Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F350 - AC Won't Start / No Air Until Hit Around 2800 RPM
So I am not getting anywhere solving this problem. my 99 f350 psd air condition wont start until you hit around 2800 rpm. Then the clutch engages and it blows ice cold air.The truck will sit and idle once the clutch has been engaged and stays engaged. Turn of the air and it wont start again till it sees 2800 rpm. Put power to the clutch with the engine off and it works fine. Cant see it being a pressure problem because without the clutch engaged nothing changes in the air conditioning system so why does it take 2800ish rpm to have it engage.

My two oldest sons and I have a 1999 SD F250 4x4 with the V10 automatic. My boys burnt the trans. We had a spare that was pulled from the same year truck with the same motor. The boys installed it without me. Everything seems to work as it should, EXCEPT! 1-2 will not shift until 2800 rpm. 2-3 is the same. When I checked the install I found that the new trans has a speed input sensor on top of the housing behind the bell housing. It is Not plugged in, my harness does not have that plug. Old trans does not have that sensor. Is this the cause of the high rpm shifting?

99 f-350 crew cab. The A/C is not blowing cold as it should. Have already replaced the compressor and clutch, orifice tube and accumulator, also cleaned evaporator coil and put a new blower motor on, also a new blend door actuator. Also put a valve in to block coolant from the heater core. System has had vacuum pulled and charged correctly by my mechanic, he says he doesn't know of anything else to do, that it was as good as its going to get. Ive been in 2 more trucks identical to mine and the A/C will freeze you out, as to where mine will not come close. Temp coming out of the vents barely gets down to 60 degrees

View 14 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2005 F350 Won't Start In Cold Weather
I picked up my 05 F350 dually 5 speed w/ the 6.0 powerstroke motor in august... It only had 38k on it when I bought it... its got 43K miles on it now...
Ran great in the warm weather but ever since it got cold out its been a struggle. It was running rough on the way home and kept stalling while i was driving it.. (acting like it was starving for fuel).
I went and replaced both fuel filters and started the truck... let it warm up and it stalled while sitting in my drive way and haven't been able to start it since...
I have fuel additive in it but since I don't drive it all the time (maybe 3 times a week for 30 miles) could it be possible that the fuel is gelling?
I was going to check the EGR valve tonight...
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: F350 - Hard Start When Engine Cold
2003 F350 7.3L 164k miles. Got towed in with hard to start cold complaint.
Hooked it up to the Snap On Verus Pro scan tool and we get up to 3000 psi on the ICP cranking, IPR value seems within spec, we have rpms over 100 on tool, pulse width within spec, computer voltage above 10v while cranking, verified output of glow plug module (California) and glow plugs get voltage for approx 50 seconds @ 80 degrees farenheit, glow plugs all read 0 ohms resistance.
injectors do NOT sound the same during buzz test.
Vehicle takes EXCESSIVE cranking cold to eventually get it started. LOTS of cranking. Just had to replace starter and a battery because driver burned em out. It feels like the vehicle shakes when it gets running. Black smoke when revving cold. Sometimes white smoke while cranking.
Once the engine has been warmed up, it starts perfectly every time.
I have spent two days in the engine bay looking for chaffed wires and doing diag and my current diagnosis is bad injectors. I feel there COULD also be high pressure oil leak, or a mechanical issue such as low compression. No compression guage yet for this truck. We have the ICP and IPR fittings to do a shop air test. Recently did a 6.0L and went thru everything and eventually diagnosed it as bad HPOP. LOW ICP pressure.
I noticed two of the cylinders were at maybe 8% Perdel on the data. Seems too high. Also, it "passed" the KOER self test and "passed" the injector buzz test with no codes after, but the audible sound of injectors didn't "seem" right to me, but I am new to these engines.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2011 F350 - Shifts Hard When Cold / Cool
I recently purchased a 2011 F-350 w/6.7 diesel. When I first start it & let it run say 30 seconds and take off it shifts fine from 1 to 2 but when it goes from 2-3 it hangs there a second and then finally shifts into 3rd hard. 3rd to 4th is ok but 4-5 again is a hard shift and from 5 to 6 is OK. It will do this for a while like through the neighborhood and down the road 10 miles then it is fine. Shifts beautifully when warmed up.
My local Ford dealer has a guy that is supposed to be very knowledgeable with Super Duty trucks. I have had it to him twice and he says this is normal. All shift hard until the transmission is up to operating temperature. Says the engine is very powerful and until everything is up to temperature this will happen. If so then it would be normal to let it sit and run for a while before you take off in the morning. I am getting ready to hook the truck up to my 33' camper and go on our first camping season with the trailer/truck combination and if I need to leave it sit and warm up I will.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2005 F350 - Recommended Cold Tire Pressure
I have a quick question regarding tire pressure. Where we work, we have a 2005 F350.
Stock tire pressure for stock tires 275/70R18 states 65 PSI for the front and 75 PSI for the rear.
The truck currently has 295/65R18 tires all around. They are some sort of Wrangler tire, not sure of exact model, but they are more of a all-terrain tire. The truck sticks to the road though.
What would be the recommended cold tire pressure with these? Can I stick with what the stock tires would be?
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2012 F350 - Clunking / Crunching Sound In Steering Only When Cold Outside
So, I have this problem that comes back when the temperatures drop below about 20 degrees F. The truck is a 2012 F350 diesel with 15k miles and has done it since it had 3,000 miles on it. When turning in an intersection, or just moving the steering wheel left to right, it makes a clunking sound up in the front steering area and you can feel it a little as well. I have taken it to the dealer and they tightened the body mounts, but that did nothing. Once it warms up, the sound is gone.
This, coupled with the rear end clunking loudly over every bump and pothole when it is cold out, makes this truck a real noisy/annoying vehicle in the winter.
Here is a video of the steering noise, it is louder in person: [URL] ....
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2006 F350 - Long Cold Starts / IPR Is Maxing Out At 85% On The Gauge
I have an 06 F350 6.0 and I am having long cold starts. On the gauge the ipr is maxing out at 85%. This only happens when cold and have never had a no start issue. When hot the engine cranks right up and the ipr stays in normal range. FICM has been replaced. Does this sound like needing a new ipr only?
View 4 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2002 F350 - Hard / No Start At Cold - Injector Buzz
This is an issue I started chasing after having all the injectors replaced on my aunt's F-350. We had them replaced due to hard/no start on cold (dealership told her they needed to be changed). Unfortunately, I did not get the buzz test results before changing the injectors.
So far that has been replaced:
Injectors
ICP (was leaking)
IPR
both UVCH
IDM (twice)
The issue we are having right now is that only 2 injectors (#6, #7) buzz properly. Initially when we changed the injectors, it did start but didn't seem to run quite right. We did the buzz test and at that time and injectors 1,3,5,6,7 would buzz strong but the rest were weak. After some forum lurking, we suspected that the IDM was faulty. We purchased a refurbished one and after we changed it, only injectors 6,7 would buzz strong. Thinking a faulty IDM was sent it back for a replacement. While waiting, we decided to put the old one back in figuring it would go back as it was before but only 6,7 would buzz strong. We receive the second IDM and same thing, only 6,7 buzz strong. We did a continuity test from the IDM connector and they all get 2.7 ohms (it was an older multimeter so not sure if being .1 under the 2.8-3.6 range is bad).
What I did next is use the uvch external pigtail to test the injectors. I plugged the extra pig tail into the uvch and then the ends of the wires into the plug of the upper harness. Afterwards, I would swap a different injector wire (on the pigtail) to the #6 injector wire (on the upper harness). Whatever injector that would go to #6 would fire correctly. So I know that the injectors themselves are fine. I am suspecting the wiring harnesses (upper/lower) but the continuity test would say otherwise. We also do not get any fault codes except for the EBP occasionally (waiting for a new one). I am lost on what to test or look at next.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2000 F350 Takes Forever To Start When Cold / Water In Fuel Light Keeps Kicking In
So the first issue is, if the vehicle is cold (regardless of temp outside) it takes forever to start it. It cranks and cranks and cranks and after a couple seconds of cranking I stop, wait a second, then try again. Usually it takes two sometimes three tries to start it. The guy who I bought it off of said it has newer glow plugs (last year I believe) and also I have replaced the batteries. Once its warmed up it does not do this at all.
Secondly and also something that just recently started happening, my water in fuel light keeps kicking in. I drained the water out of the water catcher reservoir under the truck multiple times and the first time water actually came out but every time after that simply diesel fuel comes out. I added a bottle of water remover to the fuel as well and ran it down to a quarter tank. Then filled the truck up completely, added two more bottles of water remover. The light still comes on. I noticed it only comes on when I am going up or down a fill. When I am driving on flat ground it does not kick on.
Diesel - Ford - Focus :: 2008 - Engine Consistently Shuts Down Around 2800 RPM
My '08 Ford Focus Diesel dies while accelerating on hills or under load. In third gear, around 2800 RPM the engine consistently shuts down. The engine continues to run until the fuel is exhausted (about 10 seconds). No warning lights come on and the radio, lights, etc. continue to function. Putting it in neutral and restarting the car consistently works.

The truck is a 98 4.6l with 188,000 miles on it and yesterday i was driving up over a pretty steep grade hill, i was going about 55 and turning maybe 2800 rpms at the top a big cloud of white smoke came out (either tailpipe or just out of motor on hot pipes)and also some in the cab. It didn't run any different though so I kept driving about 3 mile and stopped where i could take a look and and saw fresh oil around the starter area running down where the motor meets the tranny. I checked the oil and it was at a good level and also not milky. I checked level again today and it seems well and there is no drops of oil on the ground i ran it home about ten mi and it runs good. What could have happened?
