Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Strange Noise Occurs At Both Highway And Surface Street Speeds - Throttle Related

I have a strange noise that occurs at both highway and surface street speeds. On surface streets at low speeds 45 mph and under, if I let off accelerator to coast and lightly step on accelerator I get this quick sharp noise.

Everything I have read regarding a similar noise is under load and being described as a turbo fart. Clearly I am not under any load. I'm lost.

Definitely not a low woooo noise. Also not a hard accel and release and definitely no chuckle and or popping. The sound is high pitched and quick, roughly .5 to 1 second at most. The sound is more like a "zzzrrp" or "zzzoop". I can replicate the sound 50% of the time easily at speeds under 45 mph by briefly coasting (no accelerator) and lightly tapping the accelerator and releasing or holding. Occasionally this sound will occur at full stop when I step off of the brake pedal and before I step on the accelerator. This sound can also occasionally be heard at highway speeds under similar accelerator conditions though it may be more frequent and I just don't notice it.

Would this condition throw a code? Just received "Total Ford Scan Tool Package Enhanced Bundle SP03" scanner from autoengenuity. Hoping to put it through its paces tomorrow.

Additional info: 145k miles. Injectors serviced by a reputable diesel shop here in Vegas approximately 1.5 years ago. Unknown oil leak where oil is collecting in the valley on top of the engine beneath the turbo. HPOP seals were replaced roughly 1 year ago at another reputable diesel shop here in Vegas. Still have an oil leak (turbo related?) Oil is under 500 miles old and acceptable level. Fuel filter is due for a change but that does not seem to affect condition. Air filter 1000 miles. Thinking about upgrading to AIS severe duty kit soon.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Miss Causing Truck To Shudder

Took the beast out for a good road trip to try out the new tires. She is running good now, but has picked up a weird miss which cause the truck to shudder. It does feel and sound just like a miss, I know that it is a diesel but that is only way to describe it.

When driving along with the cruise set at 75, when I hit a hill, the truck will gradually accelerate, and it will miss a beat. Just like you turned it off and right back on very fast. Usually once, twice if the hill is long. If I accelerate harder it will not do it. Most often does it while gradually moving accelerator.

Has new fuel filter ad cam sensor.. Runs great the rest of the time.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Shudder / Stutter And Shake While Accelerating

I have a early 99 7.3l that seem to cut out and shudder while accelerating at low rpm's below 2000 once I am above 2000 rpm it seems to go away similar to a dirty carburetor thinking injector problem...

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: F250 - Brakes Shudder While Stopping

I just bought my first truck and it is a 1999 (Made in late 1998) F250 7.3 Super Duty it is 2WD with rear ABS and has 290k miles on it.

It has what seems to be the common brake shudder while stopping. I know the only solution is to replace the rotors and I have been looking all over the forums and internet and just don't know what to go with.

I'll be using the truck to do light farm work, pickup lumber, get a bed load of dirt and maybe pull a normal car trailer every now and then.

I'm wanting to get something that will prove to be trouble free long term and be good enough for what I need with out over paying for something that I will never fully utilize. I have looked at

R1 Concepts
Frozen Rotor
EBC - which doesn't have 2wd front rotors

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2001 F250 4x4 - Getting Noise When Braking?

2001 F250 7.3 4x4 330000

So weird noise while breaking but only right at the very end of the breaking cycle or if breaking hard. As soon as you come of the breaks it stops. Changed out front rotors and pads last night thinking that was it but its not. I'm inclined to think it could be the driver rear side by having someone else drive and brake whilst stood by it - rear rotors and pads changed 18 months ago and quick visual check appears they are ok. Just can't work it out - any thoughts? Caliper seemed ok on the front left, but would probably need doing in the next 6 months

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2002 F250 - Shaking Only At 40 Mph Only While Braking

I have a shaking issue only at 40 mph + only while i am braking. I thought warped rotors, but the pedal isn't pulsing and if they are warped, wouldn't it do it every time regardless of the speed??

My second thought was the center support bearing. It had some movement so I replaced it tonight. Now there isn't any movement in the drive line. After a test drive, it hasn't gone completely away. It is still barely there.

I am not sure where to go next.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Steering Pull To Both Side When Braking

I am having problems with my steering being all over the place. I noticed it at first when braking. It would pull to both sides. At a stop light holding the brakes my steering would randomly pull. I replaced the power steering pump. It didn't fix it. Now just driving it pulls all over. I was thinking steering box?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Low Speed Noise - Rattle / Grinding When Braking

The noise is somewhere between a tin rattle and a bearing grinding heard most when braking but constant under say 10 mph. We have not been able to pinpoint where exactly it is coming from but I believe it is front drivers side.(but really could be anywhere) it is not dependent on rpm, nor gear or clutch engagement, Nor hubs engaged or disengaged.

The drives side front hub, rear hubs' bearings(races and seals) have been replaced. I have the passenger side front hub to do as well, just haven't gotten to it yet and it doesn't seem bad. we are all stumped on what it is. It seems to relate to the rotating assembly though as it seems to change with speed. it almost seems like tire rub, but there is no scaring or marks of any sort anywhere for it.

Vehicle is a e99 f250 short bed ext cab. open diff if it makes any difference. My next thought after the hub is pinion bearing? Could it be something to do with abs? say the truck is 4 wheel abs but the fronts are disconnected (trying to figure out if it is 4wabs as it appears to have connectors, but the original hubs did not have the hole for the sensors. no abs light comes on, but that could be a bad bulb too)

What we have found is hubs locked or unlocked, 4wd engaged or disengaged, and happens at right around 16 mph, braking, accelerating, clutch in or out, in gear or in neutral. All 4 corners have new bearings. We have found 2 things, 1 is the track bar bushings are shot (don't think this is the source of the noise but could be wrong and i will be replacing those..once I have money in again.. 2 the passenger side leaf spring when wacked with your hand makes a different sound than the drivers side.( could be a matter of different loads, but figured worth noting)

There are 2 noises, the first is the noise we hear, the second is one that i found when doing the noise reduction (loud meaty tires you cant hear the noise in the audio without reduction) I think that that was one of the hubs, or maybe the brakes, I am unsure, but it happens at different locations in the video.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Loose Sounding Rattle In Front End And Thud During Braking?

I picked up a 2000 4x4 F250 on Saturday.

The truck rides pretty good but on bumpy roads there is a loose sounding rattle in the front end. Also when applying the brakes there is a thud in the front drives side. You can feel it in the drivers floor board a little. Once you start braking about halfway to complete stop is when the thud is, if that makes sense. I suspect bushings but how do I know which ones.

Ford - Expedition :: 1999 - Shudder More Pronounced When Braking / Accelerating

I have a 199 Ford Expedition that started shuddering several months ago. The shudder was the most pronounced when braking, but was also pretty bad when accelerating and letting off the accelerator.I took it to a Nationally recognized service center. They charged me over $1,200 to replace everything associated with my brakes, but the shudder, (although no longer so pronounced when braking), was still there.Their best guess was the ā€œUā€ joints, but since they had just a little play in them, they weren't sure that that would cause so much shudder.I took it to a Ford dealer. They had it for 3 days, and charged me $366 for a diagnosis that I had 3 different brand name tires, and the All Wheel Drive was having difficulty keeping the wheels in sync. The problem seems to be most pronounced when letting up on the accelerator Also pronounced when accelerating, not as much so as when letting off the accelerator, but when cruising steadily with my foot on the accelerator, it nearly goes away.

Golf IV R32 :: Erratic Shudder Occurs At Different Speeds

Well for a couple of months now I've had a really erratic shudder that occurred at different speeds and at different RPMs... I checked motor mounts, wheel balance, CV Joints, flywheel, etc. and when I took it to my mechanic, he discovered a sliced exhaust hanger in the middle of the exhaust system and nothing else.

Well after replacing this rubber hanger this vibration miraculously stopped occurring. I realized now that the movement of the exhaust which was created over certain roads with undulation caused it to flex harmonically and interrupt the workings of my Koni FSDs.

I really began to think the struts were the culprit but in the end realized the frequency from the loose exhaust was too much for the Frequency Sensing Dampers to counteract as the movements and inertia were opposite the motion of the car itself. She's now smooth as silk at highway speeds once again and only a slight vibration from the race strut bushings which were recently upgraded from stock can be felt through the steering wheel.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2008 F250 - Front End Shudder And Some Pedal Pulsation While Braking

2008 F250 Crew Cab 5.4, 79K miles, had new brake pads installed at 40K miles. Recently, I noticed front end shudder and some pedal pulsation while braking. It started kind of sudden. My first thought was a warped rotor.

When I took things apart, I found passenger side front rotor was cracked and the caliper pistons were rusted and falling apart, the old pads were only worn about half way. My thoughts on a bad rotor were confirmed, and then some.

I replaced the broken caliper, both front rotors, installed new pads on all four wheels, and bled the brakes. To my surprise, the brake shuddering did not go away. I'm stumped.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Noise Behind Firewall Occurs Every 20 - 40 Seconds

just got a new to me 05 f250 with the 6.0. Truck has 152k its super clean. I think there is an odd noise. That occurs every 20-40 seconds. This is my first diesel. There is no check engine light. No loss of power. No stutter.

But, there is a bump sound behind the firewall on the drivers side. And a felt bump on the throttle pedal. At first I thought it was a sub woofer behind the firewall, not really, just the feeling of the sound and vibration. Since there is no check light on I'm concerned as to what this could be if it's not a normal diesel sound/vibration.

There is no correlation with throttle position(occurs at idle and pedal depressed) RPM (I feathered the throttle attempting to elicit the sound no result). bumps in the road (bump stop, steering nothing wrong there). Does seem in the afternoon it's more prevalent. I drive about 20mi to work and around 5mi through out the day. The sound occurs approximately every 20-40 seconds.

Prius (Gen 3) :: Shudder And Vibration Occurs Between 30 To 40 Mph When Throttle Is At Half Way Point

Picked up a used 10 prius iv with 31k and have put 1200 miles so far. One troubling thing I have noticed is this weird shudder/vibration that occurs between 30-40mph when the throttle is at the half way point (area between the light green and dark green bar) Vibration similar to that of driving over the rumble strip on the highway but not nearly as harsh and the noise would be similar to when you have one rear window open in the car and it creates the pulsating wind noise.

It doesn't do it all the time and mashing the throttle seems to alleviate the problem. It doesn't happen so much when cruising around town but it happens every time I get near the top of the incline in our office park and the car continues to lose speed until such time as I get back on the gas but it continues to do it until I turn into the parking lot. Occasionally it does it when coasting down a hill with the throttle right near the point of crossing from light green to dark green on the screen.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 F350 - No Throttle - Sometime It Occurs At Startup Or While Driving

I have a strange issue and it happens very sporadic. Sometime it occurs at startup, sometimes while driving. Not sure whether it is limp mode, but I have no throttle. It starts fine, idles, but no throttle. Like I said, sometimes it happens while driving and I have to pull over and shut it down and restart. Mods are few, it has an airaid air filter and I had the turbo rebuilt and egr delete both completed in May. FICM was rebuilt by ficmrepair.com a couple years ago. It does seem to happen more often when it is raining or with a heavy dew after sitting for many hours. 128k.

I adjusted the pedals all the way out and back in and it stopped for almost 5 weeks, but it has been pretty dry here in SW Ohio. then it got really foggy one day and rained the next and it has started again. Could it be that the EGR pigtail is getting moisture. It does not throw a CEL and my scan gauge II shows no codes. I did run a dose of hotshot's secret thru the fuel back in may, ran a couple tanks of fuel, then changed the filters with OEM. I have had this truck for almost 3 years, but still a newbie when it comes to diesels.

Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Tick / Tap Noise Occurs Immediately After Start Up And Happens At Idle

So my 2015 has a touch over 1K miles on it. It has "ticked" loudly since day 1. I generally keep my truck in my shop and hear the ticking every single time when I pull it outside. It occurs immediately after start up and happens at idle. Easily heard anywhere around the front end of the truck. This is not the normal diesel engine noise and absolutely sounds like the tick-tick-tick of an old typewriter.

So in doing some research, I came upon the TSB for put out for the 2011-2014 models, in which it CLEARLY states the typewriter noise can/will occur AFTER an oil change and eventually go away...

So, is the noise only supposed to be heard AFTER an oil change, and if so, why would my truck do it even though it has not had an oil change? My 2012 did not have the tick before, during or after an oil change, ever.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Power Stroke Malfunction - In Reverse / With Lights On Engine Shut Off

Last November I forgot to plug my truck in and it got down to 0, my girlfriend tried unsuccessfully to jump start it. When I got home I jumped it and got it running. I took it down to a heated shop to troubleshoot the glow plug circuit. I discovered it was not getting 12v to the glow plug relay. Also I started it and tried to back it up in the shop, when put in reverse it killed the engine, not lugged it down it was like you shut the switch off.

Also I discovered if you turn the lights on it kills the engine immediately. It will not crank with the lights on either. So far I have replaced the computer, ignition switch, batteries, and cam positioning sensor. Now comes the weird part!! I decided to get it running and pull the bulbs out of the back up lights I pulled the drivers bulb first then the passengers side bulb. When I pulled the passengers side bulb it killed the engine.

It is not my daily driver so it still sits in my shop. I have a hunch it's a ground issue but I've checked and cleaned up all the grounds I can find and it still has the problem.

Phaeton :: Clunking Sound That Occurs At Low Speed When Braking

My Phaeton has recently developed a single clunking sound that occurs at low speed, either when braking, or when turning the steering wheel towards the right about 90. The clunk can be felt at the drivers footwell area too.

All four upper control arm bushings were replaced a few months ago and the antiroll bar links are pretty new too.

I have not identified exactly where the noise is coming from, but by placing my hand on all suspension components it seems that the clunk is most felt at the front left rear lower arm. Hence I am wondering if the bushing or the whole arm may need replacement.

Ford Excursion :: 2002 - Shudder During Braking?

My 2002 Ex 4x4 developed a shudder during breaking. Today while trying to jack it up and put on jack stands. My 2 3/4 ton jack was too weak/short to lift it up to put on stands. I am using 6 ton stands just to lift the front.

So have to get new jack. Keep in mind I don't have a ton of cash for new jack. What size are you all using to get your ex up on stands?
