Golf V R32 :: Alarm Doesn't Honk Anymore
It's not particularly bothersome, I actually kind of prefer it but i'm just wondering if its something I did, perhaps a sequence of button presses on the remote that made it stop honking every time I lock it. It just started happening out of the blue and now it doesn't honk anymore, started 4 days ago
View 7 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: 2010 - Disable Alarm Honk When Locking The Doors
Is there any way to disable the alarm honk when locking the doors (2010 GTI)? The sound is obnoxious and I cannot stand it anymore. I took it to the dealer for my 90 day check-up and they said they cannot do it with this model.
I'm pretty sure it can be done with the VAG-COM........ but I don't have one. Is there a way to just unplug the unit that produces the noise.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Alarm Is Going Off And Key Fob Won't Unlock Car Or Disable The Alarm
So I had my hood open to check my oil, not a big deal for a 2001 Jetta 1.8t. When I shut the hood, the car decided to simultaneously lock, and now the horn/alarm is going off and the key fob won't unlock the car or disable the alarm. And the keys don't work in the door/trunk so I can't get inside. What I should do?

2000 Golf GTi 1.8t
Key fob has not worked for awhile so I use the physical key to lock and unlock the door. I locked the doors when I went to the movies last night come out and unlocked the doors as I always do, Get in and start my car and the alarm starts going off.
So of course I have a little freak out moment after about 30 seconds it went off. So I turn the car off and start it again same thing happened. I say screw it and drive it and the alarm shuts off once more.
I did notice when I got home and turned the car off the red light by the drivers side door lock knob was blinking.
I have looked all over the place and everything that I read says the car won't start. My car starts and drives just fine it's just when I first start it the alarm goes off for about 30-45 seconds.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004 - If Use Key Fob Alarm Goes Off
My 04 jetta, if I use any buttons on the remote it sets the alarm off. I've checked with a vag com and can see all the doors, hood and trunk open and close. Central locking works, it locks at speed, and will lock / unlock all the doors from the drivers door lock .

View 1 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Parking Brake Alarm Came On For No Reason
I have an 03 JETTA TDI 5 SPEED WAGON with 216 on it. The parking brake alarm recently came on for no reason (as did the warning light) As soon as you move 50' it starts and wont stop until you stop the vehicle. I pulled the center console, unplugged the switch and it still did it. I jumped the 2 wires together and it still did it! I cut the wires at the point where they disappeared into the larger harness, it still did it!!! Why this is happening and if there is something besides the switch at the park brake lever that make the alarm go off?
View 1 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: New Stereo / Deck - Alarm Not Working
I just installed an Alpine deck (single-din) in my 2002 VW Golf 2.0. When pulling out the factory deck, there are two wiring harnesses. One for the stereo itself, the other for the alarm.
The replacement deck doesn't have alarm settings. Question, after installing - I didn't connect the alarm to anything, just left it but now its disabled!! Is there a way to rewire so the alarm still functions without the stock stereo?
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Replaced Thermostat Now Alarm Going Off All The Time?
So I replaced my thermostat today... to do that I unhooked the negative terminal of the battery, removed the hose off the thermostat housing (I think that's what it's called) and disconnected the switch to the alternator as well as take off the 13mm jam nut holding the wire to the side of the alternator. I reconnected everything up, put the key into the ignition and just turned it before starting the car and the alarm started going off. I disabled the alarm from controlling the lights and horn by unplugging the electrical connector just behind the fuse panel so I could do some errands today. I then disconnected both terminals on the battery and touched them together to reset the ecu.
After reading that holding the key into the door lock until the windows roll down would reset the alarm; this weekend I'm going to hook up my driver side door lock mechanism (been a little lazy) and give that a try.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Door Open Alarm Stay On While Driving
I hit a pillar with the driver side door and it bent a bit and now the open door alarm stays on while I drive and its even worse when the lights are turned on, how do I disconnect the door open alarm?
View 6 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Alarm Door Lock Only Open Manually?
I am having issues with the door lock module.
I cannot open it with the remote or manually with the key. So i took the whole door apart and took out the actuator module thing and pulled it apart and checked all switches and solder joints and fixed them all and put back together to test and it still doesn't work. It doesn't seem like there is any power going to the module. I just plugged in the connector into the module and tried to test it and nothing.
I activate the micro switch for the door and the interior lights don't go on or off. They are off. Also when i put the key in ignition there is no noise and turning headlights on there is no noise. The last time i was working on the car was when everything was working and that was last Saturday. I opened the hood and shut the door and it locked itself but when i shut the hood the alarm went off and was a solid noise not a chirp or pulsation alarm noise. So i hit the unlock button on my remote and that fixed it.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Horn Doesn't Work But Alarm Beep Does?
I have searched up and down and i can only see people complaining about the reverse of my situation.
Is the Horn and the Alarm beep the same unit? Maybe a fuse?
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 1999 - How To Bypass Alarm Cutting Power To The Starter
1999.5 MK4 Jetta...
So I mentioned in a previous post that my dome light grounded out and melted the wiring down the A-pillar and into the larger harness. I cut the wire out and strangely am no longer burning up fuse #14 (interior lights, power windows, etc.) but continue to burn fuse #6 (central locking system). Probably the wires melted to the door wires and are grounding out.
Obviously I have to do a bigger fix to get everything re-wired (or just a whole new harness). But really, it's just the alarm that is keeping the car from being mobile, as the alarm is somehow cutting power to the starter (this happened to me before when fuse #14 blew - replace the fuse and boom, you have power to your starter again).
I have searched other forum posts fairly exhaustively with no luck - how to bypass the alarm cutting power to the starter? I know there is a fairly easy way to jump the alarm module connection on the MK3s, but can't figure it out on the same module on the MK4s. Again this is pre-immobilizer.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 1999 - Factory Alarm Appears To Be Draining Battery
I have a 99 Jetta mk4 and the factory alarm appears to be draining the battery. If the car sits for more than a day with the alarm set the battery light will come on.
If I don't set the alarm it seems ok. I assume it is something with the alarm but I realize there could be some other issues contributing. For example there is a light on the radio that blinks. It obviously uses some power.
I have 3 specific questions.
1. Where is the alarm located and if I disconnect it will is screw up other things? i.e. will the car start and run. Will the remote keys work etc.?
2. Is is possible for ME to disable the auto door look feature. The manual says take it to the dealer but is there a switch or similar that I can access on my own?
3. What is a good battery that people recommend in this size? I noticed the oem factory battery is 575 CCA and I have seen replacements as high as 650 CCA..

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004.5 Alarm Won't Work While Locking Or Unlocking Car Doesn't Beep
So I have an 05 MK4 GLI, my alarm has not worked since the day I got it. Hold the alarm button on the fob, no luck. when I lock or unlock the car, the lights don't flash and the horn doesn't beep. My ex had an 03 GLS 2.0, alarm/lock/unlock worked without a problem, so why mine doesn't work.

View 2 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: Bad Static In Stereo - No Honk When Alarmed
Stereo started to get bad static last night eventually died so all I heard coming from the speakers was static and popping type noise. Once I got home from work alarmed the car and noticed no honk when I alarmed it. I disconnected the connections to the amp in the trunk and pushed on the stereo to make sure it was secure. Left for work this morning had sound for about 20min then it went out completely again and still no honk when alarming car at work? Could it be a sign of a dying battery?
