlock the other three doors. If I manually unlock the doors with their handles and then hit lock on the fob it locks them all.
When I got the car it worked fine. Two clicks of unlock on the fob unlocked all doors. Recently, I did replace the key fob battery.

This started happening a couple days ago, after turning off the car and attempting to lock the car with the handle button, it will lock (no beep) then unlock- the same way it would if there were keys left inside. The only other set of keys are at my house, so I know that's not the issue. Doesn't do it all the time, but enough to be annoying. Same thing happens if I use the remote- lock, no beep, unlocks. The only way I can get it to beep and stay locked is to open the pass side door and lock it with the pass side door button.

My car locks and unlocks itself when i stop, is this something i should be concerned with or is it just an annoyance i can forget about the car is cheap so not wanting to spend alot of money on it.

I just got my beautiful accent but the locks sometimes lock and unlock on their own! I think its just a grounded out wire. It doesn't happen all that often but I would like to get it fixed. Also the window switch doesn't work on the passenger side. The only thing that will make it go up and down is the switch on the drivers side.

When I use the fob to lock the '02 Santa Fe, the passenger door lock (only when hot outside) locks then unlocks. You can tell because you hear the locks cycle twice in rapid succession. If I use the key in the passenger door and lock the car, no issues; or if it's cool out no issues so something is expanding or dragging when it's hot. Where do I start the trouble shooting? The lock, the cables, the actuator?

Preliminary information: the vehicle is a 2003 jetta (gli), My drivers door ajar switch is broken and the ccm recognizes it as closed at all times (open circuit), also I was hit in the rear at about 40mph by an f-250 a week after I bought the car and I repaired the damage myself (I am not a body tech). I replaced all electrical components in the trunk as they were all destroyed as well as the trunk lid which has never quite closed the same.
.Key Fob serves no function, (replaced the battery as troubleshooting.)
.If I lock the doors VIA drivers door, passenger door or by key in door, the doors will lock and then immediately unlock.
.It seems to think a door is open even though they are all closed and the overhead lights don't come on like they would if a door was open.
.The door ajar light was on when it first started and the light burnt out after less than an hour in (coincidence? or short? I don't know what circuit to start on).
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Power Windows And Door Locks Not Working
I have a 2003 jetta GLI (vr6 6 speed) that i received from a friend because of some body damage to the doors mainly. so i replaced the doors with some from a 2001 jetta glx, but the power windows don't work with the switches inside the car. However, when I put the key in the door and turn it, all of the windows will go up and down...(So the motors are good and they are getting power) the door locks, gas cap lid, trunk, sunroof all work and the interior lights work as well.
So i researched it and everyone said fuse #14 or ccm... so i replaced the fuse.... multiple times now just to make sure... After that didn't work, i bought a new ccm with the same part #. that didn't work at all... still same problems... I was wondering if maybe the new doors are or aren't CAN-BUS? if that even matters?
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004 - Door Locks And Horn Not Working
I picked up a 2004 Jetta 1.8T and it's had a lot of electrical issues, it had some water damage from a plugged cowl drain and a I've found a bunch of stuff just unplugged. I had a shop fix some missing grounds to get it running and they went through the dash and found all the air control plugs had become unhooked somehow, so they got the air conditioning working. Now i'm working on getting the locks and the horn to work. I've checked the fuses, they're not blown. I'm not sure about the relays under the dash, but I can hear a clicking from the comfort control module when I hit the key fod. The buttons on all the doors are not working. the horn will sound if the alarm is set off but doesn't work when the button is pushed on the steering wheel, nor when the key fob is struck. The windows all work, both from the key turn and the switches in the door. I'm totally lost on what to do here.

I've got a 2002 jetta. new ecu, new cluster, new keys (new to me from a 2010 beetle) all installed but my windows, door illumination, locks and electric mirrors dont work. Windows will go up and down with key in door, and locks work that way as well. if i put my old cluster back, everything works fine.

My hatch has been unlocking just fine (you hear the click and it pops out just a little bit) but when you flip the emblem to open it won't always open. This is of course intermittent so I can't get it to happen at the dealer. It feels unlocked but when you pull on it something still is staying latched and I have to unlock it again with the remote to release.

Passenger side and trunk work just fine. Drivers side door no longer unlocks with the remote. Passenger side and trunk work just fine. Fresh batteries and all. I forgot how inconvenient it was not having a remote to unlock.

About a month ago I went to start my car and it started up and died and now it won't start at all. All it does is crank and crank and crank. My vagcom say j271 relay open circuit . so I replaced the 428 relay and it still doesn't start. I'm also not getting any epc or cel light with the key in the on position which is strange to me. But if I swap the 428 relay with the 100 relay right next to it I get all the dash lights like I'm suppose to but as soon as I try to start it the two lights go out and won't come back on until I pull the relay out and put it back in. I hate obd2 so much sometimes.

04 Gli 1.8t 6 speed. When I go to start my car and turn the key nothing happens . No clicking no cranking nothing. All my lights work radio works everything. Would a bad starter cause this? I can jump my car and it works fine.

I am having trouble with my car not starting, when turning the key nothing happens. I have replaced the battery and have even tried to push the car and do a rolling start could not get it going. I am assuming that if i can't do a rolling start that rules out the starter, is that correct? I also verified all fuses and changed the fuel pump relay.
I am leaning towards an electrical problem (ground/short circuit). I have a Bentley manual and VCDS tool, how to diagnose the electrical problem and pinpoint the issue.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2001 12v VR6 Does Not Start When Hot
So i have a mk4 jetta vr6, just did my motor swap went smooth... The car starts runs, when i shut my motor off and go to start it again when it is warm/hot.... it doesnt want to start.. just keeps turning n turning.... I have been through a couple of threads people recommended to change the coolant temp sensor... been there done that yesterday.... n no results thus far... same problems... the car has been sitting for a year since i had done any work to it...

Cracked my oil pan somehow on the way home. I didn't notice it at first because I didn't go out to start it till the following evening. I went out to let it warm up for 5 minutes that evening and it started perfectly fine. I went back in the house to grab a couple of things, and i could here a loud ticking so i run out side to shut the car off and just as i get to the car it dies. so i push it into the shop and of course i notice the huge splotch of oil on the gravel. It sat in the shop for close to a month, as I got busy with school, and what not, I didn't get a chance to replace the oil pan.
I finally replaced the oil pan on Friday night, there was no metal bits or shavings in the old oil pan. it wont start. everything turns on in the car just fine. It just wont start. Battery is at 12.6 v all the grounds are solid no corrosion. The car tries to start, but the starter will maybe turn over once or twice and then stop.
Is the Motor pooched or is there something I'm missing.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 1.8t GLI Doesn't Start Sometimes Unless Keep Trying
Last year I had an issue with starting my 1.8t Jetta Gli. Every couple of weeks, the car wouldn't start unless I keep trying or come back after a couple of hours. I then thought it was the cranks sensor and had it replaced. Unfortunately, the problem is back! The idle seems a little jumpy, car isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be. It also doesn't seem to have a strong start. I can't figure out what it exactly is, and I don't want to start changing random parts. I was debating on perhaps getting a new fuel pump, coilpacks...

My car was having starting issues recently so I took the starter to Autozone and the guy said that it wasn't performing as well as it should. I just went ahead and bought a new starter hoping that would fix it. I took the starter home installed it and the car started! Yay!(I thought) The next day I drove it around a couple of times, that night I went to go to work and it wouldn't start. All I get is one click when I try and start it. The alternator is fine and it is a brand new battery.
