Prius (2010-12) :: How To Defeat Panic Button On Smart Key Remote
Any way to defeat the stupid panic button on the remote? In the past I have poured glue into them, Popped the red thing out, etc , but this is a lease and I might well turn it in in a few years and do not want to physically modify the smart key, but twice in the last week it has falsely triggered by getting pressed by the other keys on my keychain as I sat in the house. This must be a common problem, since I had to defeat the same button on 2 other cars I had. I am wondering if there is a software fix to have the receiver in the car ignore the panic mode.

I was inside the house. The fob was in the next room. The horn turned on as if I had hit the panic button of the fob.
It turned off when I went over to the fob and hit lock.
Why is the panic button activating itself when I'm nowhere near it?

The little red panic button cover on one of my key FOBS turned up missing yesterday. How or where it popped off, but if it was inside the car, I may have vacuumed it up at the car wash. The panic button itself still works by pressing it with a fingernail, but would really like to find a replacement for that little red button cover.

the problem is, i was listening to music in my prius 05 setting the equalizer. After i got my work done, i pulled the key and closed the door. when i was pressing the lock button in my remote key, it wasnt working. Then i went inside my car and even the locks and other things werent working.. nothing was working eventually.

How to disable DRL-
1) Find the little black box to the right of the battery.
2) Remove cover
3) Pull the smaller of the 3 middle Relay/fuse out.
Actually if the engine was on, it would feel hot to touch, because the resister is taking some of the load from the DRL. The other two Relays are for the coolant fans + Brake.

I have two Remote car keys for Toyota Camry 2012 vehicle. I lost one of them. I am worried if someone has that key and they can steal my car without breaking. FYI, I used to park in the Railway station where the parking is not secured.
I am thinking of two ways. One is to disable the lost remote key, so that no one can use it. Second way is to deactivate the remote sensors in the car so that no can lock or unlock the car with the remote. Just lock and unlock it manually.

I have a mechanic that I've always gone to for oil changes, repairs, etc. I just bought a 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid in October 2012, and when I needed the oil changed, my mechanic said the remote needed to be disabled in order to change the oil (something about the car turning on automatically when it hits a certain temperature, I think - not too sure there), but he didn't know how to do this. How to disable the remote/key or if this needs to be done to change the oil/filter? I don't really know much about cars, but I searched the manual to no avail.
Also, probably a dumb question, but I heard somewhere that you don't have to change oil on hybrids as often as non-hybrids (my last car was a Chevy Equinox). Is that true? It seems like my maintenance required light on the hybrid came on after about 3000 or so miles.
Lexus RX 2004-09 :: Can't Find Disable Button Of SVC / VDIM
I can't figure out how to switch off the VSC or VDIM. In my Acura I have a button labeled VSA and it shuts down the traction and stability control. I want to do a burnout or powerslide around a turn. With winter approaching I just want to be able to disable the traction system in case I get stuck.
I remember seeing a TRAC off button somewhere but I can't find it.

2002 Taurus all lights work, turn key and dash lights come on normal, nothing flashing and anti-theft lights and turns off. Turn to start and nothing. Used to start w/remote starter but that quit working as well. I replaced the starter and battery and car still wont start with the key, but does start with remote.

How to disable the "I AGREE" button that appears every time the car is started? I have seen other posts that refer to this issue on other non GX models, and take about putting the system in "simple mode" by pressing the SCAN button eight times, then the REPEAT or another button after that. I have tried this on my 2006 GX but with no luck. After I put the audio system into CD playing mode, I press the SCAN button repeatedly and quickly but all it does is scan the audio tracks.
The only other thing I know about my GX is that it is still on its original nav software, and is scheduled to receive the update which my Lexus dealer says is coming out in October. Not sure if this affects its ability to bypass the "I AGREE" screen, or if the software update will affect it either.

Prius (Gen 3) :: Using Remote AC Button To Warm Up The Vehicle?
this is my third hybrid (Camry hybrid and RX 400).
I have a '11 Prius IV with solar panel and remote AC button on my fob. Not much good information on this in the manual. I'd like to use the remote AC button (assuming a charged battery) to begin the interior warmup and defrost process on cold mornings.
However, it seems that when I hold the remote button on the fob as instructed in the guide, it turns everything on in the car for a brief moment (5 seconds or less) as opposed to a full 3 minutes as the manual describes. Again, the battery is at least 3/4 to a full charge and the process begins when I hold down remote start, but it just turns everything of after a brief period.
