Golf/GTI VII :: Dripping Inside Cabin When Raining

Should I be concerned or will it drain like normal? I thought it was dripping inside the cabin by the hollow plasticy thud sound it makes, makes me worry it's between the plastic layer and the door card.

Golf/GTI VI :: 2012 - Smells Like Chocolate After Raining

I have a 2012 GTI, and yesterday when I got in it I noticed it smelled like chocolate, it had been raining all day.

There has been no food in my car so it wasn't from a outside source. Are the GTI's known to have this smell?

I ask because I know the mk4 jettas smelled like crayons.

Golf IV R32 :: Engine Stall At Highway Speed Only When It Is Wet / Raining Outside

I've recently started having a problem where the car will die/engine stall when going highway speed (60-70mph), but only when it is wet/raining outside. I retain electrics/radio, but it seems that the engine just turns off. I get no response from the throttle, the rpms just drop and drop. The last instance, it died on me when I started to apply throttle to speed up from coasting at 60mph in 6th.

If I try to restart the car, it will fire up every time, but will die on the rpm downswing after it first fires up. However, if I give the car revs and maintain them (4-5k rpm) when starting, it stays alive and I can drive away. I've even done this during the last instance where the car died and I restarted while coasting at 40mph. I gave it gas on the restart and drove away and the car resumed completely normal operation.

I got codes relating to the throttle body, misfires, and even a bad ECM! However, the next day when things dried up, it ran completely normal, and continues to every day it is dry.

Again, this only happens when its wet/raining out. I popped open the hood and the top of the engine and ecu/raintray seem dry. However, I do not have a belly pan. Also, the car is VF Stage 2 with the air filter in the passenger bumper area, but it is running the plastic shroud around it.

I will try troubleshooting by having the car at idle and spraying water in different spots in/around/under the engine bay to see if I can reproduce the issue.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 GL With Wet Floor Board After Raining

Returning to the VW fold. Just purchased a 03 Jetta GL (NO SUNROOF) and after the first rain, the passengers floor board is wet. I have searched the forums and have read many threads about the sunroof drain. Where else could this be coming from? I had a BMW that would do this because the vapor barrier in the door came loose. Is this the same situation? I looked at the panel at the bottom of the windshield and it looks tight against the glass and do not see anything stuck in between the panel and the glass.

Golf IV R32 :: Super Loud Exhaust Noise When Raining?

I was in my first torrential downpour in the R yesterday and when it was at its worst the exhaust suddenly went from flapper-modded to extremely loud, from what sounded like the center point of the car, almost as if the exhaust joint came loose, but once it had a minute to dry after the rain stopped it went away.

Golf/GTI VI :: Clutch Would Slip And Then Bang While Engaging After Raining

Today I parked my golf on the street and it was raining, when I came back to the car after four hours the street had flooded and water was about an inch below the bottom of the door on the driver side, and about an inch (or more) on the passenger side and up to the bottom of the exhaust pipes in the back.

The car started fine, but when I began to drive it the clutch would slip and then bang while engaging. Once I had taken off a few times gently everything smoothed out. Car drives fine and the engine bay was dry when I got home (a 40 minute highway drive). NO water got inside the car at all, so the interior was completely dry, every thing appeared to function perfectly. My question is, assuming just the bottom of the motor, trans, and undercarriage got wet is there anything I should be weary of? Any sensors or electrical things down there? Lights, ac, door locks, everything is working and running fine and dry at this point.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: How To Clean Inside Door Handle

I need to clean the inside door handles badly on my Jetta. See pics. It seems that there outer layer of plastic is stained and rubbing off. I want to take this layer off completely, and protect it, but want to make sure I use something that's not harmful to the plastic.

Additionally, I need to re-glue a couple of trim pieces. I looked into trying to get replacement wood burl pieces, but VW stopped making them years ago, and I can't find them anywhere. My local dealer last sold a single piece a year ago for $303 (yes - a single piece - the driver door simple 1" strip; not the whole kit). So I'm going to try to re-glue the broken piece to try and make it look decent. I'm wondering if others have had experience doing this and can suggest the best type of glue.

Golf IV R32 :: Rear Springs Looked Shiny And Clean As They Were Making Contact With Spiral Above It

When I looked at them a couple days ago I noticed that on the top of the original springs (I'd say first and maybe some of the second down) looked shiny and clean like it was making contact with the spiral above it. Could this be a warning sign of needing new springs or is this somewhat normal? The Car is a hair under 82k miles.

Golf V R32 :: The Hatch Signals, As Being Opened

Been noticing when doing a touch-free high pressure car wash, I tend to have some issues after-wards in which the hatch signals it being opened (this was intermittent and would periodically ding it was open and go away), only to after about a day go away completely. This happened twice and since it rectified itself pretty quickly I didn't look further in to it. During the aforementioned issue period I was able to open the hatch, backup camera worked (OEM emblem one) and also use the rear wiper.

We had some pretty bad rain recently and I did a lot of driving that day between our house, work etc and it got a lot worse. Now it permanently says hatch is open, I cannot open the hatch via the emblem and the rear wiper does not work, but the backup camera works.
