Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Scraping Noise In Front End When Turning Left
Scraping noise in front end when turning left. Have changed brake pads, calipers, and rotors on both front wheels. There was no scraping noise before changing.
View 2 RepliesElantra XD (2001-06) :: Steering Stiff When Turning Left, Only Occasionally
My car has occasionally been exhibiting some stiffness when turning left, a harder turn and when going more slowly (like parking). It feels like a loss of power steering. There's no squeal and the fluid is full, although I don't know the last time it was changed. So far it hasn't happened when turning right.
View 6 RepliesFord :: Scraping Sound From Rear Of Vehicle When Turning Slow
70's Ford 4x4 truck. I'm getting a very noticeable --- but intermittent, doesn't happen every time -- metallic scraping sound when turning right at slow speeds. Coming from the rear of the vehicle. Like in neighborhood driving. No unusual sounds when going straight. For the past week the problem seems to have gone away, so I'm playing this one by ear. Hopefully whatever it was has gone away. But I'm ever the worrier.
when it happens, it sounds like if I dragged a big sheet of metal on the road behind the truck. I'm sort of suspicious this sound is from the rear limited-slip differential. Could it be the diff clutches are corroded? Coming loose from their moorings? A differential bearing on the fritz?
Honda - Cr-v :: 2006 - Makes A Short Scraping Sound When Turning?
my '06 Honda CRV makes a short scraping sound when turning. But more interestingly, it only makes this sound when the car has just been started. If I've been driving, the sound will not occur. The sound itself is a short scrape which seems to originate in the rear passenger side of the vehicle. I've researched this problem a bit, but everything I've turned up is related to the AWD model, while my CRV is 2WD. Just had the brakes serviced and checked, so that's out as well.
View 2 RepliesFord F-150 (2009-2014) :: Scraping Sound On Hard Left Turn
I'm getting a scraping sound on hard left turns. I've only noticed it on a steep hill where I work going under five mph and making a sharp left turn. I got out today and it doesn't look like the tire is hitting anything. The shield in front of the tire is slightly looser than the right side, but can't see it making the noise unless something is hitting it. I've read some previous posts that indicated traction control possibly coming on. I have about 4,000 miles, 20 inch tires, and everything stock.

View 4 RepliesElantra XD (2001-06) :: Wind Whistle Sound That Appears To Come From Left Front Of Car
Our Elantra is 2003 2.0L GLS which has now done 117000 km.
We are very pleased with it. However, the "shock wave" pushed ahead by an oncoming truck can cause a sudden wind whistle - more like a loud shreak that appears to come from the left front of the car.
It can be quite un-nerving when it occurs. It can also be triggered by strong head or cross winds.
Hyundai - Elantra :: 2001 - Ticking Sound Coming From The Left Front Wheel?
My car seems to make a tick tick tick sound coming from the left front wheel well, but it only occurs when I make right turns. Not left or when driving straight. Could this be a bad cv joint or wheel bearing? Again, only happens when making right turns and I believe at any speed and the sound interval I believe is shorter (faster tick tick) at higher speeds. Also, the vehicle is a 2001 manual transmission and pressing the clutch I believe (cant confirm) stops or slows the sound.
View 4 RepliesLexus GS 2006-11 :: Driver Side Front Wheel Making Metallic Scraping Sound On Turning Right
I noticed that the driver side front wheel makes a metallic scraping noise while the car is turning right. It sounds like something scraping the rotor or shield behind the rotor ( a rotational/moving kind of scraping noise)
This only happens on a relatively sharp turn (wheel is turned 70~80% to the right). I don't suspect the power steering as there is no noise if the car is not moving even when wheel is turned to extremes. The scraping noise happens at any speed, as long as the car is moving. does not happen when car is turning left.
Note that I am 90% certain it is from the front... my ears may be playing a trick on me (kind of hard to listen precisely while driving). Where to start looking?
Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Scraping Noise Coming From Transmission When Clutch Is Not Pressed In
I have a 2002 Hyundai elantra gls with 190,000 miles on it. I have a scraping noise coming from the transmission when the clutch is not pressed in, the noise is present whether I am in gear or just in neutral. If I press the clutch in than the noise will completely go away. I have searched and found that these symptoms usually mean its an internal transmission problem and not just the throw out or pilot bearing.
View 4 RepliesElantra MD (2010-15) :: Tapping From Tire When Turning Left On The Highways
I took a trip up to New Hampshire about a month ago and on the way back I noticed when turning left on the highways (Not fully turning but on like say an offramp) I would hear a thumping sound coming from the front left side tire. When I got back onto the island it was not as noticeable I guess mainly due to the fact that we don't really have offramps like up in New England that could replicate that sound.
However to make a long story short tonight I was backing up into my driveway and noticed that while turning the wheel I heard that same tapping noise coming from the same tire. It is hard to explain but it is definitely not from the brakes because it was making the sound while turning with no brakes applied. What this could be?
Elantra HD (2006-10) :: Creaking Noise While Turning Steering Wheel To Left?
I bought an '08 Elantra about a month ago. A few weeks after buying it i noticed a creaking noise while turning the steering wheel to the left. It happens at low speeds or when stopped, but I haven't heard anything at high speeds. I can't tell for sure but it sounds closer to the inside of the car than the outside and will happen the entire time the steering wheel is turning to the left. No sound turning it to the right.
My brother liked my car so we test drove 3 other Elantras, 2 '08s and an '09. Two of them made the exact same noise. He ended up liking the one that didn't but after a while his started making the EXACT same noise too. I'm thinking this must be a common problem with the '07-'10 Elantras as all 4 cars had the same noise, but I can't find anything about it.
My right strut is bad and I'm having both front struts replaced Monday, so if it's something that can be done while he's doing the struts I'd like to find out before he takes everything apart so he doesn't have to do it twice.
Lexus RX 2004-09 :: Creaking Sound When Turning Left Or Right
2006 RX400h AWD. I've been experiencing a new and irritating creaking sound that happens when I'm turning left and/or right
The odd thing is that it sounds like it is coming from the center console. I've moved it all the way forward, all the way back and removed the contents of the console...no luck.
My searches didn't find anything close to my scenario. I know that there's a TSB for the front seat pins, but my sound isn't coming from the front seat.
Passat (B5) :: Drive Train Sound When Turning Left?
Lately I have noticed a sound when turning left but not right. It sounds sort of like when you go across a steel deck bridge, it's wheel speed related, not engine speed. Could it be an axle? I have 148,000+ miles on it. any diagnose/fix? As soon as it gets above freakin cold here.

I have a 2009 Camry that makes a metal to metal rubbing noise when turning left. t is coming from the Front Right passenger side. Also, when driving normally and going straight there seems to be somewhat of a dull click click click noise.

View 5 RepliesGolf/GTI VII :: Low Speed While Turning Left - Popping / Grinding Sound?
Got the stabilizer bar recall done in February and have been on a couple of long trips since then. No real issues until about a week ago I noticed at low speed, when turning left, and usually if there was a small bump or incline........like turning into my driveway, there would be a popping/grinding sound. It could happen at speed, but never heard anything. I go last night to install some ECS cross drilled and slotted rotors and flush spacer kit and noticed this on the left front....
Well honestly I noticed first that I needed to wash my car, just got back from the beach and it has been raining here, but is this installed correctly. The bar is bent near the top, easier to see in person and I am fairly positive this is not correct. Called the dealership and they are going to check it out Monda. The picture below is of a left front on a MK7 and it appears to be the correct.
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Brake Grinding Sound When Turning Wheel To Left
When I move the wheel to the left, I get this metal grinding sound (similar to rust on brake rotors/worn down brake pads). It happens when the foot is off the brake and ONLY when the wheel is turned to the left.
View 1 RepliesHyundai - Elantra :: 2011 - Rumbling Noise Coming From Right Front Tire Area When Turning Fairly Sharp Left
2011 Hyundai Elantra, 42k miles. The car is my girlfriends which I drive once every few weeks. Yesterday I noticed a rumbling noise coming from the right front tire area. The noise only comes about when turning a fairly sharp left while above 20 mph. Taking a left onto a side street etc doesn't cause any noise, but taking one while going through a big intersection etc. Where the speed is up a little bit causes the noise. The tires are original, obviously not new, but they still have a decent amount of tread left on them, they're Continental Pro Contacts.
Tire, ball-joint, brake pad rubbings? I'm going to take it to get looked at tomorrow, I did spray the area with a hose in case there was something caught in there, but that didn't change anything. The tire looks fine, no abnormal wear or bulges, the car is in alignment and makes no other noise except in the circumstance noted.
