Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: How To Remove Change Oil Soon Message
I am on top of my oil changes, but this is the first time I have seen the center display flash "change oil soon" and stay on until you hit the OK button. I went through the manual and I cannot find where there is a provision to clear the message. The oil was just changed, has maybe 600 miles on it.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Reset Oil Change Required Message?
I have a 2012 F150 XL. I don't have a message center, just a 2 line LED readout, and there is nothing in the owner's manual about resetting the "oil change required" message.
View 3 RepliesFord F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2010 - Change Oil At 1000 Miles?
I wanted to change oil at 1000 miles on my new 2010 FX4. The dealer said that I should wait till 2500 miles or so because it still has the break in oil in it.
Does he know what he is talking about or should I change it? He did say he would change it and take my money if I really wanted to.
Maybe my thinking is still old school about changing the oil right away with a new engine.
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Low Battery Message In The Display?
Low Battery message in the display when the truck is turned off? Truck is an FX4 Supercrew 5.0 with 4000 miles. No issues with starting or charging, wonder if battery has a bad cell?
View 6 RepliesFord F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2012 XLT - Message Center Not Responding
I had the oil change message up for a few days. Each time I started it I'd just hit reset to make the message disappear. Today I got around to changing the oil and now my "Oil Change Required" will not go away.
I've tried holding the buttons (info, reset and setup) for a while, nothing. I tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, still there.
The cruise control buttons still work. If I open a door, it tells me it's open then returns to oil message. Just can't clear the message.
I should add, it's a 2012 F150 XLT with a 5.0. No sync system.
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Getting Message - Remove Objects From Passenger Seat?
I continue to get that message whenever about anything is on the passenger seat. Today there was only a wrapper and an empty cardboard box from an oil filter. Together I doubt they weighed more than a few ounces. I normally just clear the message a few times to get it to go away...but today it triggered a seat belt alarm. Is there a way to change the amount of weight that it takes to trigger this message...or is it due to something else?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Oil Change Soon Warning And Oil Change Required Message
Circumstances required me to make an emergency trip to Phoenix this week. On the way down, I first got the "Oil change soon" warning, followed by the "Oil change required" message a few hundred miles later.
I religiously keep my truck serviced on time, and have never had either of these warnings come up before. My truck had 2700 miles on it since last service was done when this first warning came up. My truck gets very little idle time, so it's not sitting idling for hours a day.
My question is, is this oil change message a result of an actual oil monitoring sensor that measures oil quality on-the-fly, or is it strictly based on a miles or odometer timer that gets reset when dealer changes the oil?
At this point I'm wondering if the kid that serviced my truck either forgot to reset a timer, or worse, just "pencil whipped" my oil change. I have to call my home dealer back, since the service manager wasn't in yet when I called.
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Cannot Get The Filter Off To Change The Oil
My wife purchased a new F150 4x4 in late 09. We have driven it about 5000 miles. It is garaged year around. Her brother offered to do the first oil change but can't get the filter off. He has tried every type of wrench and has the metal body of the filter nearly completely torn off up to the rim of the filter near the seat and it still won't screw off. we are thinking that is might have gotten cross threaded at the factory and over tightened.

Opinions ranged from using the Ford on board system, which can let you go
10,000 miles, to "Ma pappy done said ya gotta git that ol' all outta thar every 3000 miles." Needless to say, we didn't reach a consensus.
So here's a different question:
3 owners, Art, Bob, and Charlie each believe in 5000 miles between changes.
Art drives 10,000 miles a year and changes it twice a year. No problem. Right?
Bob drives 5000 miles a year and changes it once a year.
Charlie is gone from home most of the time and only drives his vehicle to the airport, then back a couple weeks later. He does this once a month and it's 100 miles each way. Otherwise the vehicle sits.
So he drives 5000 miles in 2 years. Any problems there?
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2013 - When To Change First Oil And How Often
When should I get the first oil change in our 2013 F150 5.0? We took a 1,000 mile trip right after getting the truck. It's been two weeks and I have put around 1,600 miles on the truck.
Also, how often is everyone getting regular oil changes with the 5.0?
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2013 - First Oil Change?
Took my truck in Friday for my first oil change at the dealer and they put Pennzoil in instead of Motorcraft. One would expect Ford would require their products in their sponsored dealerships. i didn't realize until I was home and placed a phone call to the service manager and have not got a return call.
View 14 RepliesFord F-150 (2009-2014) :: Warning Light Came On Along With A Message To Check Brake System
I have a 2011 F-150 Supercab 4x4 and the brake warning system is starting to drive me nuts. A couple of months ago the warning light came on along with a message to check brake system. I didn't find anything wrong, even flushed the hydraulic system. all seemed OK. Now the warning came back on, the message center will reset and the warning light will reset after shutting off the truck.
I can drive in city/town and the warning does not come on. But if I drive open road for about 30 miles with out using the brakes I get the warning again. I'll reset the message center and it'll clear, then about every 10 miles it chimes and shows to check brake system. It is strange that that I can drive hundred of miles in town using the brakes and not warning but get on the open road and not using the brakes I get the warning after 30 miles.
Prius (2010-12) :: Check Hybrid System Message After Tire Change
I Opened my 2011 Prius trunk to get the tire wrench to take my snow tires off, and install my main tires and rims. When I went to start up the car after it was done, I have a "Check Hybrid System" Message on the MFD. I wondered if I'd hit one of the 2 orange items on the Electric drive battery, that was exposed in the trunk, and I can't get rid of the message. The car is not drivable, the system doesn't read "READY" and the engine doesn't start.

Took 2011 Prius to an oil change service. The "oil change required" message had come on to stay.
Afterward, on the multi-display (I have the smaller, "headsup" display), I see the message, "Settings (Press and hold)". I figured out how to enter the Settings menu, and I have tinkered with every option there-- "Eco", "Steering OFF", etc. But no matter what I do, the "Settings (Press and hold)" message will not go away.
Mercedes-benz - E-class :: 2008 - Resetting Service Message
I just bought a 2008 Mercedes E350 with 92,000 miles. After 2 days of driving a message displays " Service c due in 14 days" .I called local Benz dealer and they said the oil will need changing. The place I bought the car from assured me they had changed the oil prior to putting it up for sale. How do you reset this message on the car. I have looked through the owner manual and not found anything about this.

I have the normally aspirated 3.7 V6. The ownersd manual talks about the trucks computer telling you when the oil changes are needed.....But, at 6500 miles, bnothing has come through. I have not changed the oil yet on it. I feel this is a huge sin, but am not sure.....I was raised you changed the oil every 2-3 grand. But the owners manual on this truck says the computer will tell you when to. Should I just go ahead and change it?

2012 F150 STX 2wd 6spd 100kmi
I just dropped the transmission oil pan and changed the filter. Put a new filter in. 5qt of oil came out, I put 5qt of oil back in. Oil level is right between the A and B hash marks.
I start up the truck and put it in gear and nothing happens. Its like the oil filter dropped and it isnt getting oil. I dont think this is possible because i watched it go in, the oil pan holds it, the seal came out with the old filter and the seal went in with the new one.
Am I missing something here? this oil change went just as well as any other tranny oil change i have done but the thing wont move.
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Oil Level Slightly High After Change
2014 F150 3.5 Ecoboost...
I recently got my oil changed at the dealership and yesterday when I did my periodic oil check, I noticed that the oil level is slightly higher than the "high" mark on the dipstick. Its about 4mm above the high line, maybe 5mm at most. I do not smell gas in the oil, and given that its been about a month since the change, I simply think that slightly too much oil was added.
My question is will a slight overfill like that affect this engine? I'm particularly worried about "frothing" of the oil by the crankshaft. I don't think that oil level is nowhere near to be "pushed" by pistons and affect my seals. Correct me if I'm wrong here. I drive on very flat terrain. So the question to those that have knowledge on how much clearance there is between the crankshaft and oil level in that engine is, do I leave as is or go back to the dealer to adjust. (Reason I ask is because I'm particularly busy with a project at work, and if I don't have to burn time to correct this I would rather not given my busy schedule.)
