Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 2000 - Drive Line Vibrating?
t's a '00 extended cab swb 4.6L with 4r70w trans. I have a Hotchkis TVS 2/4 kit on it. It's been lowered 3 years now and I've never had any real issue. But I started noticing a small vibration through the floor so I took my driveshaft out to be balanced and new U joints installed. Ever since then I've had an audible "hum" from the rear whenever I go over 75mph. It only does this under load (hill, etc) and I don't hear anything until then. The driveline shop told me it was my pinion angle and I've tried shims with only slight improvement. I'll replace the driveshaft after I do a motor and trans swap down the line, but it's out of the budget for now.
View 2 RepliesHonda - Cr-v :: Bumpy Ride / Occasionally Starts Vibrating At Moderate Speeds
I have a 2003 Honda CR-V with 150,000 miles that, up til now, has been a dream car. Now, at moderate speeds (30ish) it occasionally starts vibrating like I'm driving on a very washboarded road. It immediately quits if I let up on the gas. I don't notice it at higher speeds (freeway driving) or when going very slowly. It seems to initially be brought on by hitting a bit of rough road. I think it feels like it is in the rear of the car and it seems more noticeable on the right (passenger side). We had new shocks put on the FRONT about 3-4 months ago and I think the problem coincided with that but my husband disagrees and says he noticed it before then. We took it to our usually wonderful and reliable shop and, as could be predicted, they could not get it to replicate the problem. We took it back again and they drained and replaced all the transmission fluid thinking that might be the problem. It still does it, although I think it does it a bit less. It also seems to me that the car, which never had a very smooth ride, is even stiffer and bumpier than before. What's going on? Could this be a drive train issue? Transmission? Should we have also done the rear shocks at the same time as the front?
View 4 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Shake / Vibration At High Speeds
I purchased a 2003 F-150 Screw a few months back. Within a week I noticed a noise that sounded like a bad ujoint. To it to a shop and they confirmed it. They told me they replaced both. I only drive about 4 miles to work around 40 mph. Friday I had to go out of town and this was the trucks 1st road trip. I noticed that around 55 the truck feels fine. At 65 there is a shake / vibration. At 75 it is very noticeable. At 1st I though front end, but after a few hour I noticed the feeling can be felt in the seat of my pants type of thing. Or my foot on the kicker panel. Truck has 27K on it.
View 4 RepliesHonda - Pilot :: Vibrating In Steering Wheel Particularly At High Speeds
I am feeling a vibrating in the steering wheel in my SUV, particularly at high speeds (the highway). I just had front brakes replaced a month or so ago. But the tires I have were new a year and a half ago, I think. Is the vibrating a tell tale sign that I need new tires? Or is it something else? Could I rotate them and get more miles out of them?
View 5 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 2000 - Starts Intermittently / Dash Gauges Spike To Max Levels For A Second Then Normal
Dad's 2000 F150 5.4 ltr will start intermittently, when it does fire it runs fine, but right after start up all the dash gauges "spike" to the max levels for a sec and then go back down to normal....
Put the Cen-Tec 98614 code reader on and it continues to say "Link error" and I can't communicate to the interface. P.S., I confirmed the Code reader is good by pulling a 420 O2 sensor code from my Toyota in just a few seconds....
I can hear the fuel pump kick in so I doubt that is the culprit. Because of the gauge spike at start up (every time) this problem screams grounding problem, but I don't know where to start. Could it be a faulty relay?
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 2000 - High Idle With Codes
I will try to keep this short. Picked up a 2000 f-150 4.2 for my nephews first truck last night. Bought it blind against my better judgement, but the price was right. Got it home, odometer didn't work, fixed the solder joint and was happy it only had 132k on it. Heater core was plugged solid. Got it flushed and at least now its has luke warm heat until I have time for a full coolant flush and new core.
Next on my list is the high idle and engine lights. Its idles around 1300-1700, cold or hot sometimes it drops down. I only have a cheap scanner, but I have 2 codes. PO171 and PO174. Where should I start with diagnosing this? I would assume vacuum leak. Any common spots to check on these?
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 2000 F250 - AC Fan Only Works On High
I got a 2000 F250 XLT that the AC fan only works on high. Same thing in heat mode. Is there a relay for the other speeds that I need to check out?
View 2 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Vibrating More Than Usual Using 4x4?
I was pulling out of my driveway (it's quite steep) in 4x4, turned onto the road and heard a clunk.
I then took it out of 4x4 and continued on. I noticed it was vibrating more than usual. I turned out of a friends driveway (not in 4x4) after that and thought I heard another clunk. The vibrations seemed to get a lot worse after that.
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Knocking And Vibrating - Gas / Throttle Pedal Noise
2001 F-150 4.2L automatic, 189k mikes. Gas pedal would do weird knocking/vibrating. It would do it at idle & under acceleration. Gas pedal would knock & sometimes slightly move or kick back at you. Felt like someone was lightly hitting it with a small hammer. Well there is not much to the gas pedal assembly; pedal, throttle cable & mounting bolts/plate. Looking under hood, a bracket from drivers side of motor was pushing back against firewall, which was pushing into gas pedal mounting bolts. I grabbed the bracket & it came off motor. Nothing else attached to bracket. Looks like it rusted off and was pinned between motor & firewall. Well, this fixed the gas pedal problems. But now i wonder what the bracket is & whats it suppose to hold??
View 3 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Vibrating / Loud Noise When Accelerate / RPMs Jumping Around
I have been having some major issues with my truck!
The whole truck is vibrating when on. When I accelerate I hear a loud noise like something is hitting a fan. I'm scared to even drive it. The rpm's have been jumping around.
What could be causing this? I already replaces Fuel filters.
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2000 - Rough Shaking And Vibrating Start For About 5 Minutes?
I have a 2000 4x4 Limited 7.3 Powerstroke. 290k miles and runs like a top. However, if I don't plug it in for a few hours before starting she sounds like an old John Deere Poppin' Johnny. I had the glow plugs replaced yet had to go back to the repair shop three times since because it threw a code each time. No codes now just rough shaking and vibrating start for about 5min (without plugging in block heater) or so then once warmed up she runs great.

View 3 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2000 Shakes A Bit At High Speeds / Oil Leak
I just got a 2000 1.8T Manual Passat last year. had about 98,000K miles on it when i got it. Engine light came on this year and now it has about 132,000K miles on it. time for a tuneup. what should I replace or do to it. Leaks oil a little from up under the engine somewhere, and the car shakes a bit at high speeds (120Miles/h). engine up front is kind of loud, sounds like air is leaking out up front somewhere when its running. I figured I could replace the air filter,valve cover, spark plugs, pcv valve, fuel filter, oil filter and change oil, and a good engine greasing. what else should I do? what else could I do. what else should i really do, I love the car, second one i have had of that year. first one was a automatic and the tranny went out.
View 4 RepliesTouareg :: 2000 Air Suspension - Auto Lowering At High Speeds?
I just did a 2000 mile round trip in my treg...what an awesome highway vehicle. The air suspension is supposed to lower at speeds over 76 mph I believe. I was running at 85 to 90 most of the time. Any indication of the lowering in the display? I really couldn't tell if it was happening or not. Does it lower in all suspension modes, i.e comfort, auto etc? It didn't seem to raise upon slowing.
View 15 RepliesAccent LC (2000-05) :: High Pitched Squeaking Under The Car At Very Slow Speeds
I drive a 2002 4-dr 1.6 L Accent and there is a strange, high-pitched squeaking that comes about from somewhere under the car at very slow speeds (30 mph or below). If I hit the brakes, the noise continues sometimes as the car slows. (The noise isn't the brakes, though, I know that), but if I hit the gas pedal slowly, the noise stops. Whatever is vibrating underneath doesn't seem to be causing a problem at high speeds. Or I just can't hear it.
Secondly, I am going to try to do some tune-ups for the summer for lack of better things to do, mostly, I can pretty much do anything (intake/exhaust, engine, electrical) as long as I can find detailed instructions.
Volvo - V40 :: 2000 - Starts But Dies Unless High RPM / Stalls Out If Idle Slows
I'm struggling with an intermittent (of course) issue where, esp. if cold, I can't start my car unless I give it lots of gas. If I take my foot off the gas at all, it will stall, which means I drive this automatic two-footed (one foot on brake, one on gas) , giving it lots of gas at all times, including when stopped. After about 10 minutes it is fine, and is then good for the rest of the day. My trusted Volvo-spscific repair shop has tried replacing booster pressure sensor, fuel pressure regulator (both indicated by engine codes) and new plugs. The end result is I've got $500 into the car that does seem to run better when it starts, but the original issue is unsolved. I was thinking something is sticking with a cold start, or idle speed is incorrect, but can't figure it out. Seems like it should be an easy fix.

I have a 2010 F150 XLT crew cab, and I'm the second owner. Ever since I have owned the truck, it has had a pretty bad shake/vibration at highway speeds, that gets worse with higher speed. I have checked the alignment multiple times, rotated tires, had them re-balanced, and I still cannot figure out what is causing this. What else should I be checking?

So, I don't use my F150 too much and an animal made a nest int the intake tract and the nest material (chewed up air filter) got sucked in the throttle body all the way to IAC valve. So I thought I cleaned everything out, even got a new IAC. It starts now but just dies. I didn't remove the throttle body, should I? Where else do you think I could I find this stuff?
View 11 RepliesDakota :: 2000 4.7L V8 Overheating In Idle / On Highway At High Speeds And While Driving Slow
I drive a 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport w/ 4.7L V8 engine. I have been dealing with an overheating problem for about 6 months now and have nearly exhausted all hope of correcting the issue. It has been in the shop on 4 separate occasions and seen 2 different mechanics. The radiator has been replaced, the thermostat and thermostat housing have been replaced, the radiator fan works properly, hoses have been replaced and no subsequent leak has been found by either mechanic, they haven't mentioned the possibility of a blown Head Gasket (nor has the typical "milky residue," shown up in my oil cap). Each time I got it back from the shop the problem was fixed for about two weeks, then returned and slowly got worse.
It overheats in idle (with the fan running), on the highway at high speeds, and while driving slow. Sometimes it only gets about 3/4th to the red (usually when its cool at night) and sometimes it will hover just below the red; while I'm doing everything I can to keep it from hitting red (defrost on, revving engine). Some days it takes a little while to get hot and some days it happens very quickly. I'm tired of sinking money into the vehicle but as a recent grad I don't have the money for a new truck at this point. Suggestions included heater core clogged, water pump gone bad, fan clutch.
