GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Gauge Cluster Needles Don't Move As Soon As Car Turns On
I have a 2005 mkiv GLI and my gas gauge, temp gauge, and information display stopped working when the car is running. They work when the car is on auxiliary but not while it's running. The lights all work on the cluster all the time but the needles don't move as soon as the car turns on.

This past weekend my ESP light came on and won't go off...along with that I realized that my cruise control stopped working as well. I did a search...saw something about a brake light recall? However didn't find an answer to this combination of things. The only mod under the hood I have is a p-flo intake. What might be up?

I have a 2000 Intrepid. I start the car and turn on the cruisecontrol. The light comes on for 10 seconds then turns off. I have to turn the car off and on to get the light to come on again. But it still goes out after exactly 10 seconds. If I push the brake pedal before the light goes out then it stays on until I release the brake. I am never able to set the speed even when the light is on. I assume some check is going on during those 10 seconds and something is failing and that's why the light goes off. What part of the cruise control system is failing and how do I test for this failure.

so i bought projector headlights on my 05 gli and they were easy to install and for the first few days no problems, when the car was off and the lights on it was the parking (P) lights (amber lights), later if the lights were on and the car was off the radio would turn on, the A/C and the low beams would be on even if the hand-break was up, and i still have the DTR lights on. is it a short circuit problem???

I have a 20th AE. My traction control light went on and stayed on while I was driving and now it won't go away. I hit the switch to try to turn traction control on, but the light still on and traction control is still inoperative. I get in my car to leave Target last night and the ABS light & "traction control off" light (normally on when I push the ECS button on the dash) turned on. Did the usual turn the car off and wait for routine, but that didn't work. Haven't made any changes to the car, and it hasn't rained in a while either so I don't think it's due to water shorting something out. As you all know, the DIY sticky post doesn't work anymore, so that's why I'm probably posting a repeat of something.

so another winter has come to me in michigan and i had to take off my nice performance tires and put on the winter steelies. but as i come to now with them on, my ESp light has come on, on my dash and wont turn off even if i reset the car. i havent checked the VAGCOM yet cause that laptop is at my parents. the tires are the same i used last year and didnt have this happen either. any thoughts on this and what could be wrong? haveing no traction control in the winter is not cool to have in my book.

So I just drove home and the battery light comes on. A few miles later the ABS and Traction Control Light come on as well. Then I notice the windshield wipers slowing down, etc. You get the idea.
I turned everything non-essential off and made it all the way home. Of course, after I turned her off, the car won't start now.I took a couple of pictures of my battery. It always looked a bit corroded and messy, but this is pretty bad.
What I need to get the car running again? Obviously the red wire on the left is in bad shape. Is that something one can buy at the auto store? Or should I just bring her to my local shop.

My 04.5 GLI's cluster is so dim when illuminated (yes i have the dimmer turned up). I was comparing it to my friends GLS jetta and my other friends GLX GTi (they have a different cluster for me obviously, but same as each other correct?). Unfortunately there are no other 3/2/G's around the area to compare with. i have a new south color match boost gauge, and it is almost twice as bright as the cluster. yet it looked "perfectly matched" in my friends GLS. Are the 3/2/G clusters just straight up dimmer or what can i do to diagnose/fix this problem?

i just recently put in 35W 8000K hi/lo HID's in my GLI the problem is for some reason on my instrument cluster it says my hi beams are one which they are not and it is only lightly illuminated. if u turn on the hi beams the hi beam switch on the cluster turns on and gets brighter so is their any way i could have the switch completely turned off like it was with stock bulbs?

Last night was the 1st night my car spent OUTSIDE the garage and it POURED! Anyhow, the door ajar symbol is lit in my instrument cluster but all the doors are shut. I did the walk around, made sure all the doors and hatch are closed. The symbol would disappear for a minute then reappear. Whats up with that? I never came across a problem like that.. Where are the sensors so I can check them? Are they the little things that stick out underneath the door?

So my Gti 337 it starts but it turns right back off starts and turns right back off people are telling me it's the fuel pump checked it it's not that people are saying its my ECM.
