Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Whining Noise When Driving At Low Speeds
I have a 2009 F-150 with 5.4L 4x4. Recently I've been hearing a whining noise when I'm driving at low speeds. I don't hear it at startup and if the truck is idling in the driveway the sound goes away after a while. Only while accelerating and turning. I can't tell if it gets worse while turning or not. At first I thought it was an idler pulley, but since it doesn't happen when idling, I am leaning on power steering pump.

2010 F150 XLT 4.6V .... Not too long ago my truck started making this whining/roaring noise when I accelerate. It does not matter what speed I am going from the slowest to the fastest it makes this noise but it does not make it when it is idle or at least it is not loud to the point where I can hear it while inside my truck. I am not sure what this can be I am at about 51,000 miles and have no problems other than the noise besides the fact that to me it seems as if it pulls at times when I drive it but others say they don't feel it pull. So I am not sure what is going on and I do not want to take it to any mechanic I'd rather fix it myself and know what is going on with my vehicle?

2014 crewcab lariat 4x4. Here is the question. This is only when I'm backing
it up and only after putting truck back in drive do I get the steering wheel whine. It sounds as if it is low on fluid. Only last for a seconds or two. Could this be the start of a steering problem or possibly a brake issue? Just throwing this out there.
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Power Steering Stuck Sometimes - Loud Whining Sound For 10 Seconds Or So
I'm having some strange action in the turn where sometimes it "sticks" and also I sometimes get a loud whining sound for 10 seconds or so and I believe it's coming from the power steering but I could be wrong.
I know my ecoboost has an electronic power steering system but that's the extent of my knowledge on it. Does it have a pump anywhere in the system that could be making this whining noise?
124,+++ miles, no real issues, runs like a champ.
Lexus IS 2014+ :: RPM Spike And Back To Normal Within Second When Decelerate
I have a 2015 IS350 FSport. I drive full automatic in Sport+ mode, and I notice whenever I decelerate, the RPM would spike up around 200rpm and back to normal within second. It is consistently when the gears are changing down. Is this normal?

View 3 RepliesLexus IS 2014+ :: IS250 Continuous Whining Noise When Accelerating
Experience such a noise? Seems to happen only when accelerating, but the noise seems to dissipate when you let go of the accelerator pedal.
Best way to describe would be a continuous whining noise.
Impala - Chevrolet :: 2009 - Whining Noise Coming From Under Hood
So I have a 2008 Chevy Impala LS that hasn't given me any real problems. I had some battery troubles recently that were the result of me leaving the parking/security lights on for 10 consecutive hours, but overnight-charged the battery and was good-to-go after that. But it seems like RIGHT after that was when the whining noise started.
It seems to be related to my power-steering system. I know this since the whining seems to pick up with acceleration and turning. However, I checked my power steering fluid and it did not appear to be depleted at all. I did notice, however, that it seems to be a light greenish color...which from doing a google search, I've gotten the impression that it's probably not supposed to be that color.
What exactly is going on here?
Lexus IS 2014+ :: IS350 FSport - Slight Whining And Fluttering Like Noise When Accelerating
Noticed a slight whining, fluttering-like noise when accelerating? Faint but it has an annoying tone. Seems to come from driver side but not sure it can't be heard on passenger.
View 7 RepliesCorolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Whining Noise Coming From Under The Hood When Accelerate
A few weeks ago I started noticing what I would best describe as a whining noise when I accelerate. It's not very high-pitched but definitely noticeable. It seems the more I accelerate, the higher pitched the whine becomes, and I can only hear it when I am accelerating. It is not very loud: if I have the radio or stereo on I can't hear it. I have a 2009 Corolla LE with around 122k miles on it (I drive a lot for work.) A few weeks ago I had the car in for an oil change, and was told that my battery was getting low and will need to be replaced soon, so I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with it. As far as describing the specific location of where it is coming from, the best I can say is that it's coming from somewhere under the hood...I know that's a very vague description, but I can't really pinpoint it to anywhere beyond that.
View 3 RepliesCorolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Strange Whining Noise On Cold Mornings
I've run into a very strange whining noise in the mornings on my 2010 Corolla S.
I've done some diagnosis and the issue only occurs when it gets chilly out (below about 50 degrees). When you go out to the car in the AM with things dead cold and turn the key into the run position before you start it the noise starts up right under the dash on what sounds like the passenger side. I've tried the fan on and off and it doesn't seem to affect it. It does seem to be lasting longer and it really sounds like a bad bearing in a small motor. As the car warms up the noise disappears and doesn't reappear unless it cools down all the way, which usually means it has to sit overnight.
It doesn't seem to affect how the car runs so I'm guessing it's not a primary system, likely something with climate control or AC?
Tiguan :: Low Whistle Noise When Decelerate To Or Cruise Between 20 - 30 Mph
So my 2016 S 4-Motion is coming up on 2400 miles. A little while back, I noticed that sometimes when I decelerate to or cruise btw 20-30mph there is an odd low whistling sound. But of course, not always. I haven't been able to identify any common factors other than the speed. It is the kind of sound you get from blowing over a bottle (for any musical types, it's a middle-C# regardless of speed), so I thought maybe it could be from some kind of gap where the roof rails are mounted because it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side roof. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
View 4 RepliesToyota - Yaris :: 2009 - High Pitched Whining Noise Getting Louder With Accelerator
I have a 2009 Toyota Yaris with 35,000 miles, and fully up-to-date with all the 5,000-mile usual maintenance checks [no prior problems]. Driving on a hot day, I hit Bakersfield and the car started to make a high-pitched whining noise, which got louder with the accelerator and softer when I took my foot off the gas. I thought perhaps the car was overheating and let it rest for a while, and checked the coolant [which was at a normal level]. I finished the drive to LA and stopped by the Toyota dealer who said it must have just been the fan given the hot weather.
The noise went away overnight, but the next day I was driving around town when it was overcast and cool, and even driving locally, the car made the whining noise intermittently, especially loud at low speeds like coasting in a parking lot, and the noise has been getting louder and sounding more pathological--not like a normal engine or fan noise, but like a truly problematic high-pitched straining sound. Sometimes it comes on when I start the car, sometimes restarting the car makes the noise go away for an hour or two.
It sounds almost like an electric razor being whipped around like a numchuck - a hitch pitched whine that is rotating in the engine and speeds up with the accelerator and calms down but doesn't go away at a stoplight. Perhaps I finally ran over my neighbor's annoying kitty. But today's latest Toyota mechanic also couldn't figure it out because the noise didn't start when he turned on the car and didn't restart on his test drive, but only a few hours later after I'd driven the car around town.
Toyota - Corolla :: 2010 LE - Random Rapid Gunfire Noise When Accelerate / Decelerate
I have had my Corolla LE since October 2011, there has been no maintenance issues whatsoever with it, and it has 65K miles on it. Up until September it was a solid, quiet ride, and with the passing two months, what started to be a quiet vibration, has grown louder and louder. At first I thought it was something inside one of my storage compartments rattling, and then I thought it was the blower, only noticing the sound when I turned on the heat. Now, it makes noise when I accelerate, decelerate, at a complete stop (with the car still on). I read another post about it might be the heat shield, and I was convinced previous to reading that that it was something exhaust-related. But, I'm not sure. This noise has gotten louder, isn't consistent with any function of the car, it appears to be random, but the noise is still the same, the quick "drr, drr, drr" noise, truly a rapid gunfire sound.

I have a 2010 Ford F150 Lariat with 111000 miles on it and now I have a ticking noise under acceleration only and after reading some stuff on here that makes me believe that it is the cam phasers. I have about 22,000 miles on the odometer. I bought it as a CPO with 2200 miles on it. Truck is all stock.
I have heard this noise only once before. I will accelerate up to about 45mph, back off to about 30-35 possibly less, then accelerate again. When I do, it downshifts and I hear a lout noise that sounds like a yelp a dog would make if startled.
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Odd Noise On The Passenger Side
I've noticed a noise in my '09 when I first start driving it after being parked at night. I believe it started about a week or two ago. After getting about 50 feet away from the drive way I hear a metallic ping from the passenger side, I'm guessing front. Then nothing else until later in the day when I leave for work. I travel about the same distance from the parking spot and I hear the same noise. Doesn't happen again until the next day. What it could be or how to test to determine the source? I usually engage the emergency brake when I park the truck. I'm going to hold off on doing that for a few days to see if it makes a difference.
View 12 RepliesFord F-150 (2009-2014) :: Strange Noise During Accelerating
This has happened about half a dozen times while accelerating. It sounds sort of like it's between a scratching noise and a rattling noise. It's only happened at highway speeds 50-60 mph while accelerating and will stop when I let off the gas. There have been a few times that i can get it to come back if i step on the throttle again, but will not duplicate every time.
