GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Speaker Makes Bad Noise
I have a 03 vw jetta gli 24 valve and i would like to change the speakers because 2 are blown and the third one makes bad noise. The problem is that i don't know what kind of speakers to buy.

My 337 transmission is acting a bit weird lately. Sometimes when I shift the gear from neutral into the first gear too quickly when the car is stationary (with the clutch fully pressed), the gear or the transmission makes a distinguish sound. I don't know how to describe this sound. It sounds like gears knocking each other in order for it to engage or set in place. It sounds different from shifting gear without fully pressing down the clutch. When I took the car to the mechanic, he test drove the car around the block but didn't hear anything strange. So he told me to wait till this problem becomes worse and happens more frequently.

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Misfire - Exhaust Has Gas Smell?
So i just got back into town after not driving her for about a week, started her up(barely), and saw engine light. While on the engine putters and sounds bad. The exhaust smells like gas. I have done no Mods except for APR stage one and a K & N air filter. Is it misfiring? Is my software bad?

I got my heater core replaced about 2 months ago. Since than I get this almost like a burning smell coming through the vents. Took to dealer they said they dont know, because i replaced cabin filter, and they say they don't smell a coolant leak. So to find out they have to take apart my dash! Comes through when the car heats up/ or i turn on heater.

I recently had a turbo installed, everything went well, car runs very smooth considering having just upgraded the turbo. However, I keep noticing a strong smell coming from the engine bay. Kind of like a gas like smell or some chemical. At first I thought it was the loctite we used to put the gaskets in place burning off or the coating of the turbo but it has been a week and it still smells. I do not have a check engine light, my vacuum is right on the money, I am boosting fine, and my temperature gauge hasnt moved. What could this be? exhaust leak maybe?

For the life of me I can't figure out what is causing this smell. Its got a little over 65k miles and for whatever reason when I'm driving at a steady 70-75mph on the highway I get this garbage like smell that can last between 2-6 sec or so with or without the a/c on. It appears to have no effect on the car though. I'm not overheating, I'm not losing any power from the motor, my clutch is still very smooth and no signs of slipping, my idle is solid as a rock, and I can't find any fluids leaking at all. It does seem to happen more frequently as the outside temperature increases and it is a very potent smell. I just can't find the source. It has only happened while I'm on the highway and have had absolutely zero luck finding that same smell when I've got it parked with the hood up.

This is my second vw I've owned and now I own a 20th ae gti. Just the other day I got out of my car and smelled antifreeze. So I popped the hood and realized there was no coolant in the reservoir.. So I went to my dealership, put some in... well that obviously isn't my problem, because the next day it was gone. Again. This is on sunday so I can't do anything about it. I made an appt to drop it off tonight @ my volkswagen dealer. It's not leaking, not smoking or burning, and the temp gauge isn't moving at all.

Well I recently ran into a good deal on a 04 Jetta GLI 1.8T with 75K and am debating making the deal final. I been driving it since yesterday and everything feels great, however, I noticed a small leak today. I touched the spot and it was a golden color and had no smell.

I've got a 2007 with Nav and was thinking of replacing the head unit with an Alpine INE-W940 or something similar/better. I spoke to Crutchfield, and they told me that this install would make my MFD unusable, and I'd have a blank screen. I am not certain if the tech meant that it would be useless for navigation or radio/cd control, but still function for other uses like battery monitoring and consumption.
Even assuming that it would still function for car information, etc., I was wondering, using perhaps Lockpick 3 to mirror the display of an aftermarket head unit/nav system to the MFD. I'm thinking this would be a really useful hack.

I want a 20th AE & have seen pics that say ESP on a button next to the hazard & others say ASR. I know that their was one option for the car: ESP. So what's ASR? Is one better than the other? Is it the same? I've heard that the ESP sucks for autocross. Is this true?

I was driving at about 60mph in 4th gear and knocked it into 2nd and the rpm's hit the max and the car shut off and I have not been able to get it started. I have compression, fuel, and spark . Driving home from work, I was about 5 minutes from home, got to a light only to not be able to go into 1st. I popped it into 2nd and drove home like that pretty much. Car will let me get into reverse and all other gears.
I can put the shifter towards first but it doesn't fully go in and when I gave it gas it would let me start to creep and then grind a little and pop out.

I was following the directions on the APR site to remove the ECU and it seems to not make sense. Saying the ECU is on the passenger side underneath the molding....
