Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2003 F350 DRW Won't Start - Not Getting Enough Fuel?
ICP and IRP changed both fuel filtrs and Blue spring put in. HPOP Pressure is over 1600PSI when cranking with 2.5 to 4 volts.
Will try to run but acts like not getting enough fuel. If I loosen the lines off the upper filter housing lots of fuel runs out. Lots of smoke when cranking also.
FICM volts are 48.5.
Reading with Scan Gauge 2.
The truck is a 2003 F350 DRW Stock 6.0 with 433000 on the odometer.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Fuel Pressure - Engine Did Not Start When Turned The Switch Key On
2004 6.0. 160K miles.
I'm about to replace an injector and wanted baseline info on fuel pressure before doing the work. Using a gauge tapped into the top of an aluminum alloy fuel filter cap (from bulletproof diesel), I turned the switch key on but did not start the engine.
Static pressure jumped to 60psi, but as soon as the pump cut off the pressure dropped off to zero. Again, engine not started. I cycled the key off and back on and the pressure hit 60psi and held that until the pump cycled off, then dropped back to zero.
I'd like to get a few confirmations that fuel pressure should or should not fall off when the pump kicks off.
Side note, during the crank process the pressure jumps and holds at 60psi and stays at 60psi while idling. I have not conducted a dynamic road test yet. Didn't have the adapter to connect my long hose...
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Low Fuel Pressure And Reduced Pressure Limp Mode
My truck gave me low fuel pressure and reduced pressure limp mode at 21,000 miles. The fuel and air filters were changed at 16,000. The dealer said all they found was the fuel filters (at 21,000) were what needed to be changed. Also, why does my truck hum??
View 14 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Whining Sound / Low Fuel Pressure And Reduced Power Warning - Fuel Pump Just Died
So, I just had the fuel pump replaced on my '15 6.7 a month ago and it just died again. (next day edit: it didn't actually die, it showed all the same symptoms)
Same symptoms: whining sound, low fuel pressure warning, reduced power warning.
This time I'm 50 miles from home so I pulled off the road before it shut off. Interesting, I was in a hilly area and my low fuel warning came on too. We are waiting for a tow. I was considering trying to push on but don't want to get stuck in a dangerous spot on the highway. We're in a church parking lot.
So, last time this happened I was on flat road with about a half tank of fuel on a lunch break. I ran a mile after the warnings came on to feel out the issue and to see what would happen. I happened to be only about a mile away from my dealer so I drove that way. I got reduced power warning and then it cut power on me (limp mode). I made it to about 100 yards away before it cut off.
This time, I was in a hilly area at night on a windy two lane road with no shoulders in the woods. I was miles from civilization and was showing below a quarter tank of fuel. ~100 miles to EMPTY. I got the low fuel pressure warning first and then the reduced power mode before the whining noise started. I was climbing a hill on a curve at the time. I drove a quarter mile and then pulled off the road into a parking lot so I wouldn't be stuck on the shoulder. It didn't actually go into limp mode.
I let it sit a few minutes, talked it over with the wife and decided to call for a tow. After talking to the tow truck driver who said he would be an hour because he had to go find a bigger truck, I decided to see what I could do while I wait. I fired it back up and the fuel level dropped to below 1/8 and I was now showing 33 miles to EMPTY. I was parked on a hill with the back end up. I had backed the truck into a space to make it easier for the tow truck driver. I let it run a minute, checked for leaks and it seemed to run fine with no studdering or additional warning lights.
CEL was on but no new warnings. I put in my code reader and pulled the P0087. Just one code. I revved it a bit to see if there were any issues. It seemed fine so I decided to try my luck. I started driving towards home with the intention to stop at the first diesel station to fill up. Truck ran fine. After two minutes of driving gently, heart racing, my fuel level came back up and it now read 88 miles to EMPTY. I drove 11 miles to the nearest station and filled up. No issues. I shut it down. I fired it back up. Still no issues so with a full tank, I drove home the remaining 30 miles without issue.
Planning to take it in to the dealer Monday to get it checked. Could this be from an air pocked due to low fuel level and hilly terrain? Is my new pump dying already? Is there something else going on inside the tank or elsewhere?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 F350 - Low Fuel And Water In Fuel Lights Came On
For the last four months my 04 F350 has been having the same problem every now and then. Cruising down the highway at a decent speed and the fuel pedal/fuel shuts off. Only lasts seconds then re-engages. Two lights come on. Low fuel and water in fuel. I changed the internal fuel pump last week and it did it again tonight. The truck runs great otherwise except for an occasional death shake while stopped at a light. No codes came up and FICM is at 54.

2003 f350 6.0. Ran last night and wont start today. Monitor says 85 psi pressure, should be atleast 500 to start. Could it be the IPR?

I have a 04 F350 Dually and I am not getting any oil to my high oil pressure. Truck will crank but won't turn over. The high oil pressure pump is fine. What am I missing?
View 6 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2016 F350 - Low Oil Pressure Light
My new 2016 F350 6.7, every single time I start the truck, I get the low oil pressure light. Even after letting the truck idle. I'm concerned because I have no gauge inside to see what it's running and I also have what sounds like a can of rocks noise at idle and when I'm slowly accelerating I hear a clacking noise. Is this normal or should I be headed to the stealership? Truck only has 1100 miles. I've owned it 3 weeks and this is really making me wonder. I forgot to add that I'm in Louisiana and it's not often really cold. It was 84 today and I had the same thing. Even after I drove it and turned it off. Started it back up, same light.
View 14 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Died - Low Fuel Pressure - Blew White Smoke - Diesel Smell?
no change, changed stand pipe and dummy plug on driver side, no change and guess what? Now I am stuck on the side of the road waiting to give my last $100 to a tow truck! Engine is hydrolocked, fuel pressure is low, starts off at around 20 and works up to 54 with key on engine off, and that is as much as I know from the side of the road with out my AE. Blew white smoke also. Smelled of unburnt diesel. I think it's linked to my rough running issue. Maybe a bad injector? But every time I did the click test they all passed. Idk, I'm gonna remove the glow plugs and see which hole is loaded and with what. . .

View 14 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Low Fuel Pressure At WOT
I just installed my fuel pressure gauge, only to find out that I'm running with low fuel pressure at wot. My filters have a little over 2000 miles on them and I've had the blue spring installed for a while now. It drops to about 36psi from 61 or 62psi. What could be the culprit? Also I'm running the out of the box street tune that comes with the sct x4 because I get about 15mpg with it.

View 2 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Fuel Pressure Dropped
I recently installed a glow shift fuel pressure gauge. All seems good.
@ idle 58-60 psi
@ WOT drops to 50 psi, no less.
Tonight I went to catch up to a car that had no lights on at all to tell them and during WOT fuel pressure gauge showed it dropped to less than 30! I let off immediately and it went right back up. I tried to repeat it with another go @ WOT and it would not go under 50 psi like normal.
Motorcraft fuel filters less than 3000 miles ago .. Blue spring installed over the winter.
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Low Pressure Fuel Pump
So I just replaced the low pressure fuel pump on my 14 6.7 and it seems to be running as good as it was before. I need to get an aftermarket fuel filter setup for my truck. So what are you using, why did you pick that particular system and is it working, does it really work for taking out water and other contaminates? These fuel systems don't seem to be up to par in filtering modern day fuel, I need peace of mind.

Low-pressure fuel warning came on two separate times Sunday ... I know what caused it the fuel gel 18 below not enough anti gel in the tank no big deal warm the truck up everything's fine now no more warning lights coming on does the dealer need to reset anything I guess I'm asking did it throw a code that needs to be cleared? Its running fine now I guess I'll just have to put a little extra in when it gets that cold wasn't expecting - 18 checked drain no water just gel up could here the pump under the truck fighting to pump for a few minutes.

65 miles an hour driving down the interstate (I-5) pulling my 5Th Wheel and I look in the mirror and I see at first what I thought was smoke coming from the trailer and then I glanced at my dash and up pops "warning of Low Fuel Pressure". I pulled over as quickly as I could and when I stopped there was diesel fuel spray coming from under the hood. Turned off the key yelled for wife to get out of the truck now. Popped the hood and there was fuel dripping from the engine the all the way to the rear bumper and the front of the trailer.
Since I just had Ford service the truck and change the fuel filters three weeks ago I knew exactly what happened as I looked at the fuel line and seen the green retainer clip wasn't seated properly to the filter canister. I pushed the line in and seated the green clip. What I don't understand is I have driven the truck 200 miles since it was serviced. I re-attached the line and made sure the clip was seated correctly, poured 5 gal of water on the engine plus after using a roll of paper towels to soak up fuel. I didn't want to panic the dear wife but it could have very easily all went up in smoke!
What a mess it made of the Trucks undercarriage and 5th wheel. Going give a call to Ford tomorrow to hear what they can do to clean up this mess.
Question? This happen on a 6.7 after a filter change?
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Low Fuel Pressure Light Came On
I have a '13 with 11,000 miles that the low fuel pressure light has come on a few times this winter. I took it to the dealer and told them what was going on. They only changed the fuel filters and didn't investigate any farther. The paper work also said it was the low fuel light and not the low fuel pressure light...
It was fine for a few days but then it happened again. The fuel pump would make some noise as well. The light comes on and the fuel pump makes noise when the temp is close to 0 and I accelerate to highway speeds. I am running winter blend fuel and running the Ford anti gel so the fuel shouldn't be gelling.
I stopped in at the dealer again about a week ago and the service manager wouldn't send anyone out to listen to the noise. He set up an appointment for today. Today it was -8 when I dropped it off at the dealer and the light didn't come on and there wasn't any noise. It is supposed to be cold overnight so they are going to keep it to see if they can get it to act up again. They called into Ford but no answer from them yet.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Fuel Pressure PSI And Flow
I've done some searching on this site and found some good information but I still have some questions about Fuel Pressure and fuel flow. A few months back when I had a bad injector and bubble tested to verify and it took around 15 seconds to fill the bowl(filter removed) from near empty is that normal or the sign of a healthy HFCM?
Tonight I was able to check the fuel pressure for the first time and when I turned the key on fuel pressure was slow to build for 2-3 seconds held at 20 psi then spiked up to 62psi and stayed at that psi during the starting cycle and held steady during idle. Is it acceptable to hesitate with a pressure build at the beginning of the cycle?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Monitoring Fuel Pressure?
I've read the fuel pressure gauge install threads in the tech folder. Was wondering if the ISSPRO fuel pressure gauge with the sending unit plugged directly into the test port was a reliable option. On my 7.3L's I went through sending units often, until ISSPRO came out with an upgraded sending unit then all was good.
Also, not sure which OBD monitor will have fuel pressure as an add-on option. I've seen how the SCT and others will have an option for EGT input, but I haven't read much about fuel pressure input. Trying to decide between gauges and a monitor for the 6.0L.
