Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Wiper Rear Windshield Sprayer Would Work Intermittently

Weird issue on my MK4 GTI. So it started out just as the rear windshield sprayer would work intermittently. Then the same happened to the front one. Then sometimes the rear windshield wiper would just come on by itself when hitting bumps on the highway. Now sometimes the front windshield wipers won't work, the rear doesn't work at all, and neither sprayers work.

So, where's best to start? I figured maybe the toggle switch is worn out. I haven't looked to see how hard it is to get out/test. I assume there's some linkage or wires I can get to once I remove the trim under the steering wheel to do a simple continuity test and see if the switch is working. Or would relays cause this? I wouldn't think that many relays could fail this quickly while running at normal voltages...

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: After Wiper Motor Replacement Some Electrical System Won't Work?

I just replaced my Wiper motor last week and noticed something strange. For the last year or so when I turn on the key to start the truck, once in a while my radio, gauges, and other electricals such as windows wouldn't work for a bit, anywhere from a couple seconds to maybe as much as a couple minutes. Since my wiper motor was on the fritz, I pulled the fuse and the radio,gauges,ect. wouldn't work until the WTS light went out, then everything worked just fine, even after I started the truck and the glow plugs come back on.Since I replaced the motor everything works as soon as i turn the key. Coincidence? Or could one of the internal relays on the motor being stuck cause that?

Ford - Explorer :: 2003 XLS - Both Rear Door Windows Don't Work

Just purchased my first Explorer. It's a 2003 Explorer XLS. Only problem with it is that both rear door Windows don't work. The dealership where I purchased the vehicle immediately threw a new drivers side door switch in it to no avail. Now they want to throw two new window regulators in it. Before they do that though I am going to do some checking to see if they are getting power. Both front Windows work just fine.

Ford - Explorer :: 2003 - Left Rear Turn Signal Brake Light Will Not Work

My wife's 2003 sportrac has developed a problem. The left rear turn signal brake light will not work. The tail light does. When you turn on the left turn signal the front bulb and the dash light flashes real fast. I have changed both, the front and rear bulbs with no luck. I've read on here about the tilt steering column deal. I have moved the steering column while operating the turn signal with no change.

Ford - Explorer :: 1999 - 4x4 Low And OD Lights Don't Work

My '99 Explorer has the 4.0 OHV. It has 95,000 miles. Recently, I noticed the 4x4 Low light and the OD light don't work. I doubt these are related, but it's odd that they both quit working at similar times. When I turn the 4x4 selector switch to 4x4 High, it works and the light comes on. When I push the OD button on the gearshift lever, nothing happens.

Ford - Explorer :: 2002 XLT - Front Wiper Failure

My 2002 Explorer XLT recently experienced a front wiper failure. Initial indications started a few months ago. When trying to turn the wipers on to the intermittent position, nothing would happen. Turning the switch to low or hi then back to intermittent would allow the intermittent to work OK. Issue seemed to be occasional (trying not to overuse intermittent).

A couple days ago, daughter takes off to meet pals, comes back saying wipers died completely, won't move, won't park, no response to any switch position. I checked it out and researched some of the relevant threads here. My findings thus far:

Front wiper int/lo/hi positions do not work
Front washer pump works fine
Rear wiper switch positions all work fine
High beam, low beam and flash-to-pass work fine
Left and right turn signals work fine.

I am figuring the MFS is probably not the problem.

Looking in the owners manual it seems that fuse #8 protects front and rear wash pump relays and front wiper motor relay. Since front and rear wash pumps actuate fine, I figure fuse #8 is OK and the pump relays (#4 & #6) are OK.

Fuse #20 protects the GEM and Memory Module. Since I am not experiencing any issues with dash lights, idiot lights, chimes, locks or other GEM associated items, I am guessing fuse #20 is OK and the GEM is OK.

This leads me to relays 54 (run/park) and 59 (hi/lo). Since the wipers will not run or park, I am guessing that the run/park relay is having an issue. I presume that the intermittent function is cotrolled by the GEM based on the Intermittent switch position

Am I missing anything or overlooking some complexity that should change my logic? Is it likely for the MFS to fail only the front wiper portion of the controls?

Ford - Explorer :: 2001 - Wiper Only Works With Washer Cycle

My son just got a 2001 Explorer Sport. Among the minor issues that need taken care of is an interesting situation with the wipers. The wipers only function when you press the wash button. It operates fine with wash, it parks fine after wash cycle. However, I get no response from any settings in the normal wiper switch. Where to start looking? Bad connector? Switch? It does have a tilt wheel, wire pulled out of connector?

Ford - Explorer :: 2000 - Front Wiper Washer Fluid Not Working

So my wife and I swap vehicles for one day and what happens? It snows like hell and she can't get any wiper fluid to come out!

I started some troubleshooting and missed some clear indicators of the problem.

->Rear fluid works
->No pump engagement when trying the front fluid

Wasn't sure if I had 1 or 2 pumps (separate front and back or just one) so I bought one, tore out the reservoir (that air intake was a tough one), swapped the pumps and PRESTO! Still didn't work.

This leads me to believe I should have realized it was switch/power related all along. I don't mind tearing things apart, but I'm not good with electrical. Should I just buy a new whole stock and see if that works? My fuse isn't blown and seems to also be for the power windows, which do work, so I think I should be fine from that point.

Ford - Explorer :: 1999 V8 - Rear End Going Out - Interchange?

I have a 1999 Ford Explorer AWD with a 5.0 L V-8. My rear end is going out. Will a rear end out of a 1997 or 1998 Ford Explorer AWD be a correct interchange? How about out of a 2000 Explorer AWD? Does it matter if the rear end comes from a 6 cyl or 8 cyl Explorer? Forgot to mention that my Explorer has Air-Ride suspension. Does that make a difference? Where can I find my axle ratio to make sure the swap is going to be OK? What steps I need to take to make sure I am doing the swap correctly...

Ford - Explorer :: 1999 - Whining From The Rear End

I have a 1999 Explorer that i bought about a year ago. It has a whining noise a friend of mine told me is coming from the rear end. With my hearing I can't tell. It starts out around 15-20 mph and gets higher as I go faster. I checked the lube in the differential and its good. No leaks and fluid looks good. The noise goes away when I take my foot of the accelerator. If I put the truck in neutral, it also goes away. I haven't changed the trans fluid & filter yet.

Ford - Explorer :: 1999 4WD - Where Does The Rear Axle Brake Line Go

I am replacing the rear steel brake lines and I have a bit of a mystery...when the lines come off the wheels, I see them going over the pineapple and it LOOKS like it's just coming down the other side into the other wheel. That should be impossible, right? How would it go about getting brake fluid into the system?

I can't see on top of the pineapple, so I don't exactly know whats going on up there. I don't see any hydraulic hose coming from the top of the pineapple. I'm currently clueless as to how the rear brake lines fit together.

Golf/GTI VI :: Passenger Side Wiper Doesn't Work At All

I just picked up my new GTI a couple weeks ago and today is the first time using the wipers. The passenger side wiper doesn't work at all. I took a look at it and the wiper is different from the driver side. The wiper itself is cheap plastic with holes every inch. The connector to the wiper arm is purple. Could this be a "temporary" wiper that was installed during shipment and the dealer forgot to switch out?
