Ford - F150 :: Stuttering And Occasional Backfire

1997 F-150 190K miles recently started stuttering and occasional backfire. feels like it's trying to shift but can't. I feel like I need to stomp the gas. I'm thinking plugs, wires, or coils....

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2000 - Backfire During Downshift

2000 2.0 has full oem exhaust, when downshifting it pops, could this be something in the exhaust or fuel? Not sure as it pops about 2-3 times per downshift. No more no less.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2001 - Surging / Backfire And Missing

I just acquired a 01 wolfsburg jetta 1.8t and first time vw owner.

I just got the car and found that all the pcv ventilation hoses were crumbling and broken down. I replaced everything under the intake up to the y at the valve cover. All was in stock at the dealer was the oil cooler elbow, tee and pcv valve. From there, i made my own hoses using 3/4 hose and couplers.

Before this, it ran fine but sometimes at idle the idle would jump up and down but not die. I also had a couple codes, can't remember what the number was. One was O2 bank 1 sensor 1 lean and i think the other was O2 related.

Now, after trying to fix the leaks. CE light went out but idle still does the same but my boost improved from like 5psi to like 9psi wot. That's not an issue but coming home tonight when i went to second, it felt like it was dragging or not wanting to accelerate or accelerate and like stall for a second. If you blip the throttle it back fires while in second when its doing this.

Only mod on the car i know of is it has a forge DV/blowoff i guess is the correct name. It can be used as a dv or both.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Backfire And Go Into Soft Limp At Around 5 - 6 Psi While Accelerating

Ok, so my 1.8T hasn't really run right in quite a while, it dramatically goes into boost, then sometimes will just backfire and go into soft limp at around 5-6 psi while accelerating.

Specs:

Stock ECU
3" turbo back
TIP
FMIC
Short ram air with K&N
2.0 coils with proper NGK plugs (I cant remember exact name right now)
All evap/SAI and emissions deleted
Coolant ball deleted

Replaced:

- Crankshaft position sensor
- Camshaft position sensor
- MAF (autozone brand )
- Coilpack wire harness
- Swapped between 2 different N75's
- Piston and spring in Forge Splitter

Below is what I pulled with the vagcom cable I just got in the mail today, along with the DTC names I found from Bentley's page. I know the 411 and 441 are from the SAI/Evap delete but other than that what I should replace next?

VCDS-Lite Version: Release 1.2

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Stuttering And Hesitation When Accelerating Or Under Load

I bought a cheap golf in february. It's an akl engine (1.6sr). Everything was fine on the way home. The car then wasn't used for like a month or two, and was stored outside. When we started using the car it gradually got more and more stuttering. At first it was just a slight stutter when accelerating, but now it's horrible. It will stutter and hesitate like crazy when accelerating or under load, but will cruise just fine at normal rpms. So far I have changed the air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs and a bad spark plug wire, but nothing has worked. I bought a vag scanner but couldn't find any codes. The idle isn't too bad but not perfect. What the problem can be?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004 1.8T Randomly Stuttering And Dying

I'm getting used to just expecting a problem with this car every 3 months or so. Anyway, I have a 2004 1.8T GLI which lately has been idling and then stutters and dies. The first time it happened it turned right back over and started driving. So I drove it home and cleaned up the battery terminals and it didn't seem to have a problem since. Now about a month later I was just parked and turned it over.

It was on for about 1 second and then it stuttered and died. I can hear the starter engaging and turning the engine, but it won't turn over. I also checked the battery levels and its showing 12v so I don't think it's electrical? From scanning forums here it seems like the two prime suspects are spark plugs or the fuel pump?

Also checked the fuses and none are burnt. I could see it being the fuel pump because that would explain it randomly stuttering and dying. Also the car is at 149k miles and that is the original pump. Wondering if maybe it being at 1/4 tank isn't working either? Going out to buy a vagcom and see what codes it throws!

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2001 - Loud Backfire - Replaced Chain Guide Still Rattling - Only 3 Cylinders Working?

So, I was driving down the road one day at like 50mph or so and had the loudest backfire I've ever heard. As I was putting my car on the dolly to tow home I heard a bunch of rattling and thought maybe it was a rod bearing or something. I pulled the oil pan and found chunks of my upper chain guide (rod bearings were fine).

I replaced the chain guide and checked the timing hoping it would fix the problem, but it didn't. The rattling was gone but I was only running on 3 cylinders. Did a compression check and had 0 compression in Cyl5 and about 60-70 in Cyl2. I don't remember exactly what the compression was for the other cylinders since it was a while ago.

Started thinking it was bent valves, so I just recently pulled the head off to check them. They all looked like they were seating properly and none looked bent from what I could tell. I'm about to try to put some compressed air through it to see if the valves are leaking anywhere. the plugs, wires, and coilpack are all functioning properly.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Stuttering On Acceleration / Fuel PSI At Idle Barely Move

I fear my truck may be stuttering on acceleration.

I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge tonight and the fuel PSI at idle and under acceleration... barely moved. Stayed between 60-62PSI.

I'm thinking this isn't normal... shouldn't the PSI be reduced especially when I accelerate hard ?

I'm thinking the "delivery" fuel line... perhaps there is a bottle neck somewhere which is causing constant PSI at the fuel housing ?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2002 1.8T - Insufficient Power / Idle Little Rough

02 Jetta GLS ... 1.8 Liter Turbo ... 5 speed manual

Threw a lot of codes I don't know the #s but I can get them tomorrow, but I know there was a throttle pedal sensor, cam sensor, MAF, turbo, and a computer one.

I've had the car 2 weeks and its driven fine every day until today I backed out of my drive way after doing some driving earlier in the day and popped it into first and she fell on her face, no power rpm's were near 300. shut it off start it back up idles a little rough and I have a traction control light CEL and EPC lights all on. when I first take off it chugs and is hard to even get going and then it takes miles to get up to speed. I can put the pedal to the metal and my rpms barely budge and the car ever so slowly gains speed, she eventually will top out around 70. but that's after quite a stretch.

This happened one other time and after a few minutes everything went back to normal for nearly a week , this time no such luck.

Possibilities to shoot down maybe?

-fuel filter/system
-Cat. converter
-MAF sensor
-Coil packs
-computer something??
-throttle body
-turbo
-electrical

Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Rough Idle Under 1000 RPM - Sputtering Backfire

2003 Elantra gt 90,0000 miles manual transmission. Rough idle under 1000 rpm it smooths out completely above 1000 rpm.

Also the engine makes a ticking noise from a cold start up. It stops making the ticking noise after 1500rpm or when the engine warms up.

Occasionally the car has a sputtering backfire. This happens when I park the car after being on the highway.

Replaced the plugs, wires, and the pcv valve. Dropped the oil pan and it and the oil pump pick up screen were clean.

The only check engine light to come on was for the speed sensor. It has since gone out on it's own.

Passat (B6) :: Rough Idle / Stuttering And Stalling At Stop Lights

My vehicle has started to idle very rough, stuttering and almost dies at stop lights. It hesitates when accelerating, and really shakes and rattles if the AC is turned on. The check engine light and EPC lights are on. And even letting the foot off the brake in drive causes it to jerk along. I am up around 65k miles and have not had too many issues other than a fuel pump getting replaced last year. (the dealer first started replacing and charging me for many other items) I am scared to go back without trying to trouble shoot it myself.

What it could be and if there is anything I can try to correct it myself?

Prius (2004-09) :: 2006 Shuddering / Stuttering On Idle When Accelerate Onto Highway

I just purchased a used 2006 package 3 with 66500 miles on it. Drove it to work today and the car started sputtering/shuddering when i was accelerating onto the highway. The check engine line came on so I took it to the dealership. Turns out it was a bad sensor.

When they fixed the bad sensor, the mechanic told me that its normal to feel a slight stuttering when the gas engine kicks in or off which seems to be confirmed by other members here.

Accent MC (2006-11) :: 2008 - CEL Blinking / Car Started Stuttering And Idle Was Rough

I have a 2008 Accent. Yesterday the check engine light started to blink and the car started stuttering and the idle was rough. I've changed the air filter, which worked. But, it was recommended that I change the fuel filter. But, when I went to the parts store, they say that this model has a fuel strainer instead. What is that and where is it on my car? Is it easy to replace?

Golf VI R :: Hesitation And Backfire Under WOT

My R just started doing this under heavy acceleration for the past few days, I used to get a back fire pop during some hard shifts between gears but now it's doing under WOT.

Basically let say. I am cruising in 4th gear, if I drop down to 3rd and mash the pedal through the gear the car hesitates and pops a few times. It doesn't do it all the time but it's coming to a point where I'm concerned. Is this normal or should I have it checked out.

Mods are in sig, I'm still on the original spark plugs at 42k miles, that is going to be my first plan of attack. What it may be?

Golf/GTI VI :: Stuttering Between 2k And 4k?

So I have been APR K04 for about 3500 miles and recently noticed that when its cold in the am and my car is not yet warmed up if I give it a little gas in 1st through 3rd between 2k and 4k there is almost like a stuttering i can feel the car surge a little. my first thought is the tune is responsible, my second thought is that perhaps a coil pack has gone bad (although no CEL).

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Intermittent Loss Of Power - Momentarily Stuttering

Intermittent loss of power (could be describe momentarily stuttering) with momentary illumination of the check engine soon light. Its only happened a couple of times. Maybe about a year ago (I changed the fuel filter after it occurred). It occurred again about a month ago and then again yesterday. About a month ago I had a friend with a scanner look at the codes and he said there was only one and it was for low fuel pressure. Its been maybe 5k since I changed the fuel filter.

The truck is driven intermittently, maybe 5k or 6k a year, and usually parked with a full tank of fuel. What areas I should look at to correct this? I got my stock 2001 F350 4x4 manual transmission in 2004 with about 157k miles. Today I've got about 228k miles.

Golf V R32 :: CEL Flashing And Engine Stuttering?

I test drove a R32 today and had a question about a throttle hiccup. I tried searching but didn't come up with much...

I drove about 5 miles in traffic at 35-45 mph, eventually traffic cleared out, and the speed limit bumped up to 55. While accelerating from 40-55, probably half throttle opening, the cel started flashing and the engine began to stutter. I stopped the car, turned it off, and it started back up fine. On the way back, the situation repeated, but simply letting off the gas stopped it, and the cel stopped flashing.

Relevant info: 35 degrees F, 55k mileage, car behaved fine under small throttle openings. My best guess is the air flow or o2 sensors are gummed up from sitting at the dealership, but they're supposed to look at it and call me tomorrow. Does this sound like a common thing?

Golf/GTI VI :: Car Stuttering In Higher Gears And Accelerating In Like 3rd Or 4th

I have an APR Stage 1 flash done about 3 months ago and I absolutely love it and never had any issues.

I always leave my car in program two which is the 93 octane. I was driving home yesterday and when I was in the higher gears and accelerating in like 3rd or 4th and got the rpms up to 3500 to 4000 the car would stutter pretty hard. At one point it stuttered like 3 times in a row and then the check engine light blinked about 10 times and went away. When I got home I put the car back into stock mode and tried the same thing, but it ran smoothly with no issues.

Experienced this with the APR stage one flash. I'm thinking maybe it could be bad gas or the program didn't get set correctly, but not sure. I am going to put it back into the 93 program today and see if it still does the same thing.
