Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 1997 Truck Won't Shift Past 2nd Gear Top Speed 35 Mph
Ok so I went mudding this past week, and I put my 997 7.3 truck in 4x4 had fun then took it out of 4 wheel now it won't shift past 2nd gear top speed 35 mph.... It still has all the power revs up Rpms fine but it won't go faster then that.

Yesterday I punched it and seemed the truck was a bit doggy at higher rpm, the cel blinked but no codes, drove it all day today and it still seemed "not normal" I punched it and it wouldn't go past 3000 rpm and its so doggy it barely moves got a code po141 engine seems like its super lean? This happened on my way home luckily about a mile from my home.

Just about every trip i take my temp gauge pegs and dinger goes off and check gauges lights up in the message center. If it is, where is the gauge sensor located?

I have a 2000 f250 5.6 v8 with around 104k miles. yesterday I noticed the oil gauge drop to zero and the light came on. then, it went back up to normal. after a few minutes it did it again. I parked in the driveway and checked the oil. it was gone! dipstick was dry. there are no leaks as far as I can tell and it hasn't been burning oil. it was running fine and I was surprised to even see the dash light come on. What could be the cause of this?

Everything was working fine, getting down to about 1/4 tank. I do the usual, fill up, startup, reset the trip, and look at my level and it hasn't changed, neither has the 'km until E'. What would cause this? Failed Sender? No check engine light (yet). I guess I'll be watching the trip meter for a while.

I was driving home the other day when all of a sudden all of my electronics in my truck turned off. Turned out when I got home my battery terminal was loose so it ended up shorting out. (fixed that) but when that happened my fuel was just under half way. The next day I filled up and was pulling a 3,000 pound trailer. My gas gauge didn't move at all, all weekend it was stuck at full until I actually went over a bump and it started moving down to a quarter. I knew here was no way I could go all weekend pulling a trailer and only lose a quarter of gas so I filled up again and was only be able to fill up 14 gallons.

2002 F-250 SD XLT V10
While rummaging in my garage a couple of days ago I stumbled upon a vintage Stewart Warner mechanical vacuum gauge. I would like to install it on my truck.
My question is: Where is a a good connection point for the vacuum line? Detailed direction/photo preferred as I am both Ford and V10 engine challenged.
Same question with respect to following gauges:

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Fuel Gauge Stuck On Full
2000 v10 f350 single tank...fuel gauge is stuck on full. I'm on the road so I don't have my drawings so I tried some quick troubleshooting. If I remember right 160k or so is full and 20k ohms is empty...so I unplugged the sender from the harness which should be open and the gauge should read empty. With key on its reading full. I then followed the harness and unplugged it near the brake booster...key on it reads full. Just wanted to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong before I rip the dash apart.
View 6 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: No Gauge Reading After Changing Sensor?
So, recently acquired my grandpa's "old" 2000 F250 with the 5.4. I am a pretty mechanical guy, not a mechanic, but not dumb and change my own parts for a lot of stuff. Anyways, when I got the truck, I noticed it didn't like to get warm, or so the gauge said. It would go a little above cold, but you could tell, not a normal reading. I did a coolant flush because the system desperately needed it, changed the tstat, and a few days later, changed the Coolant Temperature sensor.
I pulled the old one out, it was covered in amazing crud from many years of being in there. Slapped the new one in, nothing. Doesn't register on the gauge at all, in fact the gauge acts like it is a dead gauge. I thought it might be the sensor, so I popped the hood again and found I had managed to break the plastic plug on the sensor. Figured that was probably the issue and went and got another. Same result. Checked the connection, it is in there snug. Didn't reset the PCM when I changed the sensor and some vehicles can be finnicky about that.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F250 V10 - Fuel Gauge Not Working
1999 F250 V10 gas. I changed out the fuel pump, and now the gauge doesn't work. Checked all fuses - they're good. Is there any possibility that I could have accidentally pinned the float under the pickup sock, or got it hung somewhere? Is this a common occurrence? Don't really want to drop the tank again - but looks like I will have to in order to check/fix.....
View 3 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Fuel Gauge Stuck Over Full
I have a 2000 ford F 250 with V-10 engine with fuel gauge stuck. The problem started in the winter a couple years back on a cold night when I fueled the truck with it running. The fuel gauge never went down. I assume this would indicate a stuck float? I dropped the tank and noticed a loose yellow wire. I can't see that the wire was attached anywhere though? A V-10 is not the engine to be guessing with on fuel...
View 1 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Transmission Overheated / Gauge Headed Toward The Red Area
Last week my transmission overheated after I saw the the gauge headed toward the red area I shut it down. After shutting it down, 2 minutes later the "Wrench" warning light came on. I hit "OK" and within 7 minutes the temp. was back in the middle.
This was the situation, My truck is a 2013 F350 4X4 SRW Crew Cab 65,000 miles towing a 15000 lbs. gooseneck trailer on a uphill service road, similar to a fire road. Was into it a mile and half into when a steeper section can and I dropped into "2" still in 2WD. Trans Temp. climbed with minutes and I shut it down. Did not look at exact temps when it happened, remember engine temp gauge in the middle.
Backed the truck down the hill a short distance and unhooked. Trans gauge went down to middle (normal) and was able to continue up the hill 2 more miles no problem, without the trailer. I have towed since around town with same trailer and no problems. Checked the trans fluid and it looks like new, clear red.
Here's sum history, I'm running Mag-Hy Tech Trans pan installed at 45,000 miles with a fluid change at the time of install. Towed plenty of times in between install and date of problem.
Had the truck in for service the previous day before the overheating for Oil Change, brakes, and coolant change. Nothing related to trans.
Wondering if I have a trans cooler issue? Temp Sensor issue? OR this is the way the transmission operates and it just could take the load and conditions???
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Transmission Temp Gauge Always Point To The Middle
I have an 02 F250 V10. Ive always wondered about the transmission gauge. It seems to always point to the middle of the gauge range. This weekend I was pulling my car hauler up and over the Ozark mountains, and when I stopped for fuel I noticed the transmission was vomiting fluid underneath the truck (and on my exhaust creating a nice smoke bomb for everyone around me). The gauge indicated normal temps. It kind of gave me a sick feeling. I have ordered the 6.0 Trans cooler from Rock Auto and a new temperature sending unit. Do the trans temp gauge is supposed to move or is it pretty much useless?

View 5 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2004 - Fuel Gauge Fall To Empty / CEL On?
Ever since January My fuel gauge has been acting up big time. I can have any amount of gas in my tank at any given time and the fuel gauge will fall to empty resulting in the fuel and check engine light coming on. The gauge will then return to its position (it still doesn't read correctly) and the check engine light will stay on. I took it to the ford dealer and they said to replace the entire fuel sending unit assembly. I bought the oem motorcraft fuel sending unit assembly and did it myself. The only problem is, I still have the issue. I'm currently checking fuses and relays, By the way, my truck is a 2004 f250 fx4 5.4
View 2 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: . 2000 F350 - Gauge Cluster Tear Down
I have a 2000 F350. I'm tired of my gauge cluster. No matter what, within a year one of the LEDs has a diode that starts to flicker and flash and makes my gauge cluster dance. I'd like to solder in a series of individual LEDs and do away with the expensive bulbs that always fail. The bulbs I soldered into my HVAC have never given me any issue, so I figured this would be a good fix for that and the awful hotspots.
I have torn down the gauge cluster partially before. when you pull the gauge faces off as a unit (including the various electrical components tied to the back of the gauges), there is a circuit board at the top of the cluster. It has two cables that plug into the main face part that pulls away from the white plastic chassis. Need to successfully unplug the cables in order to separate the gauge assembly from the chassis? I don't like the idea of soldering so close to it while having the chassis part propped up.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2001 F250 - Gas Gauge Stuck On Full
So I just got an 01 f250, 5.4. Really loving this truck so far. Noticed as I was driving my gas gauge is stuck at full. One time it randomly dropped down to about half tank where I think it should be, but it jumped back up to full. Anything to suggest trying? I tried nailing a speed bump to knock the float loose at 30 and I'm not sure if it worked. Gauge goes to E when I shut the truck off, but as soon as I turn it on it jumps up to full. Should I try hitting the tank with a mallet?
View 6 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Fuel Gauge Slow To Respond After Fill Up
Yesterday went to fill up ($4.05 a gallon geezz!) and noticed that after getting back into the cab, the fuel gauge still showed almost empty. So after yelling a few expletives, I looked again and noticed the gauge starting to make it's way up the dial. It took almost 30 min. before it showed almost full. I'm not sure what the problem is, as the gauge seems to still function. I don't drive the truck much as I use it as a tow vehicle. However, I do try and take it for a spin about 3-4 times a month just to exercise it. I was wondering if the fuel has started to gel and that is the reason for the slow fuel gauge response. Should I add a fuel conditioner/cleaner now that I have a full tank?
