Ford Excursion :: Engine Knocks Badly / Revs Erratically And All Gauges Not Working
The other day I bought an sct tuner for my excursion and its been a little glitchy, likes to freeze up and lock out my ecu.
I was driving yesterday and today I try to turn it on and my engine knocks badly revs erratically and all gauges weren't working so i shut it off. I tried to start up again and it flashes the theft light and abs light. Won't crank won't do anything my whole engine is locked out.
So i tried reverting the ecu back to stock. I did this several times once it simply lost power and shut off at the end another time it said wrong vehicle and the final time it said completed.
Now when i try to start up it does the same thing and will not do anything but flash lights at me... When I downloaded the file it said select vehicle: 6.0 superduty. That was the only choice, and the guy at the store said that the truck tuner will work in my excursion I specifically asked if this works in the ex.
I really need my truck otherwise I will he paying hundreds in taxi fare. I tried calling the store and sct but both are closed on weekends.
Ford Excursion :: 2002 V10 Missing Badly While Parked In Heavy Rain
Last night and this morning we had flooding rains here and the excursion was sitting outside in it.
Later this afternoon, I went to pull it up a little to get a motorcycle ouut of the garage, and it started, but very roughly. Check engine light on, would idle at times, and sometimes would die on its own or when I put it in drive. The OD light on the gear shift was also flashing.
Didn't see any pools of water in the engine compartment, around the firewall or anything that would show water had gotten into some electrical areas of the truck.
My OBD reader isn't reading the diagnostics plug for some reason, im gonna go buy one here in a minute.
Plugs, boots, COPS?....why the hell the OD light flashing when in park? Start removing, inspecting, replacing or tow it to the dealer?

Ford - Explorer :: 2005 - Jerks Badly While Driving
Okay, I have a 2005 Ford Explorer with roughly 160K miles which has done me good for about 6 years now, but over the last several months I have had little things go wrong here and there.
I am a mechanic by no means, but can tinker with "minor" projects when the needs arises. I change my own oil, put in a new alternator, changed the idler pulley, put on a new belt, and put new rotors, pads, and calipers with friend.
Two days ago as I was driving home after dropping my daughter off at a friends; as I was going about 55mph my Explorer jerked really hard and the RPM's dropped (almost like it shut off); then the RPM's shot back up and it was fine for about another quarter of a model. My Explorer jerked again; only this time dash lights flickered, RPM's dropped slowly, and I received two indicator lights on the dash (SERVICE ENGINE & A WRENCH). The dash also displayed a message "Engine Fail Safe Mode;" I had no throttle response and as I pulled over and came to a stop the engine died.
When I tried to restart the Explorer I kept getting the same display on the dash, but this time it was displaying "Engine Fail Safe Mode - Low Oil Pressure." I was lucky enough to have a Kentucky State Trooper get me off the road and I left her in the parking lot of a gas station about a 1.5 miles away from my house. I have a friend who was going to move it to a garage yesterday and when we went to pick it up I decided to try and see if she would start. When I cranked her up she started and then died; I tried this two more times and on attempt number three she stayed running (with no indicator lights).
Prius (Gen 3) :: 2012 Made Loud Bang And Stutter While Driving When Hit Pothole
While driving on a flat road last night my prius felt like it hit something - the car looks fine and no warning lights came. It felt like I hit a massive pothole and then nothing.
View 16 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Engine Made A Tapping Sound For Few Seconds Then Shut Off After Loud Pop
The EMS service in the county next to ours lost one of it's new trucks for a few days on Tuesday. While going on a call, the engine made a tapping sound for only a few seconds, then a loud pop and shut off. Ford dealer went and picked it up and took it in for evaluation. VERDICT: Broken rod and cracked block. I have to say, this is the first I've heard of a 6.7L having a problem like this in our area.
Ford was really interested in this engine, as a new one is already on the way and the old one is to be shipped back for complete breakdown. So far, the Director and County Manager have been impressed with Ford's response to this problem. Dealer has told them the truck should be ready by the middle to end of next week. If I hear anything else, I will let you know. Any engine can break at any time, I'm just glad they are moving quickly to rectify the situation.
Pontiac - Bonneville :: 2000 Won't Start - Engine Made No Attempt To Turn Over At All
I was surprised this morning by my 2000 Pontiac Bonneville not starting. All the other devices and systems activated but the engine made no attempt to turn over at all. It's a rebuilt title but the car has shown no signs of difficulty except a small bit of sputtering last night when it was unfortunately running on fumes and the service light activating after the gas tank was filled. My limited experience and lack of funds makes me hope this is a blown fuse as that would be relatively quick and painless (so I understand it) to fix but a friend has suggested it may be the starter and I am not foolish enough to believe it couldn't be something even worse. Of course I want to be appraised of more serious concerns in case I need to start making long term plans to restore my mobility.
View 2 RepliesHyundai - Accent - Transmissions :: Jerking Badly From Park To 1st And 1st To 2nd For First 5 Or 10 Minutes Of Driving
I have a 2004 Hyundai Accent with about 120,000 miles on it. Last summer, it started jerking badly from park to 1st and 1st to 2nd for the first five or ten minutes that I drove it. It stopped during the winter (Texas winter, so a mild fall in most places with seasons), the check engine light never came on, and the transmission fluid was fine (both color and volume), so I didn't get it checked out. Now that it's summer again, the jerking has started back up. I've also noticed in the last few weeks weak acceleration after stopping (again, usually only in the first ten minutes or so of driving). And today my check engine light came on.
I've checked the fuses, and I just got my oil changed (they said the check engine light was giving them a transmission code, but didn't elaborate). I have a leaking valve cover gasket and cracked belts that I'll be repairing ASAP. Is it possible that either of those are causing this problem?
Since I'm a single young woman, I don't want to go into a shop without being fully informed (I can't tell you how many times I've been ripped off). My research suggested a couple things:1. It might be the coil packs.2. I might need a new transmission.
Chevrolet - Equinox :: 2008 - Engine Made Sort Of A Buzzer Sound And Does Not Start
Recently I've been having some intermittent trouble starting my 2008 Chevy Equinox LS. The problem only occurs when I leave my daughter's daycare after dropping her off in the morning...so it's the second start of the day, after about a 5 minute drive. All other times the car starts fine. Here's a rundown of the symptoms:
-May 9th or 10th: I tried starting the car (at the daycare) and the engine made sort of a buzzer sound, and didn't start. Then, after a few seconds, I tried it again and it started right up.
-May 11th: I did some interstate driving (about a 1.5 hour trip each way). On the trip up, after about an hour or so, I received the following warnings: "Service Traction Control" and "Service Stabilitrack." After I turned off the car the warnings have never come back on (don't know if this is related to the starting problem, but figured I would mention it).
-May 18th: while sitting at a stoplight, the car was idling roughly - I had to really hold down the brake to prevent the car from lurching forward, and the RPMs were going between about 800 and 1500...haven't noticed any rough idling since, though.
-May 20-24 & 27-29: Again, when leaving the daycare in the morning, when I try to start the car, it sounds like a machine gun. It usually won't start the first time, but will the second time after still making that noise. Attached is a video of this. The odd thing, though, is that it hasn't done it the last two times I've left the daycare (I doubt the problem just fixed itself).
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Engine Stumbles Badly A Few Seconds After Regen Starts
Is there an alert setting to signal when a regen starts? My engine stumbles badly a few seconds after a regen starts. The dealer hasn't found the problem. Right now I just keep an eye on the soot level gauge.

My 2003 Chevy Imapala went over some large water puddles and shortly after a check engine light came out. My local auto store did a check and stated there is a possible problem with a senor. If the senor got wet, could it even give the computer a good reading? Would it probably give a totally different reading once it dries?

Ok so here's the thing. I put an intake on the car. But the engine shakes badly and the RPM keeps bouncing. There is no air leak. Is there any vag-com programming that needs to be done for the intake to work since it is going to be different than the stock one? t is a 2.0t engine.
View 11 RepliesGmc - Sonoma :: 1996 - Engine Shakes Badly And Struggles To Run / Timing Is Way Off
I have a 1996 GMC Sonoma extended cab, 2.2l engine (not vortec) purchased in the United States. I’m having trouble setting the timing correctly.
I recently replaced the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets and chain, and after several attempts to set the timing, the engine still shakes badly and struggles to run smoothly, especially at idle. (It did not do this before the repair.) My code reader picks up the following codes: P0106, P0108. It seems to me that the timing is off despite my best efforts.
I’m going to try and attach a picture of the timing chain and sprockets as they’re currently set because the camshaft timing mark is strange on this vehicle and I’m not sure if it’s lined up correctly. Does it looks right? (Red mark on cam sprocket made by me; timing mark is supposedly the circular hole above that tooth.)
I did several other repairs at the same time that I did the timing. I have gone back over as much of these as possible and I don’t think I did anything wrong. As cars go I’m strictly an amateur but I work as a small engine mechanic so I have some experience with the way things feel when they’re done wrong. Nevertheless, if the timing is right, maybe I botched one of these?
The simultaneous repairs:
Removed head
Replaced hydraulic lifters
Cleaned carbon off valves
Checked pushrod straightness
Changed gaskets (several)
Replaced oil pressure sensor, coolant temp sensor, & thermostat
Replaced coolant hoses
I did all this because I hit the 150,000-mile mark and I want to keep it running for another 150,000.
Ford Excursion :: Overheated - Water Pump?
Was heading to the coast to do some camping this last weekend. Overheated on the way, limped back to a safe parking lot to wait for a tow truck. Lost a bunch of coolant out the pressure cap, filled back up with water while I slowly pulled back into town.

This started a bit ago. Every time it rains I get water in my glove box. The weatherstrip on the plastic cowl is missing but I have a hard time believing that is the issue. There are signs of rust on the top corner above the windshield. The paint is bubbling. I'm not sure what it is but I need to stop it as soon as possible!
View 1 RepliesFord Excursion :: Water-in-fuel Light Has Been On Constantly
My water-in-fuel light has been on constantly since I bought my 6.0L X about 3 weeks ago. Replaced fuel filters immediately; used DieselKleen in fuel; drained the HFCM multiple times... no water (upgraded the HFCM plug too). Sprayed some carb cleaner through drain hole and out runs red goo. Finally had time to clean out the HFCM this weekend. Raised front-end on ramps, chocked wheels.
Attempted to remove front drive shaft to 4x4. Couldn't free one of the bolts on the front U-joint. Rats. Since I couldn't remove the drive shaft, there wasn't enough room to remove the entire HFCM, so I removed only the cover.
Disconnect battery.
Unplug WIF sensor and fuel heater.
Drain HFCM (again) to make sure it's empty...it wasn't.
Disconnect 4 fuel lines. Wipe fuel from running down arms. I should mention that I had less than 1/4 tank of fuel to try and minimize spillage.
Remove 4 cover screws (7mm, though my 5/16" SAE socket fit better.)
Clean cover and HFCM with carb cleaner.
Replace HFCM gasket.
Replace HFCM cover; screws were hand-tightened.
Reconnect fuel lines and sensors.
Cycle Key-On, Engine Off (KOEO) about 4-5 times.
Crank 'er up....no more WIF light.
Here are some before and after pics.

Ford Excursion :: Water In The Glove Box After Hard Rain
This morning, after a hard rain, we went to town to run a few errands. When we were going down the road my wife opened the glove box. It was filled with water. When I say filled...I mean filled. I looked at that side of the windshield and found a few things that concern me. There is a bit of rust at the top corner of the windshield that has bubbled the paint. The small strip of weatherstrip that should be at the top of the plastic shroud (where the windshield wipers are at) is missing. Could either be the cause of the water in the glove box? I am worried that if the glove box is filled that wiring behind the dash could have been exposed to the moisture as well.
View 4 RepliesFord Excursion :: 2000 - Installing Water Pump?
I came out of work to see a fair amount of fluid on the ground under my excursion (2000 limited 7.3l 4x4). So I checked my fluids and found the coolant low and all the other fluids were good,. I had some in the excursion (not sure why I had it but it was there ). Filled it as much as I could started the truck and there it was a pretty big leak from my water pump. I was able to get one (new one lifetime warranty from an auto parts place, Ford was closed) so now on my day off instead of relaxing I will be installing a water pump. I guess it was about time. I figured since I was there I might as well flush the system. How many gallons of coolant this will take to refill the whole system?
