Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Multiple Electrical Malfunction - No Start Occasionally Then Jump Start?
My F150 4X4 would not start a few days ago, after only having turned it off a few minutes prior. The gauges would sweep wildly and get stuck at various positions. I checked the fuses and they were fine, then unplugged the battery for a bit and it started back up. Occasionally it won't start and i'll have to disconnect the battery again to get it to start.
I'm still having some strange electrical issues though. The radio no longer turns on unless the ignition is turned to AUX. My back up alarm for going in reverse doesn't come on anymore. The gauges take at least 10 seconds to wake up after starting the truck. The dashboard blinker indicators will randomly stop blinking or making any noise. I was thinking it could be the computer, but could it be something else?
Lexus RX 2004-09 :: Ignition Switch Stuck / Occasionally Key Would Not Turn To Start
'04 RX330: Starting about a year ago, occasionally when inserting the ignition key it wouldn't turn to start. Take key out try again and it would start. Progressively, it seems to be requiring more and more in/out cycles to get the key to turn. It's like the transponder is not recognizing the key FOB. I have two keys, one is a master and other is a sub key, both have the problem. What has to be done to correct it? I'm afraid the dealer will just change some expensive ignition part when there's an easier fix.

Just went out to start the truck (2006 4.2L) and no start...turns over but isn't firing.
I checked codes and got a P1299. She was stone cold and ran perfectly last night - never overheated.
I suspect ground or other wiring...where should I start?
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2007 Truck Does Not Crank When Turn The Key To Start
I have a 2007 F-150 5.4l that does not crank when you turn the key to start. I have tried jumping the starter over and it does crank after that but it will not start. I am completely stumped by this and I'm not sure what the problem is?
View 2 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Truck Won't Start - No Click Sound When Turn The Key In Ignition Switch?
I'm trying to get friend's 04 F150 4x4 started. I think it might be the ignition switch. Here's what I've done. Turn the Key and nothing happens. Not even a clicking sound from the battery.
-verified the battery had a good charge and that terminals were clean, connections were tight.
-checked the fuses in the passenger side kick panel, none were blown
-Determined there was power to the primary Pos wire going to the starter , but no power being sent to the smaller wire that goes to solenoid at the starter.
-Hooked a jumper wire to the starter solenoid and engine did crank (so starter is good and battery is making good connection)
This is why I'm thinking its the ignition switch.
1) Where is the ignition switch located?
2)How can I test the ignition switch?
3)Could it be the "cylinder lock and keys" that is faulty?
Nissan - Maxima :: Won't Start But Try To Turn Over Occasionally

View 2 RepliesPontiac - G6 :: No Sounds When Turn The Key / Car Occasionally Won't Start
About 1 out of 10 times, the car won't start- turn the key, dashboard, lights and radio turn on, but no sounds. If I wait an hour, it starts. It has a new battery (and we tried jump starting to no avail). It is not weather/temp dependent. Tried different keys, and remote start doesn't work either. Only 20k miles on the car. Is this the starter motor or something?
View 4 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2005 - Rough Shifts Occasionally?
I recently purchased a 2005 f-150 4x4 with 115,000 miles. The truck is in overall great shape but does have a mysterious transmission issue i have been chasing for over a month. The truck runs and drives great aside from a occasional rough shift. The overdrive light flashes and the monitor displays "trans fault". I have had the truck to a few different mechanics including the local Ford dealership. It pulls p0702. The truck will manually shift into 4x4 but it will not engage by using the switch. I have replaced: Trans wiring harness, checked all fuses, dropped pan and replaced all wires, nuetral safety switch and a few other misc. parts.

My '06 Ford F-150, 4.6 V8 is smoking when I start it up occasionally. The smoke color is blue. The only mod is flowmaster exhaust. Bad injector, sticking valve......
Where would you start? I am all for supporting a local mechanic but financially I do not have the money to gamble. Once I can pinpoint the problem I will take it to them to fix.
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Turn Signals And Hazard Lights Quit Working / Blown Fuse Now Truck Won't Start
My 2007 F150's turn signals and hazard lights quit working. I checked the fuse and it was blown. Once I pulled the old fuse out the truck wouldn't start at all. What happened?
View 3 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: RPM Drop - Engine Will Stall When Stopping At A Light Occasionally
I recently bought a 2006 STX with the 4.6 engine. Occassionally, when stopping at a light, the engine will stall. I took it to the dealer where I bought it and he put it on the computer and found that once on a test drive the RPM's dropped to 490, but it did not stall. He said everything checked out fine and thought it might be a carbon build up, since the truck only has 27,000 miles on it and was driven only around town. He suggested a couple of tanks of higher octane fuel and a fuel additive to remove the carbon.

View 1 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Steering Wheel Occasionally Clicks When Turning - Bad Bearing?
I have a 2004 F150 SCrew 4x4 with the 4.6 (260K)... My steering wheel occasionally 'clicks' when turning - It sounds and feels like a bearing is bad in the steering column.
When it happens, it feels like one in the bearing is binding- the steering wheel slightly binds, then there's a 'pop' like the ball snapped back into place. This only happens occasionally. Sometimes it will pop with every revolution of the steering wheel, other times not at all.
Originally, I thought it was a U-joint, but it seems like the noise is coming from the bottom of the column...
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Slight Miss / Hesitation - Power Loss When Driving Constant At 25 - 30 MPH Occasionally
Had this truck a few years now, and it has always had a slight miss/hesitation and maybe a few codes. The timing chain skipped a tooth and the truck was down for about a year. I have 4 other trucks, so it wasn't a big deal. I finally had time to put a new oil pump, chains, guides, tensioners, phasers etc. The truck actually runs very well and quiet. But, now misses far more than I remember it doing.
When driving in town constant at 25-30 mph occasionally it will loose power for a brief moment(<1 second) and then be fine, the security light on the dash turns on for a few seconds. It drives at 55-65 just fine, unless I am going up a hill or something else increasing the load.

CEL-
P0453 (fuel tank pressure issue)
P0351 (ignition coil a primary/secondary circuit malfunction)
P0356 (ignition coil f primary/secondary circuit malfunction)
The coil packs are new, and I have injectors on order. Also found this thing on the back of the motor, it connects to the fuel rail on the drivers side. Where it should go. I looked on my other trucks. But my other 04-4wd has a box by the battery it connects to, but mine doesn't have any of that stuff. And my 08 doesn't have anything like this at all.
And a pix of the truck in question.
Volvo - S60 :: 2004 Dies When Turn Left (occasionally)
I have a 2004 Volvo, 98,000, S60. The car has died on my about 3 times, weeks apart, when turning right. My first indication is when I can't steer, I throw on the emergency flashers, put in park, turn ignition and it starts right up and I go on my way. Took to my mechanic and he said he could not replicate. Did test the battery, which was low, bought a new battery, but it did it again today.
View 3 RepliesMazda - Tribute :: 2004 - Occasionally Choked Out When Trying To Start
ES V6 Auto 84,000 miles Five times since the summer of 2010 my 2004 Tribute has left me sit. In each occasion it attempted to start but choked out as though it wasn't getting gas. It will then crank and crank (new battery a year ago), but it just will not turn over. Every time but one, it fired right up on the first attempt the next day. The one time it didn't, it fired up for the tow truck driver on his first attempt after I had tried multiple times before he showed up. It runs perfectly other than this problem. It fires up strong. It runs strong. No hesitation. No misfires.
I changed the Idle Air Control Valve back in January when it died on me, but that wasn't it. Once again, I came back the next morning and it fired right up. I did notice this last time that I didn't hear the fuel pump prime when I turned the key (before turning the key to start). I'm not sure if I noticed that previously. Does this sound like a fuel pump issue given that it only occurs when I go to start it? The dealer and a local garage say the same thing... They would need to keep it until they can duplicate the problem. I don't see this as an option since the problem doesn't happen that often. I've never had it in for diagnostics but I've heard that the codes are deleted once it starts. Is this true?
Passat (B5) :: 2004 V6 Difficult To Start Occasionally - P3081 Error Code
I have a 2004 Passat V6. Couple of weeks ago the check engine light went on. I went to AutoZone and checked. The code read P3081 (low engine temperature). I knew it might be caused by bad coolant temp sensor or T-Stat sensor. I also experienced that the engine would not start occasionally (prior and post the light on).
My question is that whether the low engine temperature can cause the difficulty to start the engine? How can I figure out which sensor is bad?
Prius (2004-09) :: Occasionally Lose Control Of Panel Buttons When Start Up In Hot
My '08 radio has developed an intermittent problem. When I get in my car on a hot afternoon and start it up, occasionally I lose control of the panel buttons - power, station up/down, input select, disk eject, etc. But, all of these controls work just fine on the steering wheel control. If I cool the interior down and then restart the car, everything is back to normal, all buttons work. What this might be? It's only happened twice, but I want to be able to speak intelligently to my service advisor when I report it next visit.
